Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To stream a playlist at 4K and 60 fps with Streamlabs Desktop, create an encoder livestream in YouTube Studio, add the video source in Streamlabs, set the output to 3840×2160 at 60 fps, and use YouTube’s current ingest settings. For 2160p60, YouTube recommends H.264 at 35 Mbps, or lists 10–40 Mbps for AV1/H.265; use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. Test the full path—including the playlist’s restart behavior, audio, upload capacity, and YouTube’s stream health—before going live.
Before you set up the stream
- Confirm YouTube eligibility. You need a verified channel without live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live streaming eligibility guidance.
- Check your source and computer. 4K60 means 2160p output at 60 frames per second. Your video, encoder, and computer must all be able to sustain it; raising output resolution does not add detail to a lower-resolution source.
- Confirm rights to the entire playlist. You are responsible for having permission to stream both video and audio. A video being publicly viewable or purchased does not by itself establish rebroadcast rights. YouTube’s live content must also follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
- Plan a test. Use representative moving footage and audio, not just a static opening frame. YouTube recommends setting up at least two hours before an event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start; see its live streaming tips.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect Streamlabs
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule an encoder livestream. Confirm the event’s settings and that live streaming is enabled for the channel.
- Open the event’s stream settings in YouTube Studio and copy its stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not post or share it publicly.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open the streaming configuration and select YouTube or enter the stream URL and key, depending on the connection option available in your current app. Keep the YouTube event open so you can check its preview and stream health during the test.
YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS when available. Choose RTMPS in the encoder connection settings if Streamlabs offers it for your setup. YouTube’s current encoder guidance is the authority for ingest requirements.
Add and verify the playlist source
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open the scene that should carry the broadcast and add the local video or media source. Streamlabs documents media files such as MP4 and media-source looping and caching behavior in its media-source guide.
- Arrange the source in the scene so it fills the intended canvas, and check that its audio is audible in the mixer. If the playlist contains multiple videos, configure the source or sources using the controls available in your installed Streamlabs version.
- Run a private or otherwise appropriate test and watch the full transition from the end of one item to the next. Confirm the video starts again or advances as intended, that audio does not cut out unexpectedly, and that the scene remains active.
The exact current playlist-specific menu labels are not established here, so do not assume that a particular button or control exists in every version. Verify the behavior in your installed app before relying on it for a scheduled broadcast.
Set Streamlabs video output to 4K60
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open Settings > Video.
- Set the base canvas resolution to 3840×2160 if your scene and computer can handle a 4K canvas.
- Set the output resolution to 3840×2160. This is the resolution sent to YouTube; confirm your source is actually 4K if you expect genuine 4K detail.
- Set FPS to 60. Check that your source is 60 fps and that the computer can encode at this rate without dropped frames.
Streamlabs documents canvas, output resolution, and frame-rate controls under its Video settings guidance. If the computer struggles, lower the output resolution or frame rate rather than letting an unstable 4K60 feed spoil the broadcast.

Choose encoder settings for YouTube’s 2160p60 profile
In Streamlabs’ output or encoder settings, choose a codec supported reliably by your computer and use YouTube’s current recommendations for the selected resolution and frame rate. For 2160p60, YouTube currently publishes these figures:
| Codec | YouTube’s 2160p60 bitrate guidance | Settings to apply |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 | 35 Mbps recommended | Use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. |
| AV1 or H.265 | 10–40 Mbps | Choose a bitrate within YouTube’s published range; use CBR and a two-second keyframe interval. |
These are YouTube’s published ingest recommendations, not a guarantee that every computer, connection, or viewer will deliver the same result. The same YouTube page specifies frame rates up to 60 fps and says the keyframe interval should not exceed four seconds. Use its current encoder settings table if the app presents different options.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Rate control: set CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframes: set the interval to two seconds; do not exceed four seconds.
- Codec: use H.264 if that is the dependable option your encoder supports. AV1/H.265 can use YouTube’s listed 10–40 Mbps range at 2160p60, but hardware and software support varies.
- Latency: YouTube’s encoder guidance places 4K streams at normal latency rather than low latency.
Older Streamlabs material gives a different 4K60 bitrate range. For current YouTube ingest, follow YouTube’s newer published table rather than substituting that older range.
Check upload capacity and stream health
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom for other network traffic. At the 35 Mbps H.264 video recommendation, 20% arithmetic headroom makes 42 Mbps of available upload capacity a useful planning figure, before audio and any other simultaneous use. This is not a guaranteed speed-test threshold: actual stability depends on the connection and competing traffic.

- Use a stable connection and check available upload capacity while accounting for other devices and services using the network. Ethernet is an optional way to reduce reliance on Wi-Fi; YouTube does not require a particular cable.
- Start the Streamlabs encoder and wait for the YouTube Live Control Room preview. Check that the image, motion, and audio are correct.
- Review YouTube’s stream-health messages during the test and broadcast. A local Streamlabs preview alone does not confirm that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.
- If the feed drops frames, buffers, or reports health problems, reduce the bitrate, resolution, or frame rate, or improve the connection before the event. Retest with representative content after changing settings.
YouTube’s advice on upload capacity and monitoring is in its streaming tips and encoder settings guidance. The platform transcodes live streams into viewer formats, so the rendition a viewer receives can vary with their device, bandwidth, and YouTube processing even when your encoder sends a 4K60 feed.
Troubleshoot common 4K60 playlist problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not accept the stream or the preview stays empty. | The event is not ready, the key or URL is wrong, or live streaming is not enabled. | Check channel eligibility and activation, reopen the event’s stream settings, and carefully re-enter the current stream URL and key. Keep the key private. |
| The picture stutters or YouTube reports an unhealthy stream. | The connection cannot sustain the chosen bitrate, or the computer cannot encode 4K60 consistently. | Check stream health and upload use; reduce bitrate, output resolution, or frame rate until the feed is stable, then test again. |
| The output is 4K but the image looks soft. | The source may be lower resolution, or YouTube may still be processing or delivering a different rendition. | Confirm source resolution and check the Live Control Room feed. Viewer playback quality can vary with device, bandwidth, and platform processing. |
| The playlist stops, fails to restart, or loses audio between items. | The media source’s loop/playlist behavior or audio routing may not match the intended sequence. | Test the whole sequence in the installed Streamlabs version, inspect the source controls and audio mixer, and do not rely on an unverified loop setting for a live event. |
| The broadcast is blocked or interrupted over content. | You may lack rights to video or audio, or the stream may violate YouTube policies. | Confirm permission for every playlist item and review YouTube’s live-stream policies before retrying. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video looping on YouTube without leaving Streamlabs and a computer running at home, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube, not from a camera.
