Add XSplit Broadcaster’s Video Playlist source to a scene, add the clips you want to play, then configure YouTube Live as a separate broadcast output. The playlist supplies the video; the output sends the scene to YouTube. The exact playlist controls can vary by installed version, so check the source’s options rather than assuming it offers shuffle or a particular repeat mode.
What playlist rotation in XSplit does
XSplit Broadcaster’s Video Playlist source lets you place multiple videos in a scene for continuous playback, with options to control playback. XSplit also describes playlists and related slideshow sources as useful for sponsor ads or other media during breaks, including custom transitions and looping effects.
The playlist is not the YouTube connection itself. Add it as a scene source, then configure Broadcaster’s YouTube output separately. See XSplit’s Sources Menu – Introduction and XSplit Broadcaster Advanced Tips.
Add a Video Playlist source to a scene
- Open the scene. In XSplit Broadcaster, select the scene where you want the clips to appear. If you use different scenes for a program and breaks, choose the one intended to show the rotating videos.
- Open Add Source. Find and select Video Playlist in the source menu. XSplit documents it as a source for multiple videos with continuous playback.
- Add the clips and inspect the source options. Use the controls available in your installed version to choose the videos and configure playback. Confirm the displayed order and any repeat or transition options before relying on them in a live broadcast.
- Check the scene preview and audio. Confirm that the intended video is visible and that its audio is audible at an appropriate level. This is a practical pre-broadcast check; the documentation does not specify a universal playlist audio-mixing behavior.
XSplit’s source-menu documentation does not establish the exact file-selection, reordering, removal, shuffle, or end-of-list controls. It also does not specify which video formats the Video Playlist source accepts. If you need a particular sequence or behavior, verify it in the installed source options and test playback before going live. XSplit’s separate Image, Video, and Audio Source article covers media sources generally, but does not settle every Video Playlist detail.

Configure YouTube Live as the broadcast output
- Enable YouTube Live for the channel. You must have live streaming enabled before using Broadcaster’s YouTube output. XSplit notes that first-time channel verification may take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility and enablement in YouTube before your planned broadcast; see XSplit’s Streaming to YouTube Live guide.
- Create a scheduled event if needed. For a scheduled broadcast, create the event in YouTube Studio first. Then return to Broadcaster and select or configure that event in the YouTube broadcast details.
- Choose the YouTube output in Broadcaster. Open Broadcast, configure or select the YouTube output, and set the broadcast details and event as appropriate. Follow the current output workflow described in XSplit’s guide, since labels and options may change between versions.
- Review the scene, then start the broadcast. Make sure the scene containing Video Playlist is selected and that the preview shows the intended content. Start the configured YouTube broadcast from Broadcaster.
Use rotation for a break or recurring segment
A playlist can help fill a break with sponsor advertisements or other media. XSplit documents custom transitions and looping effects for playlists and related slideshow sources, but the precise behavior available for a Video Playlist depends on the installed version’s controls. Check whether the transition and loop settings apply to individual clips, the whole sequence, or another scope before using them in a timed program.
Common problems and checks
- The playlist source is not visible in the scene: Confirm you added Video Playlist to the scene you are currently previewing, rather than another scene.
- The clips do not play in the expected sequence: Inspect the playlist’s available controls and verify the order in the installed version. The reviewed XSplit documentation does not promise a specific reorder or shuffle control.
- Playback stops at the end: Check the available loop settings and test the entire sequence. XSplit describes continuous playback and looping effects, but does not define the exact end-of-list behavior for every configuration.
- You cannot start the YouTube broadcast: Confirm YouTube Live is enabled for the channel and that the output is configured for the intended event. For a first-time channel enablement, XSplit says verification may take up to 24 hours.
- Video appears but sound does not: Check the clip’s audio, the source and scene audio settings, and the broadcast preview. The reviewed documentation does not establish that clip audio mixes automatically in every configuration.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded video playing on YouTube without leaving XSplit or a home computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams uploaded video at the quality you made it, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not live camera input. Start your free first day.
