You can keep a YouTube preschool learning channel live around the clock by sending a rights-cleared playlist through a local encoder or a cloud playout service. First confirm that the channel can livestream, clear every item in the playlist, and set the stream’s audience accurately: preschool educational content is a strong indicator that it is Made for Kids.
Before you build a 24/7 stream
Check that the channel is eligible to livestream
YouTube’s Help guidance, reviewed October 3, 2026, says a channel must be verified and have no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. It also says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio before preparing a long-running broadcast; a stream setup cannot bypass a channel restriction.
Clear the rights for every item
Confirm that you have the necessary rights for every video, song, sound recording, image, and other element in the playlist. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the content provider to hold the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of the live content, including music licensing rights, and to comply with applicable laws. Permission to upload a video does not necessarily grant permission to retransmit it continuously as a livestream. Keep records of licenses and permissions, and exclude anything you cannot clear.
A playlist intended for children may also trigger legal obligations beyond YouTube’s audience setting. YouTube’s guidance is not a legal opinion about COPPA or the rules that apply in a particular country; seek advice appropriate to your jurisdiction if you need help assessing those obligations.

Choose how the prerecorded videos will reach YouTube
There are two practical approaches: a local encoder sends the playlist from a computer, or a cloud service plays uploaded files and sends the stream for you. YouTube’s encoder guide lists cloud tools for 24/7 prerecorded video, including Gyre and Upstream. A listing is not an endorsement, a guarantee of reliability, or a substitute for checking a service’s current features and terms.
| Approach | How it works | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Local encoder | A computer and encoder send the prerecorded playlist to YouTube using the stream’s connection details. | The computer, encoder, network connection, and power must keep working for the stream to continue. You control the local setup and need to test and monitor it. |
| Cloud playout | A service plays uploaded or selected prerecorded media and connects to YouTube, usually through account connection or a stream key. | Check looping and scheduling controls, connection method, monitoring and recovery details, storage, service limits, current pricing, and terms. A cloud route can avoid keeping a dedicated broadcast computer running at home. |
There is no universally best choice established by the available YouTube and vendor descriptions, and they do not provide a comparable reliability measure. Decide based on the actual workflow, controls, recovery information, ongoing costs, and whether you want to maintain a local broadcast system.
Prepare the video playlist
Make a continuous, deliberate viewing sequence
Choose the videos and their order before going live. Check that the playlist has no accidental gaps, private or unavailable files, unlicensed material, or abrupt transitions that would be confusing when it loops. Decide whether the sequence should repeat in the same order or follow a schedule; confirm that your chosen encoder or cloud service supports the behavior you want.

Check playback before you make it public
Play a representative segment from beginning to end and listen for missing audio, excessive silence, or sound that is too loud or distorted. Check that the picture is present and that transitions work. A short test can reveal playlist or connection problems, but it cannot establish that an unattended stream will run indefinitely.
Set the stream’s audience correctly
YouTube requires creators to indicate whether content is Made for Kids. Its guidance names educational content for preschoolers as a factor to consider, along with the intended audience, child-directed language, early education, songs, and stories. A preschool learning channel is therefore a strong Made for Kids indicator, but the creator must assess the content and designate it accurately; do not leave the decision to automated classification.
Set the audience for the livestream in YouTube Live Control Room. Review the selection for each stream rather than assuming a prior setting or a channel-wide default has made the decision for you.

Plan around the feature limits
YouTube says Made for Kids livestreams do not have live chat or personalized advertising, among other restricted features. Contextual ads may still be shown. Do not plan viewer participation around live chat or assume standard personalized-ad monetization will apply. The available guidance does not establish a specific revenue change for an individual creator.
Set up a local encoder
With a local setup, YouTube receives the encoder’s outgoing feed; the encoder, computer, and network connection need to remain active while you broadcast. The exact playlist controls and setting names depend on the encoder you choose, so follow its current instructions as well as YouTube’s current recommendations.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create the stream. Set the stream details and audience before going public. Make sure the selected audience designation matches the content.
- Copy YouTube’s connection details into the encoder. Use the stream key and server URL shown for the stream. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it, share it unnecessarily, or reuse a key that may have been exposed. If it is compromised, replace it in YouTube’s controls and update the encoder.
- Load the prerecorded playlist in the encoder. Configure the encoder to play the intended files and loop or schedule them as required. Check its behavior at the end of the final item so you know whether it restarts the playlist or stops.
- Use YouTube’s current encoder settings for your chosen picture size and frame rate. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval. Use its current settings guidance for bitrate and other codec values rather than copying a preset meant for a different resolution or frame rate.
- Allow upload headroom. Your sustained upload capacity must support the total outgoing stream bitrate, with room for normal network variation. YouTube advises adequate bandwidth and headroom; a connection that merely reaches the target in a brief speed test may still struggle during a continuous broadcast.
- Run a test and check stream health. Confirm the video and audio arrive correctly, review YouTube’s stream-health indicators, and keep monitoring while the stream runs. Test before sharing the public stream link.

- You cannot start a livestream: Recheck channel verification, the minimum age requirement, and whether the channel has a current or recent livestream restriction. YouTube’s eligibility guidance specifies no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- YouTube receives no video: Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream key and server URL are entered, and the intended stream is selected in Live Control Room. If a key was exposed, replace it rather than continuing to use it.
- The stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor health: Check sustained upload capacity against the total stream bitrate, reduce the encoder’s output settings if needed, and leave more bandwidth headroom. Test with YouTube’s current settings for the selected resolution and frame rate.
- The playlist stops or fails to restart: Check the encoder’s loop or schedule configuration and whether each media file remains available to it. Test the final-to-first transition before relying on unattended playback.
- Audio or picture is missing or incorrect: Check the playlist’s source files and encoder input, then play a test segment and inspect it in YouTube before returning to the public stream.
- Viewers cannot use live chat: Check the audience designation and YouTube’s Made for Kids feature limits. Do not promise chat for a stream designated Made for Kids.
- YouTube interrupts a cloud stream: Confirm the service’s current connection and recovery process. StreamNeo says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; the recovery feature does not replace checking the stream’s status and playlist.
Costs and ongoing responsibilities
A local encoder avoids a cloud-planning subscription but depends on a computer, electricity, and a stable connection that can sustain the broadcast. Cloud playout shifts playback to a service, so compare its current billing period, storage allowance, support, controls, and recovery details with the cost and maintenance of keeping local equipment running. YouTube’s listing of cloud tools does not establish their current prices or service terms.
