Give viewers a short, accurate list of what channel members receive, show which benefits belong to which membership level, and place your channel’s YouTube Join link beside a plain invitation to view the offer. For a members-only stream, make any access restriction clear: non-members may still see the stream’s title, thumbnail, and description.
What to include in the description
Use a compact section viewers can scan while deciding whether to join. Include the channel’s actual benefits, their level or eligibility, and any schedule or conditions that change what a member should expect. Add your channel’s YouTube URL with /join appended.

Match every benefit to the right membership level
YouTube’s membership setup allows up to six levels, with one to five perks per level. Higher levels include the perks of lower levels. If you have more than one level, say which level unlocks each additional benefit; do not imply that every member receives every perk.
Depending on what a channel has enabled, possible perks include badges, custom emoji, members-only posts, early access, members-only live chat or streams, milestone chats, a recognition shelf, Shorts, and videos. These are examples, not a promise that every channel offers them. Check the channel’s configured benefits and use their actual names and conditions.

State cadence and limits that affect expectations
If a benefit is scheduled, occasional, or limited, describe that accurately. For example, distinguish a regularly scheduled members-only stream from occasional members-only streams. If early access applies only to selected videos, say so rather than suggesting all videos arrive early. Include any relevant eligibility or access restriction in the same line as the benefit.
Make the Join link easy to use
- Copy your channel URL.
- Add
/jointo the end of it. - Place the resulting link next to a clear invitation, such as “See the membership offer or join.”
- Open the link and confirm that it leads to your channel’s membership offer before publishing the description.
YouTube permits creators to add this Join link to a video description. You can also use the membership window’s intro video to explain the perks, but the description should still give viewers the essential offer and level distinctions in text.

Be clear when the stream is members-only
A members-only live stream can still show its thumbnail and metadata—including the title and description—to non-members. Make the access restriction explicit near the start of the description, for example: “Members-only stream. Access depends on your membership level.” Use that wording only if it accurately reflects the stream’s configured access.
Promise only benefits you can deliver
Choose perks for the value they offer your audience and for what you can reliably provide. YouTube requires creators to deliver published perks and says it does not take responsibility for creator perks. Do not advertise a benefit until it is enabled and you have a workable plan to fulfill it.

YouTube suggests considering whether viewers want closeness, exclusivity, recognition, or simply a way to show support. Treat these as prompts for deciding what fits your community, not as guaranteed reasons every viewer will join.
