You can stream a Marathi playlist to YouTube Live with FFmpeg by creating a concat playlist, pairing it with a still image if the tracks are audio-only, and sending the encoded output to the RTMPS URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio. This workflow assumes your media files are accessible on the computer running FFmpeg and that you can create a YouTube Live stream. The examples below are starting points, not tested commands for every media file or FFmpeg build.
Choose the right playlist workflow
The language of the recordings does not change FFmpeg’s playlist format or YouTube’s encoder settings. What matters is whether your files contain audio, video, or both—and whether their streams are compatible.
| Playlist type | Practical approach | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Audio-only tracks | Use a still image as the video input and the concat playlist as the audio input. | Simple for compatible audio files; the image remains on screen throughout. |
| Video files with audio | Read and map the playlist’s video and audio streams. Inspect stream indexes with ffprobe. |
Different codecs, layouts, or time bases may require normalization and re-encoding. |
| Compatible pre-encoded media | Stream-copying may reduce CPU use if YouTube accepts the codecs and output characteristics. | Stream copy cannot normalize media or adjust its codec, profile, or bitrate. |
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer presents files sequentially, but its documentation says the files should have the same streams, including codec and time base. Incorrect or estimated durations can create timestamp gaps. If your files differ materially, normalize them first or use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes rather than assuming one simple command will handle every mixture. See the FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation.
Prepare and inspect the playlist

ffconcat version 1.0
file '/media/Marathi/track-01.mp3'
file '/media/Marathi/track-02.mp3'
Replace these example paths with files that exist on the machine running FFmpeg. Paths containing apostrophes or other special characters need to be quoted or escaped according to FFmpeg concat syntax. Check that every listed file is readable and that the audio streams are compatible.
Inspect media streams
Use ffprobe to see which streams are present before writing -map options. For example:
ffprobe -hide_banner '/media/Marathi/track-01.mp3'
For an audio-only playlist, you need an actual audio stream. For a video playlist, note the video and audio stream indexes and whether all entries have compatible codecs, channel layouts, sample rates, and timing. If the media is mismatched, do not rely on stream-copy concatenation to fix it.

Get the YouTube Live destination
- In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go Live, then use the Live Control Room’s Stream tab to create a stream or select an appropriate existing one.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions say: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Prefer the RTMPS destination shown in Live Control Room when your FFmpeg build supports it. YouTube describes RTMPS as RTMP over TLS/SSL and recommends it; the exact URL and port depend on the destination YouTube displays. See YouTube RTMPS ingest guidance.
Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it in an article, screenshot, public repository, or shell-history example. On some systems, command-line arguments can also be visible in process listings. Use a protected configuration or other secret-handling method appropriate to your system, and reset the key in Live Control Room if it is exposed.

YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed four seconds. Its H.264 bitrate recommendations include 8 Mbps for 720p30 and 720p60, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. These are platform recommendations, not a promise that any particular network can sustain them. Choose the target resolution and frame rate based on the actual output and reliable upload capacity, then check YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate recommendations before a broadcast because platform guidance can change.
For stereo audio, YouTube’s advanced settings specify 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. For 5.1 they specify 48 kHz and 384 Kbps; over RTMP/RTMPS, 5.1 audio is supported only with AAC. The example command below uses stereo AAC. If you choose another resolution, frame rate, or audio configuration, adjust the values to match it.

