You can run a continuous Tamil devotional playlist on YouTube by sending prerecorded videos through an encoder connected to YouTube’s Live Control Room. The encoder can be software on a computer, standalone hardware, or a cloud service built for continuous playback. Before going live, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights for every recording and visual, test the feed, and plan for outages and the limits on replay archiving.
Before you start: channel eligibility and rights
Check live-stream access
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If you have never streamed before, activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Clear the music and visuals
You are responsible for having the rights needed to use the live content on YouTube, including applicable music licensing rights. That may involve separate rights in a composition, a particular sound recording, an arrangement or performance, and any video or other visuals. A song’s devotional or traditional character does not by itself establish that a specific recording or audiovisual version is free to rebroadcast.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and continued use can lead to interruption or termination. If you have a license, the rights owner may still need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid interruptions. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and its copyright guidance for live streams before building the playlist.

Choose how to keep the playlist running
| Method | What stays on | Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A computer running the playlist and encoder | Flexible and suitable for many setups, but power, internet, software, and playback must remain available. You are responsible for monitoring and recovery. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | The encoder and its connected media source | An alternative to software encoding; YouTube supports standalone hardware encoders. Check that the device supports your intended prerecorded playlist workflow and recovery plan. |
| Cloud-based continuous-streaming service | The provider’s cloud system | Can avoid depending on a home computer. Check the service’s current features, reliability, regional availability, and commercial terms; YouTube’s listing of this category is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. |
YouTube’s encoder guide describes software and standalone hardware encoders, and also lists a cloud-based tool category for continuous 24/7 prerecorded-video streams. It does not establish comparative performance or pricing for these options.
Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Prepare the playlist. Assemble the Tamil devotional videos and any looping visual elements. Check that each item is cleared for the intended live use and territory. Confirm the playlist order and that playback can repeat as intended in your chosen encoder or service.
- Create or schedule the stream. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder guide covers the setup sequence.
- Copy the ingestion details. Copy the Live server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s matching fields. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Choose the video and audio settings. Set a resolution and frame rate that your encoder and sustained upload connection can support. Use YouTube’s current recommended bitrate for that combination, codec, and frame rate rather than choosing a number without measuring your upload capacity.
- Send a test feed. Start the encoder and wait for the Live Control Room preview and stream-health indicators. Check that the watch page opens and that the image, audio level, synchronization, and playlist transitions are correct before treating the stream as live for viewers.
- Monitor and prepare recovery. Keep an eye on stream health and audio/video quality. Decide who or what will respond to an encoder, power, or internet failure. If using a backup encoder, test the failover procedure rather than assuming it will work.
Encoder settings that matter
YouTube’s encoder settings guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, with AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP. Confirm that your encoder supports the protocol and settings you select in the YouTube encoder settings guide.

| Example setting | YouTube recommendation | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps, H.264 | 10 Mbps | YouTube recommendation, not a guarantee of stability on a particular connection. |
| 720p at 30 fps, H.264 | 6 Mbps | YouTube recommendation, not a guarantee of stability on a particular connection. |
These examples are not universal targets. Use the bitrate recommendation for your actual resolution, frame rate, and codec, then leave adequate headroom below the upload speed your connection can sustain. A speed test at one moment does not prove that a connection will hold its rate continuously.
Plan for interruptions and replay archives
A 24/7 broadcast depends on the full path from playlist playback through the encoder and network to YouTube. Local setups can stop if the computer, software, power, or connection fails. A cloud setup removes the home computer from that path, but it still depends on the selected provider and YouTube accepting the feed. No setup described here guarantees an uninterrupted stream indefinitely; verify the recovery and failover behavior of the system you choose.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The guidance does not establish that a longer, uninterrupted 24/7 stream will create one complete replay. If a complete archive matters, plan to segment or restart the broadcast in intervals under 12 hours and verify the resulting archives in YouTube Studio.
Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | The channel is not verified, has a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, or first-time activation is still processing. | Check channel eligibility and verification in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | Incorrect server URL or stream key, or a mismatched ingestion configuration. | Copy the current Live server URL and key from the correct stream in Live Control Room. Confirm the encoder is configured for the selected RTMP/RTMPS protocol. |
| Preview is unstable or stream health is poor | The encoder bitrate may exceed sustainable upload capacity, or the network may fluctuate. | Use the recommended bitrate for the selected codec, resolution, and frame rate; test the connection under realistic conditions and lower the stream settings if needed. |
| Audio or video is missing or incorrect | Wrong encoder input, playlist playback issue, audio encoding setting, or a malformed source file. | Check the encoder’s selected media source and audio track, review the Live Control Room preview, and test the affected file and transitions before relaunching. |
| The stream is replaced, interrupted, or terminated | YouTube may have detected third-party content, or the channel may not be allowlisted by a rights owner. | Review the live-stream copyright notice and resolve rights with the relevant owner. If you have a license, ask whether the channel must be added to the Content ID allowlist. |
| A long stream does not appear as one complete replay | YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours; a single complete archive for a longer stream is not established. | Use shorter broadcast segments if a complete replay is needed, then confirm the archives in Studio. |
