How to Stream a 24/7 YouTube Lo-Fi Music Channel from Prerecorded Videos

To stream a prerecorded lo-fi program on YouTube around the clock, send a looping video-and-audio feed from an encoder to a YouTube Live broadcast. You can run the encoder locally with OBS, or use cloud playout so a computer at home does not have to stay on. First confirm your channel can go live, clear the music and visuals for YouTube streaming, and test the complete loop before launching publicly.

What a 24/7 prerecorded YouTube stream actually does

YouTube Live receives a feed from an encoder and delivers the resulting broadcast to viewers. For a lo-fi channel, the encoder plays your prepared video and music, repeats the program, and sends it to YouTube. It is a live broadcast of prerecorded material, not a camera feed. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation distinguishes the incoming stream from the broadcast viewers watch.

A continuous stream is only as safe as its rights, connection, and channel eligibility. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party material, and a licensed track may still cause an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.

Choose where the stream will run

Approach Where playback and encoding run Main convenience Main dependency
StreamNeo In the cloud, from uploaded videos or playlists Always-on YouTube streaming, any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; first day free The service and its connection to YouTube
Local computer and encoder On a computer maintained by you Direct control and possible use of a computer you already own The computer and its internet connection must remain available
Other cloud playout On a hosted service Avoids maintaining a dedicated streaming computer The chosen provider and its YouTube connection; price and reliability depend on the provider

For a local setup, OBS is an encoder option. Use its Auto-Configuration Wizard for initial settings, then test the result rather than assuming one bitrate or resolution suits every computer and connection; OBS provides setup and connection-quality help. For any encoder, use the ingestion protocol it supports and the details shown in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube documents RTMPS as RTMP carried through an SSL connection in its RTMPS ingestion guide. The sources available here do not establish a universal bitrate, computer specification, or comparative reliability figure, so follow the encoder and YouTube guidance for your selected output rather than treating a guessed setting as a platform requirement.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Prepare the music, visuals, and rights records

  1. List every element. Keep a track list and record the source and rights for each piece of music, image, animation, and other visual material in the loop.
  2. Check the scope of each permission. Confirm it covers live streaming on YouTube, the territories where the stream can be viewed, and monetized use if you intend to monetize.
  3. Ask about Content ID allowlisting. If a label, distributor, or other rights owner licensed the material, ask whether your channel needs to be allowlisted. YouTube says a stream can be interrupted even when the creator has a license if the channel is not on the owner’s allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
  4. Keep proof accessible. Save licenses and written permissions so you can identify the relevant grant if a claim or interruption occurs.

YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music during a live stream. A track playing successfully during a test is not proof that its rights are cleared or that it will not be matched later. Its Going Live for Music Channels guidance covers preparation and testing.

Make sure the channel can go live

YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube for Artists advises enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before the first planned broadcast. Check the current status and setup in your YouTube account before scheduling a launch; do not leave channel enablement until the final hour. See Get started with live streaming.

Set up the prerecorded loop with OBS

  1. Prepare a continuous program. Assemble the video and audio into a loopable file or sequence. Check the beginning and end for abrupt silence, black frames, volume jumps, or transitions that become distracting when repeated.
  2. Open OBS and configure the source. Add the prepared media as a source and enable looping in its source properties. Confirm both the picture and audio are present in the OBS preview and meters. OBS menu wording can vary by version, so consult the OBS Help Portal if a control is not where expected.
  3. Set output using a test, not a guess. Use OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point. Choose a resolution and frame rate that match your prepared material and the capacity of your computer and upload connection. Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for bitrate and keyframe settings; the sources reviewed for this article do not establish exact values for every format or account.
  4. Create the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule a live stream and copy its stream key and ingestion details into OBS’s streaming settings. Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
  5. Connect with the supported protocol. Select the server and protocol shown for the broadcast and supported by OBS. RTMPS is YouTube’s secure RTMP ingestion option; see the RTMPS guide.
  6. Run a private test. Before the public launch, make an unlisted test stream. Confirm the correct broadcast is receiving the feed, the loop restarts cleanly, audio stays audible, and the connection remains stable. YouTube for Artists specifically recommends an unlisted test, especially for a high-investment broadcast.
  7. Start the public stream and monitor it. When the test is satisfactory, select the intended public broadcast in Live Control Room and start streaming. Watch YouTube Studio for connection warnings, copyright notices, or interruptions.

Keep the stream running and handle failures

  • The computer or connection fails: A local encoder depends on the computer and internet connection staying available. Check power settings, network stability, and OBS connection guidance; a restart or a power/network outage can end local playout.
  • YouTube shows no incoming feed: Check that OBS uses the correct server and stream key for the selected broadcast, that the encoder is actually streaming, and that the network permits the connection. If you regenerate a key, update the encoder too.
  • The loop is silent, frozen, or visually broken: Inspect the media source’s loop setting, file path, audio meters, and the transition from the last frame to the first. Test the full sequence before going public.
  • The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: Review the notice in YouTube Studio, identify the matched element, and contact the relevant rights owner or distributor about permissions and allowlisting. Do not assume that restarting alone resolves the underlying rights issue.
  • A replay is important: YouTube documents converting completed broadcasts into videos, but the guidance cited here does not establish archive behavior for one continuous stream lasting beyond 12 hours. Check current YouTube guidance before promising viewers a complete replay of a 24/7 broadcast. See the Live Streaming API documentation and copyright and live-stream help.

Understand monetization before building around it

Running continuously does not guarantee monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and require original, authentic content; repetitive or mass-produced programming may be ineligible. Copyright permission and monetization eligibility are separate questions. Review YouTube channel monetization policies before relying on a repeated format as a revenue plan.

Eligible channels may be able to use live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and memberships where available, but ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. YouTube reports that creators choosing automatic live mid-rolls saw, on average, over 20% uplift in in-stream ad revenue per hour across 207 countries in January 2024. That is YouTube’s reported comparison, not a forecast or guarantee for an individual channel. See Monetize your live stream.