Run an audio playlist with a still image
This illustrative command loops a compatible audio playlist under a still image and encodes the result for an RTMP/RTMPS-style FLV output:
ffmpeg -re
-loop 1 -framerate 30 -i cover.jpg
-stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.ffconcat
-map 0:v:0 -map 1:a:0
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune stillimage
-pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60 -b:v 2500k -maxrate 2500k -bufsize 5000k
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv 'rtmps://PASTE_THE_LIVE_CONTROL_ROOM_URL_HERE/STREAM_KEY'
Replace cover.jpg with a real image and the destination placeholder with the exact URL/key format provided for your stream. Never paste a real key into published copy. -stream_loop -1 repeats the concat input; -re reads it at its native rate rather than sending the media as fast as possible. -g 60 at 30 fps sets a 60-frame GOP, or two seconds. The shown 30 fps, GOP, audio settings, and 2,500 Kbps video bitrate are examples—not universal requirements. Choose video bitrate for your target and dependable upload speed. The libx264 encoder must be available in your local FFmpeg build; option availability also depends on that build.
For a video playlist
Do not add the still-image input if the playlist already contains video. Inspect the streams with ffprobe, then map the playlist’s video and audio streams explicitly. A command pattern is:

ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.ffconcat
-map 0:v:0 -map 0:a:0
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60
-b:v 2500k -maxrate 2500k -bufsize 5000k
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv 'rtmps://PASTE_THE_LIVE_CONTROL_ROOM_URL_HERE/STREAM_KEY'
This pattern assumes the concat input presents the mapped streams consistently. Adapt resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and mapping to the real files and YouTube target. If you stream-copy compatible source streams with -c copy, CPU use may be lower, but you cannot re-encode to meet a different codec, profile, or bitrate. If compatibility or timestamp behavior is uncertain, normalize and re-encode instead.
Start, verify, and stop the broadcast
- Start FFmpeg and watch its output for missing-file errors, encoder failures, or repeated connection errors.
- In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and check stream health. Listen for audio and confirm that playlist transitions occur as expected.
- For a scheduled stream, YouTube says to wait until the preview appears and then click Go live.
- When you want to stop sending the feed, stop FFmpeg. YouTube’s encoder documentation says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not establish uninterrupted operation or unlimited archiving for an indefinitely running stream.
YouTube recommends testing under conditions similar to the planned event and monitoring stream health and messages. Its encoder and technical guidance is available at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and encoder settings.

Use the RTMPS URL displayed in Live Control Room for the command patterns above. If an SSL or connection error occurs, verify that you copied the RTMPS URL and are using the port YouTube supplied rather than assuming a universal endpoint. YouTube’s RTMPS guidance notes port 443 where applicable.

HLS is a separate ingest workflow, not a drop-in replacement for the RTMP/RTMPS FLV command. YouTube’s HLS requirements include TS segments, segment durations of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no byte ranges. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP. Use it only when deliberately configuring an HLS encoder and following the current YouTube HLS ingest requirements.
Troubleshoot common failures
- No preview in Live Control Room: Check the exact server URL and key, the destination protocol, outbound network access, and FFmpeg’s output log. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
- No sound: Confirm that the playlist files contain audio, inspect streams with
ffprobe, and map the correct audio stream. For the typical RTMP/RTMPS workflow, encode to AAC; YouTube also lists MP3 as supported. - A gap or stall at a track change: Confirm every path resolves, the concat header is the first line, and the files have compatible streams and accurate durations. Normalize mismatched files or use a concat-filter workflow that re-encodes.
- Buffering or ingest warnings: Reduce resolution or bitrate to a level supported by YouTube guidance and your reliable sustained upload capacity. A speed test alone does not guarantee that the connection will sustain the stream.
- RTMPS SSL error: Confirm that the copied destination is the RTMPS URL shown for this stream, not an RTMP URL, and follow the displayed port and current YouTube guidance.

Copyright and YouTube channel rules still apply
Using FFmpeg or a cloud playlist service does not grant rights to the Marathi songs, recordings, films, or other material you stream. Make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for the recordings and any images you use, and review YouTube’s current copyright and live-stream policies before broadcasting. Repeated or reused material can also affect a channel’s monetization eligibility; streaming a playlist does not by itself establish that the channel meets YouTube’s monetization policies.
For a checklist before setting up a continuous prerecorded stream, see StreamNeo’s copyright safety checklist.
