To keep a prerecorded-video playlist streaming on YouTube without leaving your computer on, use a cloud streaming service that uploads your media and sends the encoder feed from its own infrastructure. Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast, connect the service using YouTube authorization or the stream URL and key, arrange your playlist, then start the stream. Once the cloud service is sending the feed, your home PC and internet connection can be off.
This approach is for prerecorded videos. A live camera or interactive show still needs a live source and a suitable cloud-ingest workflow; uploading a recording does not turn it into a live camera feed.
Before you start: check your channel and content
Confirm live-stream eligibility
YouTube requires the channel to be verified and not to have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of a planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and first-time activation guidance.
Make sure you have the rights to the playlist
Use recordings you own or are authorized to broadcast. Repeating a playlist does not exempt it from YouTube’s copyright rules, Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, or monetization policies. YouTube may restrict live-streaming access, and a cloud host does not change those obligations.

Set up the cloud stream
- Create or schedule the YouTube broadcast. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create a stream or schedule one. Set the title, privacy, and archive options in YouTube; these remain your responsibility even when a cloud service sends the video. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup.
- Connect the cloud encoder. Depending on the service, authorize your YouTube account or enter the broadcast’s server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: share it only with a cloud service you have deliberately chosen and trust. YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the server URL and stream key; some services also offer account authorization.
- Upload your recordings and build the playlist. Check the provider’s accepted file formats, upload limits, included storage, and playlist controls before transferring media. Arrange the order, confirm whether looping is enabled, and make any schedule changes before going live. Provider descriptions explain their own upload and playlist features, but do not by themselves establish independent reliability.
- Choose a secure ingest protocol when available. Google documents RTMPS as RTMP carried through an SSL connection and specifies a valid YouTube RTMPS ingestion endpoint on port 443. Use RTMPS if both the cloud encoder and provider support it. See YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.
- Start the broadcast and verify it in YouTube. Start sending from the cloud service, then check the preview and status in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm the picture, audio, title, privacy, and public watch page behave as intended before relying on the stream.
- Plan for long runs and archives. YouTube Help says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” This applies to streams under that duration; do not assume a longer continuous broadcast will produce one complete archive. Keep the source recordings and ask the provider how it handles disconnects, restarts, and stream rotation.

Questions to resolve before paying
- Does the service accept your file formats, storage volume, resolution, and frame rate? Are there upload or simultaneous-stream limits?
- Can you edit the playlist and schedule as needed, and does it loop automatically?
- Does it use YouTube authorization, a stream key, or both? Decide which connection method suits your account permissions and security needs.
- What happens if the provider loses its feed or YouTube drops the broadcast? Ask whether it detects interruptions, reconnects, or restarts the YouTube broadcast; do not treat a vendor claim as an end-to-end uptime guarantee.
- Compare total recurring cost and maintenance. A managed service handles more of the server and encoder operation; a self-managed cloud server gives you more control but leaves configuration, monitoring, updates, and recovery to you.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
You cannot start a live broadcast
Check channel verification and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
YouTube does not receive the encoder feed
Recheck the stream URL and key against the selected broadcast, confirm the cloud service is actually sending, and verify that the key was entered into the intended service. If supported, confirm the RTMPS endpoint and port 443 rather than assuming a different ingest setting.

The preview has no picture or sound
Check the uploaded file itself and the playlist selection, then confirm the preview in Live Control Room before making the watch page public. Verify the cloud service reports that it is sending the expected media.
The broadcast stops or does not restart
Ask the provider whether its recovery feature reconnects only the encoder feed or also restarts a YouTube broadcast that has ended. If the service does not document this behavior clearly, test it in a trial or ask support; continuous operation is not guaranteed by YouTube’s archive rule.

You need a complete recording of a long run
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but a longer stream should not be assumed to archive as one complete file. Preserve the original uploads separately and confirm the provider’s handling of long-running broadcasts and restarts.
