First identify where the silence occurs: between separate tracks, inside the recording, or at the point where one file loops back to its beginning. Each has a different fix. For Spotify track changes, try Gapless playback; for silence already in a file, edit the source; for a rough loop boundary, audition a crossfade. No setting can guarantee a seamless result across every app and device.
Find where the silence is coming from
Listen closely to the transition and, if possible, inspect the audio file around it. A pause between two tracks points to the playback app or its transition settings. Silence at the beginning or end of a recording is part of the source. A pause or click exactly when a single file restarts may mean its ending and beginning do not join smoothly.
- Between tracks: check the app’s gapless or crossfade controls.
- Within a file: inspect the waveform and listen for quiet sections that may or may not be intentional.
- At a loop point: compare the file’s ending with its opening and decide whether trimming or blending is appropriate.
Fix gaps between Spotify tracks
Spotify describes Gapless playback as removing gaps or pauses that may occur between tracks. Its support instructions, current as accessed on October 3, 2026, place the controls in Playback settings on mobile/tablet and desktop; labels and availability may change. See Spotify’s transitions support page for the current paths.
- Open Spotify’s Playback settings on the device playing the stream.
- Turn on Gapless playback.
- Keep Crossfade at zero or off if you want the tracks to meet without overlap. If a blended transition is acceptable, try a modest crossfade and listen for words or ambient sounds being overlapped.
- Test the transition again using the same playback route you use for the stream.
Gapless playback and crossfade are different remedies: one aims to remove the app-added pause; the other overlaps the tracks while fading one out and the next in. Spotify says these transition features cannot be set when using Spotify Connect. If you are using Connect, try local playback where practical, change the setting there, and test again.

Check repeat mode separately
Repeat determines what plays again; it does not itself remove silence or smooth a transition. Spotify’s Web API distinguishes repeating the current track from repeating the current playback context. Its repeat-mode endpoint requires Premium, according to the Spotify for Developers reference. For ordinary playback, confirm that the selected repeat mode matches your goal—one track or the full context—then troubleshoot the transition independently.
Remove unintended silence from a recording
If the quiet is already in the file, a player’s gapless setting will not remove it. Audacity’s guidance notes that tracks may start or end with short silence and explains how to select and delete unwanted leading or trailing silence. Listen before editing: breathing room, a gradual fade, or near-silent ambience may be intentional in meditation audio. See Audacity’s crossfade guidance for its editing workflow.

- Open the recording in Audacity and locate the quiet at the beginning or end.
- Listen to the selected region and decide whether it is unwanted silence rather than a deliberate pause or soft ambience.
- Select only the portion you want to remove and delete it; avoid cutting into a breath, spoken instruction, or musical decay.
- Export a test copy and listen to the transition in the player and stream setup you intend to use.
Smooth an abrupt or clicking loop boundary
If the file itself is fine but its end sounds abrupt against its beginning, try a crossfade. Audacity describes a crossfade as a way to produce a smooth transition between two audio sections. At a loop point, it blends the end into the start; that can hide a rough join, but it changes the transition and overlaps audio rather than preserving a strict no-overlap boundary. The result may alter timing or texture.
- In an audio editor, place the end and beginning sections so they overlap at the intended loop point.
- Apply a crossfade to that overlap.
- Repeat playback across the edited boundary several times. Adjust the overlap if it smears speech, creates a dip, or changes the ambient texture in an unwanted way.
- Export and test the edited file in the actual playback route. A smooth edit in an editor does not establish that every streaming app or device will loop it identically.
Audacity’s separate instructions for Crossfade Clips explain the effect. Use it only when a blended join is acceptable.

Try a selected-segment loop in VLC for Android
VLC for Android 3.5 documents an A-B repeat feature: set a start point and an end point, then repeat the selected section. This can be useful when a particular passage loops better than the whole recording or when the app’s track-repeat behavior is unsuitable. It does not promise that every chosen boundary will be seamless; the audio and player behavior still matter. See VLC for Android’s Audio Player documentation.
Use FFmpeg for careful batch cleanup
For a technical or batch workflow, FFmpeg documents silencedetect to locate quiet regions and silenceremove to remove qualifying silence at the beginning, middle, or end. These filters act on audio thresholds; they cannot tell whether a quiet meditation pause is meaningful. Check the FFmpeg filters documentation, choose thresholds conservatively, and listen to the output before replacing the original.

Choose the remedy that matches the gap
| Method | What it changes | Useful when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gapless playback | Removes a player-added pause between tracks | The app supports gapless transitions and silence is not embedded in the source | Not a universal fix across apps, devices, casting routes, or single-file loops |
| Crossfade | Overlaps audio while fading outgoing and incoming sections | A blended transition is acceptable | Can overlap speech or ambience and changes the boundary |
| Trim source silence | Removes quiet material at a file’s start or end | The pause is present in the recording | Can remove intentional breathing room or atmosphere |
| Crossfade the loop boundary | Blends the file’s end into its beginning | The join is abrupt or clicks | Changes timing and texture; requires auditioning |
| A-B repeat | Repeats a selected segment | Whole-track repeat is unsuitable | Requires a player with the feature; seamless playback is not guaranteed |
Troubleshoot if the gap remains
- Gapless playback is on, but tracks still pause: check whether playback is through Spotify Connect, where Spotify says the transition features cannot be set. Try local playback and test again.
- The pause is at the start or end of one file: inspect the source; an app setting cannot remove silence stored in the recording.
- Trimming makes the meditation feel rushed: undo the edit and preserve the deliberate pause or quiet ambience. If appropriate, try a shorter edit rather than automatic silence removal.
- A crossfade blurs words or creates an unnatural dip: reduce or remove the overlap, or use a clean trim if that better preserves the recording.
- A loop clicks despite editing: revisit the exact join, audition repeatedly, and test the exported version in its destination player. The available sources do not establish one universal fix for all devices, apps, formats, or casting routes.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the meditation stream is a YouTube channel playing uploaded recordings, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud after you upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos and YouTube live streams, not camera streaming. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
