To show Super Chat alerts on an OBS-powered YouTube loop stream, first confirm that your channel and the specific live stream are eligible, then enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio, connect an alert integration such as Streamlabs, and add its current alert widget to the OBS scene. Super Chats appear in YouTube live chat; the on-screen alert is a separate display supplied by the integration.
1. Check that Super Chat is available
Check channel eligibility
Super Chat is a YouTube fan-funding feature for eligible live streams and Premieres. Your channel must meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements, be in a location where the feature is available, and comply with the applicable terms and policies. Check the Earn area in YouTube Studio to see whether Supers are available for your channel. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers eligibility, availability, and policies.
Check the particular stream
Even if the channel is eligible, Super Chat is unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. Live chat must also be available: turning off live chat or comments disables Super Chat for that stream. A looped video is not, by itself, evidence that a stream qualifies or fails to qualify; the relevant checks are channel eligibility and the stream’s settings.
2. Enable Super Chat in YouTube Studio
In YouTube Studio, check the channel’s Earn area for Supers availability and enable the fan-funding feature if it is offered. Confirm this before configuring an external alert service: an overlay cannot make an ineligible channel or stream accept Super Chats. 3. Connect an alert integration
Documented Streamlabs route
- Open YouTube’s instructions for using third-party integrations with Super Chat and channel memberships.
- Use Google Sign-In with Streamlabs and follow the prompts to link the YouTube channel.
- Set up the relevant widgets and alerts in Streamlabs, following the current instructions shown in that product.
YouTube documents this Streamlabs connection and widget setup, but does not establish the current Streamlabs menu labels or alert-widget URL. Use the provider’s live instructions rather than copying an unverified URL or relying on a menu path that may have changed.
Other tools are not interchangeable by default
YouTube describes its Live Chat API as a way for external tools to read and moderate chat and display Super Chats. Building a custom integration with the API is a separate technical route, not the same as enabling a ready-made widget.

YouTube lists StreamElements for recognizing channel members with overlays and live alerts, and IFTTT for Super Chat-triggered interactions. Those references do not establish that either service provides the same OBS Super Chat alert workflow as Streamlabs. Before connecting any provider, verify that its current product explicitly supports YouTube Super Chat and the display you want.
4. Add the alert to the OBS scene
Once the integration is connected, use its current widget instructions and URL to add the alert to the OBS scene used for the stream. The cited YouTube guidance refers to OBS-related setup and Streamlabs widgets but does not specify today’s exact OBS source fields or widget URL, so those values should come from the alert provider’s current documentation—not guesswork.

Place and size the alert so it remains visible over the loop video without obscuring essential content. Confirm that the scene you edited is the scene actually used by the stream. If you use multiple scenes, add the widget to each scene where you want alerts to appear.
5. Verify chat and the on-screen alert separately
Super Chats appear in the YouTube live chat feed, while the alert widget creates a separate on-stream display. Test the integration with its current test function if one is available, then check the live stream’s chat and the OBS overlay independently. YouTube’s cited guidance does not describe a test-purchase procedure; do not assume a test alert is the same as a real viewer transaction.

- Super Chat is not available in Studio: Check the Earn area and review channel eligibility, location availability, and applicable policies. An overlay service cannot enable a feature YouTube has not made available to the channel.
- Viewers cannot send Super Chats on this stream: Check that the stream is not age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and that live chat is turned on.
- A Super Chat appears in chat but no overlay appears: Check that the correct YouTube channel is linked, the alert is configured in the connected service, and the widget is present in the OBS scene currently on air. Follow the provider’s current widget instructions.
- The overlay appears in a test but not during the stream: Verify that the live event is using the expected OBS scene and that chat and the alert integration are connected to the same channel. Check the provider’s current documentation for service-specific troubleshooting.
- A third-party connection seems unsafe or unwanted: Use the provider’s documented Google Sign-In flow; do not share your Google password with a third party. YouTube says third-party tools are not made or endorsed by Google and have their own terms. You can remove an app’s Google Account access. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-streaming tools and services.
Revenue share and platform context
