A Drive playlist link alone is not established as a reliable, continuous encoder source: first test how your chosen encoder accesses the actual files and handles their order and looping.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Permission to broadcast every recording and visual in the stream, including in the archive. Having a devotional song file in Drive does not itself grant rebroadcast rights.
- An encoder that can access the media files, create a continuous program, and send it to YouTube Live.
- A reliable outbound internet connection with upload capacity above the bitrate you plan to send.
This workflow is for pre-recorded bhajans played as a YouTube Live broadcast, not for streaming a live camera or performance.
Prepare the playlist in Google Drive
Check file access before building the stream
Google documents authorized ways to download Drive files and explains that an application needs permission to access file contents. That is different from proving that an encoder can continuously play a Drive playlist from an ordinary share link. Check the documentation for your selected encoder, confirm that it can access each file under the account and permissions you intend to use, and test playback before relying on it. Google’s Drive download and export guidance covers file access, not guaranteed direct playlist playback into a continuous broadcast.
Make the playback order and looping behavior explicit
Arrange the files in the desired order and confirm that the encoder supports that order and can repeat the playlist. Test what happens if a file is moved, renamed, deleted, or access is revoked. If the encoder requires local media, download the files through an authorized method and build the playlist from those local copies instead of assuming it can stream from Drive.

Confirm music and visual rights
Before broadcasting, verify permission for both the underlying composition and the specific sound recording, plus any artwork or video included. Confirm that the rights cover livestreaming and the resulting archive in the territories where viewers may access it. YouTube’s livestream terms say the person providing the content represents that they have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match may interrupt or terminate a broadcast; even licensed material can be interrupted unless the rights owner has allowlisted the channel. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and resolve permissions with the rights holder before going live. A devotional purpose, a purchased copy, or a file stored in your Drive does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast that recording.

Create the YouTube Live destination
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or select the live stream you want the encoder to use. Follow the encoder-based setup in YouTube’s live-streaming instructions.
- Copy the stream destination and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. The key is a credential that lets the encoder send video to your channel; treat it like a password. YouTube explains stream-key settings in Manage live stream settings.
- Do not show the key in a screen recording, stream preview, public document, or message. If it is exposed, reset it in the stream settings and update the encoder with the replacement.
Configure, preview, and start the encoder
Set a suitable output and test the feed
Choose output settings supported by your encoder and connection. The material covered here does not establish one bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval that is right for every encoder and source, so follow the current guidance for your encoder and YouTube’s stream configuration rather than copying a universal preset. Keep the stream bitrate within the connection’s sustained upload capacity and leave headroom for network variation.
Start the encoder’s feed in preview mode and check the Live Control Room before making the broadcast public. Confirm that the stream is reachable, that the expected video and audio are present, that the playlist advances and loops as intended, and that levels are audible without distortion. Go live and verify the public result
- When the preview is correct, start the broadcast in Live Control Room using the controls shown for the selected stream.
- Open the public watch page from a separate device or browser session. Check that viewers can hear the bhajans and see the intended video or artwork.
- If you want an archive, check the recording workflow and verify that the local archive file is growing when your setup supports one.
YouTube’s encoder advice is general livestream guidance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 operation. For a long-running bhajan livestream, keep the stream, connection, playlist, and archive under observation.
Keep the stream running and recover from interruptions
A local encoder depends on the computer, power, network, media access, and encoder remaining available. YouTube recommends a reliable connection and enough outbound bandwidth for the selected bitrate; connectivity interruptions can break the feed. Its streaming tips recommend upload headroom. Do not treat a home connection or Drive access as a 24/7 uptime guarantee.

- Check Live Control Room and the watch page periodically for a dropped feed, muted audio, frozen video, or an ended stream.
- Confirm that the encoder still has access to every file and that the playlist has not stalled at an unavailable item.
- Keep the stream key private. Reset it if compromised, then replace the key in the encoder.
- For an outage, check the network and encoder first, then restore file access and reconnect the feed. Verify the stream again in preview before resuming the public broadcast.
Local encoder or cloud operation?
With a local encoder, you control the files and playlist directly, but the computer, power, internet connection, and encoder are your responsibility. A hosted encoder can shift some of that ongoing operation off your home setup, but check that the service can access your media, loop it as required, stream to YouTube, and meet your rights and reliability needs.
