YouTube Live does not provide a documented Studio control that automatically plays every video in a folder. To broadcast prerecorded videos, use an encoder workflow: YouTube supplies the stream connection details, while your computer or service plays the files and sends the resulting live feed. For Indian channels, verify and enable live streaming before the event; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
How folder-to-live streaming works
A folder is only a collection of files; YouTube Live receives a continuous feed from an encoder. The setup therefore has two parts: arrange playback of the videos in the order you want, then send that playback through an encoder using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. YouTube’s documented encoder instructions explain the connection, but do not establish a universal folder queue or auto-play function in Studio. Confirm that your chosen playback and encoder software can advance through the files as intended.
Check that your channel can go live
- Your channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s computer live-streaming requirements.
- If you have never streamed before, enable live streaming in advance. Activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- Check that you have the rights to broadcast every video, soundtrack, image, and other element in the folder. A live broadcast is not exempt from copyright rules simply because its source is prerecorded. Review YouTube’s copyright safety checklist before scheduling.
Set up the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or open a scheduled stream, following YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that event into the matching server and key fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not show it on screen or share it publicly.
- Choose the event’s audience, privacy, title, and schedule in Studio. Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate before making the intended broadcast public.
Prepare the folder and encoder
Choose an encoder and playback method that can send the prerecorded videos in the desired order. The exact menus vary by software and operating system, and YouTube’s general setup guidance does not prescribe a folder-watching feature. Check the encoder documentation for playlist support, file-format compatibility, transitions, and whether playback continues automatically after one file ends.
- Arrange the files in the intended sequence. Check that each file opens and that its audio is present and at a consistent, suitable level.
- Set up the encoder’s source or playback sequence, then enter the YouTube stream URL and key in its connection settings.
- Configure the outgoing stream to match the capabilities of your files, encoder, and connection. There is no single bitrate or resolution that fits every source; avoid choosing settings beyond what your upload connection can sustain.
- Start the encoder feed before starting the public event, then wait for the Live Control Room preview and inspect both picture and sound. Begin the public broadcast only after the preview is correct.
Test upload capacity and stream health
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total streaming bitrate; its guidance describes this as “primary + backup + 20% recommended.” The required capacity depends on your configured bitrate and other network use. See YouTube’s streaming tips. If other people or devices use the same connection, test under realistic conditions rather than relying on an otherwise idle network.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Run a test stream before the scheduled broadcast and watch the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators.
- Listen for missing or distorted audio as well as checking that video plays and advances correctly.
- Keep the computer awake and the network connected for the full broadcast when using a local encoder; a local setup depends on both.
Can YouTube automatically play every file in a folder?
The reviewed YouTube Studio guidance does not document a native control that monitors an arbitrary local folder and streams every file automatically. The encoder must provide the playback feed, and whether files can be queued or advanced hands-free depends on the specific software. Test the full sequence before going public; do not assume that connecting a folder to YouTube alone creates a playlist.
Optional hardware for scheduled playback without a computer
YouTube names the AJA HELO Plus as a hardware option: its optional PlayToStream feature can schedule prerecorded media for direct streaming to YouTube Live without a computer. This is a specialized alternative, not a requirement for ordinary encoder setups. YouTube’s guidance does not provide India-specific pricing or stock information, so check with the manufacturer or a local seller for current details. See YouTube’s live-streaming equipment guidance.

Troubleshooting common problems
- No preview appears: Confirm the encoder is running, the correct event’s stream URL and key are entered, and the channel has live streaming enabled. If activation is new, allow up to 24 hours.
- The stream is unstable or drops: Compare your available upload capacity with the configured stream bitrate and YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Check for competing network use and test again.
- The video stops after one file: Check whether your chosen playback method is configured to advance to the next file. YouTube Studio does not supply a documented universal folder queue.
- Picture appears but audio does not: Check the selected audio source and confirm the files themselves contain an audible track. Verify sound in the encoder preview before going public.
- The wrong event receives the feed: Recheck that the stream URL and key belong to the intended Live Control Room event. Keep keys private, and replace or reset a key if it has been exposed.
Archives and long broadcasts
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer stream will be archived the same way; plan to retain your original files and check YouTube’s current streaming guidance for the event.
