Before building a 4K/60 fps loop in OBS, confirm that your Windows PC can encode it and that your internet connection can sustain the upload. YouTube’s English-language live-encoder table recommends 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for AV1/H.265 at 4K/2160p and 60 fps, and YouTube recommends about 20% upload headroom. Those are platform ingest recommendations—not a guarantee that your encoder or Indian ISP connection can maintain them. Check the options and limits shown in your current YouTube Live Control Room, then test the complete loop before relying on it.
Check whether 4K60 is practical on your connection and PC
A 4K60 live stream needs a stable upload at the chosen video bitrate, plus room for audio and normal network variation. YouTube says the total outgoing bitrate cannot exceed the available upload bandwidth and recommends about 20% headroom. Its guidance also notes that shared network use can reduce the bandwidth available to your computer. Test upload capacity, not just download speed.
As an illustration of the headroom guidance, a 50 Mbps video bitrate needs more than 50 Mbps of stable usable upload; audio and any other outgoing traffic add to the total. This is arithmetic based on YouTube’s recommendation, not an India-specific speed threshold or a guarantee that a speed test predicts sustained performance. YouTube’s [streaming tips](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853702) say: “Have enough bandwidth: The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.”
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if your PC and router support it. A cable can avoid some Wi-Fi variability, but it does not create bandwidth or fix an unstable ISP connection.
- Check for other devices or applications using the connection during the stream.
- Verify that the PC’s encoder supports the selected codec and can sustain 4K at 60 fps. OBS options depend on the installed OBS version and hardware; the YouTube bitrate table does not identify a suitable GPU or encoder preset.
Choose an ingest codec and bitrate
YouTube Help’s English-language table, accessed in 2026 (the page does not show a publication year), gives these 4K60 figures. The table surfaced in an Indonesia-language version differs, so do not assume one locale’s values apply universally: confirm the available settings and limits in your current Live Control Room.

These figures are YouTube ingest guidance, not a promise about image quality at every bitrate or proof that a particular PC can encode the format. Choose based on sustained upload capacity, available encoder support and the options YouTube currently accepts—not on the lower number alone. Set the YouTube and OBS stream parameters
YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS as supported ingest protocols and recommends RTMPS because it encrypts the transfer. Its guidance calls for constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not exceeding four seconds), and a frame rate up to 60 fps. For SDR, it specifies Rec. 709, 8-bit color, progressive scan and square pixels. For audio over RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 is supported; YouTube’s advanced recommendations include 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps stereo audio.

Use these as platform targets when configuring OBS, but do not treat them as a verified Windows click-by-click recipe: OBS labels and encoder choices can vary with version and hardware. Set the intended output to 3840 × 2160 at 60 fps only if the source and encoder can sustain it. Match the stream codec, rate control and keyframe interval to YouTube’s current accepted settings in Live Control Room.
At 4K/2160p, YouTube says the low-latency improvement option is unavailable; the stream is optimized for quality at normal latency. YouTube transcodes live streams for different devices, so the viewer’s playback resolution can depend on processing and device conditions.

Prepare the video as a continuous OBS source
The workflow is to add the prerecorded video as a source, configure it to repeat, ensure its audio is routed as intended, and match the OBS output to the planned 4K60 stream. Because the exact current Windows SDR controls and Media Source loop label have not been verified here, check the controls in your installed OBS version rather than relying on an assumed menu path. Do not assume a particular container or file will loop without a test.
- Open OBS and create or select the scene for the live program.
- Add the recording as a media source and configure the source’s repeat/loop behavior using the control available in your installed version.
- Confirm that video and audio appear in OBS, and check that the audio source is routed to the live mix.
- Set the video canvas/output and frame rate for the intended stream, then select an encoder and settings that your hardware and connection can sustain.
- Connect OBS to YouTube using the stream destination and stream key supplied in Live Control Room. Keep the key private; never show a real key in screenshots or share it publicly.
YouTube allows a custom stream key to be reused. Its stream settings guidance explains stream keys and the stream URL. Treat the key like a password: if it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube before the next broadcast.

Rehearse the loop and verify stream health
Before making a continuous stream public, run an unlisted or private rehearsal long enough to pass at least one complete video-loop boundary. A short test that ends before the file repeats cannot reveal loop-transition problems.
- Start the encoder ahead of the planned event and wait for YouTube’s Live Control Room preview.
- Include representative motion and audio in the test, not just a still frame or silent segment.
- Watch the OBS output and YouTube preview across the loop point. Listen for silence, abrupt audio changes or a gap, and check that the video resumes as intended.
- Review YouTube stream-health messages and monitor the stream for dropped frames or other visible interruptions.
- Check playback from the channel or watch page and, where possible, a mobile device. YouTube recommends verifying the event on viewer-facing pages as part of live operations.
Passing a rehearsal is useful evidence for that PC, file, encoder and connection under those conditions; it does not guarantee indefinite uptime. YouTube’s live streaming tips cover advance preparation, previewing and monitoring.

SDR or HDR: use the workflow your source supports
For a conventional prerecorded video, SDR is the simpler path and matches YouTube’s Rec. 709, 8-bit guidance. Do not enable HDR merely because the stream is 4K; the source and the whole encoding chain need to support it.
YouTube’s OBS HDR instructions specify OBS 30.1 or later, an HDR source, a hardware HEVC encoder, Main 10, P010 and Rec. 2100 PQ or HLG. If the recording is SDR or the computer does not offer the required hardware encoding options, keep the stream in SDR. Consult YouTube’s HDR live streaming instructions before configuring an HDR path.
Troubleshoot common 4K60 loop problems

Copyright and channel-policy checks for a prerecorded loop
Before streaming, make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast every part of the recording, including music, footage and other embedded material. A video being prerecorded, repeatedly broadcast or available online does not by itself establish permission. Review YouTube’s current live-streaming and copyright requirements in your account and in the applicable YouTube Help guidance before scheduling a long-running broadcast.
