You can stream a Hindi yoga nidra recording on YouTube Live without using a phone: run an encoder such as OBS on a computer, add the recording as a looping media source, and connect OBS to a YouTube encoder stream with its stream URL and key. Before going live, verify that YouTube Live is enabled for your channel, test the full audio-and-video path, and confirm you have permission to broadcast the recording.
What you need for a phone-free stream
- A YouTube channel eligible to stream using an encoder.
- A computer with OBS and a local copy of the recording.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your chosen stream settings.
- Permission to broadcast the complete recording, including its music, voice, and other audio or visual material.
YouTube supports encoder streaming as a separate route from mobile and webcam streaming. This walkthrough uses OBS on a computer; it does not require a phone, and it does not assume you need to buy a computer or dedicated encoder.
Enable YouTube Live before the broadcast
YouTube’s computer-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. If you are enabling live streaming for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help (accessed 2026; publication date not stated on the retrieved page). Check access well ahead of the planned broadcast rather than waiting until you are ready to start.
Set up the YouTube stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream. Use YouTube’s current prompts to choose the stream details and retrieve the stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open the stream settings and enter the URL and key supplied for that YouTube stream.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes it as the credential that tells the encoder where to send its feed; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that stream.
Use the URL and key associated with the stream you intend to broadcast. Do not publish the key in a video description, chat, screenshot, or other public place.

Make the recording loop in OBS
- In OBS, create or select a scene for the broadcast.
- Add a Media Source and select the local recording file.
- In the source properties, enable Loop. This makes playback start again when the file reaches its end.
- Check the scene in the OBS preview. Confirm that the picture appears as intended and that the recording’s audio is reaching the OBS mixer.
OBS lists common media formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. A video source should include the audio you want viewers to hear; if the recording is audio-only, check the scene’s visual presentation separately. For a playlist of multiple files, OBS offers a VLC Video source that can loop a playlist, but VLC must be installed.
Choose encoder settings and test the connection
YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends RTMPS, H.264 video, constant bitrate encoding (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends 128 Kbps. That audio figure is a recommendation, not a requirement for every stream. Choose resolution and bitrate to suit your actual upload connection rather than assuming a mostly still meditation image will compensate for an unstable network.

- Test upload bitrate and use a representative test with both audio and motion, as YouTube advises.
- Start encoder setup ahead of the scheduled broadcast and inspect the Live Control Room preview.
- Check that the intended OBS scene is active, the recording’s audio is present, and the image is framed and legible.
- Let the file reach its end during the test and verify that it starts again as expected.
- Watch YouTube’s stream health and monitor audio and video quality during the event.
A successful preview confirms the feed is reaching YouTube at that moment; it does not establish that the connection will remain stable for an unattended broadcast. The computer running OBS and its network connection remain part of this DIY setup.
Check rights before rebroadcasting
Having a recording file does not by itself establish permission to stream it. Confirm that you have rights to the complete video and audio, including any background music, chants, ambient recordings, artwork, or third-party footage. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content matches. A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, interrupt it, or lead to termination. YouTube says licensed third-party content may still be interrupted unless the rights holder adds the channel to its Content ID allowlist.

Choose the setup that fits your situation
For a phone-free broadcast, an encoder on a computer is the directly relevant YouTube route. Mobile live streaming is a separate method, not a workaround for this setup; YouTube Help (accessed 2026; publication date not stated on the retrieved page) specifies at least 50 subscribers for mobile live streaming, which is not an encoder eligibility threshold.
Within encoder setups, software on a computer you already have avoids committing to dedicated hardware when the stream can be operated and monitored there. YouTube also recognizes standalone hardware encoders, but the available guidance does not establish that buying one is necessary for this use. Consider whether a suitable computer is already available, how long the stream must continue, who will monitor it, the complexity you are comfortable managing, and your actual network capacity.

Troubleshooting common problems
- You cannot start an encoder stream: Check channel verification, live-stream restrictions, and whether first-time activation has completed. YouTube says initial activation can take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube preview is blank or not receiving video: Confirm OBS is connected to the intended stream and that the correct scene is active. Recheck the stream URL and key in the encoder settings.
- The stream has picture but no meditation audio: Check the Media Source audio and OBS mixer levels, then verify audio in the Live Control Room preview before broadcasting.
- The recording stops at the end instead of restarting: Reopen the Media Source properties and make sure Loop is enabled. Test through the end of the file.
- Playback stutters or stream health deteriorates: Retest upload capacity with representative audio and motion, then adjust the encoder quality to match the available connection. Monitor stream health rather than relying on the stillness of the visuals.
- YouTube interrupts the live video: Check for a third-party content match and resolve rights or allowlisting issues with the relevant rights holder. Possessing or licensing a recording does not guarantee uninterrupted live playback if the channel is not allowlisted.
