You can run a 24/7 rain-sounds stream from OBS over JioFiber, but neither OBS nor an “unlimited” broadband plan guarantees an uninterrupted broadcast. Build a simple scene with rights-cleared audio and visuals, send it to YouTube Live using the channel’s stream key, and choose an output bitrate your connection can sustain steadily. Test the complete setup before leaving it unattended, and record locally if you need a full archive.
What you need before setting up OBS
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. Check your access in YouTube Studio before configuring OBS.
- OBS Studio installed on a computer that can remain on for the duration of the stream.
- A rain recording and visual that you created or have permission to use for continuous worldwide live streaming and, if needed, archiving.
- A stable wired or wireless connection, measured during the hours you expect to stream. A plan’s advertised speed does not establish sustained upload performance.
For YouTube, open Live Control Room and create or select an encoder stream. YouTube provides a server URL and stream key for OBS. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a screen capture, publish it, or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio.
Build the rain-sounds scene in OBS
Add the visual
Create a scene for the stream, then add a still image or a looping video of rain. A static visual is simpler to encode; a moving loop can use more computer resources and upload capacity depending on its complexity. Preview the scene for black frames, visible loop seams, and any material you do not have rights to use.
Add and check the audio
Add the rain ambience as an audio source in the same scene. Listen through the beginning and end of the file, and check that the loop does not create a gap, abrupt change in volume, or click. Watch OBS’s audio meters while it plays: avoid clipping into the red, and confirm the sound remains audible without being excessively loud. Use original audio or a license that explicitly covers worldwide continuous live use and any recording or archive you plan to keep.

Configure OBS for YouTube Live
- Set the destination. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and connect your account if that option is available. Otherwise, choose the RTMP/RTMPS service option and copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room into the matching OBS fields. Never disclose the key.
- Choose a sustainable video profile. In Settings > Video, select a resolution and frame rate appropriate for a mostly static rain scene and the viewers you want to serve. In Settings > Output, use H.264 video encoding if following YouTube’s published H.264 bitrate recommendations. Lower resolution or frame rate can reduce upload and encoding demands; test the actual result rather than assuming a particular JioFiber plan will support a given profile.
- Set rate control and bitrate. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of two seconds; its guidance says not to exceed four seconds. For H.264, YouTube lists 6 Mbps for 720p at 60 fps and 4 Mbps for the 240p–720p at 30 fps row. These are platform recommendations, not guaranteed settings for your connection. OBS advises choosing a bitrate based on stable upload capacity and service limits; it gives 75% of total upload as a starting example, not a universal rule. Leave room for household traffic and fluctuations, and reduce the bitrate if tests show instability.
- Set audio output. YouTube’s advanced recommendations specify stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps. YouTube also lists AAC or MP3 as supported audio options. Confirm the OBS audio track contains the rain source and is not muted.
- Apply and verify. Save the settings, start the stream from OBS, and check the incoming preview and stream status in YouTube Live Control Room before making the broadcast public. Follow YouTube’s current encoder guidance if its available options or labels differ from these settings.
For a rain scene with little movement, a modest profile is a sensible starting point, but this is not a tested JioFiber preset. Measure upload during likely household use and observe OBS’s dropped-frame statistics over a meaningful test period.
Test stability before leaving the stream unattended
- Run OBS with the final audio, visual, resolution, frame rate, and bitrate—not an empty test scene.
- Check that YouTube receives a clean preview, the rain audio is continuous, and the stream status remains healthy.
- Watch OBS for dropped frames and intermittent disconnections. OBS identifies these as signs of a network-path issue or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain; lower the bitrate and troubleshoot the connection if they appear.
- Repeat the test while other people and devices use the home connection. A single speed test cannot show how the line behaves under changing conditions.
- Leave a way to check both OBS and YouTube Live Control Room periodically. OBS sends the encoder feed; it does not itself provide an always-available broadcast service.
Will JioFiber allow a continuous livestream?
Jio describes JioFiber as a broadband service for uses that include streaming. That general description is not a service-level commitment to uninterrupted encoder uploads, and the available information does not establish sustained upload speed for your particular line.

Jio’s plan FAQ says plans are for home use and that RJIL may discontinue service in cases of misuse, fraudulent, unauthorised, or commercial use. It does not define whether a particular continuous or monetized ambient stream falls within that wording. If the stream is commercial or monetized, ask Jio about your exact plan and intended use rather than treating “unlimited” as permission or a guarantee.
Protect the stream from copyright problems
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can trigger a warning and placeholder image; if the content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even licensed third-party material may require the rights holder to allowlist your channel. YouTube’s live terms put responsibility for obtaining the necessary rights on the provider.

Use your own rain recording and visual, or keep documentation for a license that permits the intended territories, continuous live broadcast, and any archive. A label such as “no copyright” is not, by itself, proof that a recording is cleared for this use.
Plan for long streams and local outages
Do not rely on YouTube for a complete 24-hour archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If keeping a complete copy matters, enable local recording in OBS and check available disk space, recording format, and storage capacity before going live. You can also schedule periodic stream restarts to make shorter archives, but each restart creates an interruption.

Understand what backup power can and cannot do
An appropriately sized UPS may keep the computer and router running through a brief local power interruption. It cannot keep JioFiber’s network available during an upstream outage. Choose capacity only after accounting for the actual computer and router load and the runtime you need; no particular model or capacity can be recommended without those figures.

- YouTube does not show an incoming preview: Check that OBS is using the current server URL and stream key from Live Control Room, that the stream key was copied correctly, and that your channel can go live. Replace an exposed key.
- OBS shows dropped frames or disconnects: Test the network path, reduce the video bitrate, and repeat the test with normal household usage. Do not assume the advertised plan speed is the upload available continuously to OBS.
- The rain audio is silent or cuts out: Confirm the source is active and routed to the stream’s audio track, inspect OBS’s meters, and listen across the file’s loop point.
- The stream is interrupted after a copyright warning: Remove the matched material and use audio and visuals with rights that cover the live use. If a licensed work is involved, ask the rights holder about allowlisting the channel.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: A YouTube stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use an OBS local recording when a complete copy is important, and verify that it is being written to a drive with enough free space.
- The stream stops during a power or broadband outage: A UPS can help only with a brief local power loss and only within its capacity. It does not repair a network outage; restore the connection and check both OBS and YouTube before restarting.
