YouTube must be able to receive the stream, and you should test the picture, narration and music before going live.
How do I stream a looping video on YouTube Live?
YouTube Live receives the prerecorded video through an encoder such as OBS; the file itself is not uploaded as a live event. The encoder sends it continuously while OBS repeats the file. Use YouTube Studio’s encoder workflow and monitor the Live Control Room during the broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live-streaming tips.
1. Check that the channel can stream
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. The minimum age to live stream is 16. First-time live streaming activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned session. Confirm the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
2. Create or schedule an encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream using the encoder option.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Keep the event in preview while you check the incoming video and audio. Take the event live only when the preview is correct.

3. Add the video and turn on looping in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene.
- Select the local video file you have permission to broadcast.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS describes this control as restarting the file after playback completes. Its Media Sources guide covers the source options.
- Arrange the source in the scene and check that it fills the intended frame without unwanted cropping or empty space.
For a sequence of videos rather than one file, use OBS’s VLC Video source and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for that source type to be available. Choose one approach: Media Source for a single file, VLC Video for a playlist.
4. Set the connection and encoder settings
For the standard encoder workflow, YouTube recommends RTMPS. Set the encoder to constant bitrate (CBR) and a 2-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds. Choose a resolution and bitrate that match YouTube’s current encoder settings table and your connection’s measured upload capacity. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom, rather than using the full measured upload speed. Check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions and streaming tips for the current recommendations.

HLS is another YouTube ingestion option for supported workflows and codecs, but YouTube notes that it has higher latency. For a conventional prerecorded-video loop without a stated HDR requirement, the ordinary encoder path using RTMPS is the straightforward starting point.
5. Check the session, then start
Before going live, play enough of the file to verify the spoken Malayalam narration and any background music are audible, the video moves as expected, and the file’s ending-to-beginning transition does not create an unwanted silence or cutoff. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. Start the encoder and watch the Live Control Room’s stream-health messages and audio/video preview; respond to warnings rather than assuming the connection will remain stable. YouTube’s guidance says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”

6. End the broadcast and check the replay
When the broadcast should end, stop sending from the encoder deliberately. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Review the replay and its copyright or claims status before sharing it as an on-demand video.
Can I use music in a live yoga nidra stream?
Use only music, visuals and narration that you own or are permitted to use both in the live broadcast and, if you keep it, in the archived replay. A license for background listening or a different type of publication may not cover either use; check the license’s live-stream, territory and archive terms.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can trigger a warning or placeholder and may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed third-party material can be interrupted if its rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. A Content ID claim may also appear after the live stream ends if it is archived. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance before using third-party material.

Looping is a technical setting, not a promise of monetization eligibility. YouTube’s channel monetization policy applies to live streams and says highly repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible, including content with little variation and little educational or other value. Make the session genuinely useful and original; do not assume that repeating a file qualifies it for monetization. The policy page records a July 15, 2025 clarification and the renaming of “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Troubleshooting common problems
- YouTube does not accept the stream: Check that live streaming is enabled for the channel, that you selected the encoder workflow, and that OBS has the current stream URL and key. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The video stops instead of repeating: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is enabled. For a playlist, confirm you used VLC Video, installed VLC, and enabled Loop Playlist.
- The stream health warning appears: Check the upload connection and reduce the encoder bitrate if it cannot sustain the feed. Keep YouTube’s recommended 20% bandwidth headroom, and use its current bitrate and resolution table rather than a setting your connection cannot maintain.
- The picture is cropped or audio is missing: Check the OBS scene framing and source audio, then preview the full path in YouTube’s Live Control Room before taking the event live.
- A copyright warning or interruption occurs: Stop and review the matched material and the relevant rights. Verify that permission covers live streaming and the archive; for licensed Content ID material, check whether the rights owner has allowlisted the channel.
