You can’t set custom minimum or maximum Super Chat amounts as a creator using the controls documented by YouTube. You can turn Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off in YouTube Studio; viewers choose their own amount in the purchase flow. YouTube’s published guidance does not describe a creator setting for custom amount boundaries.
What creators can control
The creator-side controls YouTube documents are for enabling or disabling Supers, not setting custom minimum and maximum purchase amounts. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers management guidance and its instructions for turning Supers on or off.
If your current Studio interface appears to offer an amount-bound control, check its description and scope in your account before relying on it: the published creator instructions reviewed here do not establish that creators can impose custom limits. The amount selector YouTube documents is part of the viewer’s purchase flow.
How to turn Super Chat and Super Stickers on
- Open the YouTube Studio mobile app.
- Tap Earn at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Supers card. If it is not displayed, go to the Supers section, tap Get started, then tap Turn on.
- If YouTube prompts you during first-time setup, follow the instructions to sign the Commerce Product Module.
After setup, Supers can appear on eligible live streams and Premieres. If a third party administers your channel rights, YouTube advises consulting that party before enabling Supers.

How viewers choose an amount—and what the limits mean
On a computer, a viewer opens the dollar-sign control in a visible live chat, selects Super Chat, then drags the slider or types an amount. They can add a message and select Buy and send. This is a viewer-side choice, not a creator-set minimum or maximum. YouTube’s computer purchase instructions also describe these amount-related thresholds:
- Purchases below US$5 or the local equivalent do not appear in the ticker. This is a display threshold, not a creator setting that blocks smaller purchases.
- YouTube lists combined viewer spending limits of up to US$2,000 per day and US$8,000 per week across Jewels, Super Chats, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. These are aggregate spending limits, not per-channel bounds a creator can configure.
YouTube does not publish a complete selectable amount range by currency in the reviewed guidance. Avoid treating the ticker threshold or aggregate viewer limits as a way to set a custom minimum or maximum for your channel.

Why Supers may be missing or unavailable
A missing Supers card or a disabled purchase option can reflect eligibility, location, policy, or the settings and type of the specific video. YouTube’s eligibility, availability, and policy guidance says creators must meet fan-funding requirements, live in a supported location, and comply with applicable terms and policies, including the Commerce Product Module.
Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. They are also unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. Check those conditions before troubleshooting a missing purchase option.

YouTube describes Supers as fan-funding features, not crowdfunding or donation tools, and says creators are responsible for complying with applicable laws. For confirmed Supers revenue, creators receive 70% after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube says it currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees. Troubleshooting
- You can’t find the Supers card: open Earn in the YouTube Studio mobile app and look for the Supers section’s Get started option. If setup still is not available, check fan-funding eligibility, supported-location availability, and applicable terms.
- A viewer cannot buy a Super Chat: check whether the video is age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser, and whether live chat or comments are disabled.
- A small purchase is missing from the ticker: YouTube says purchases below US$5 or the local equivalent do not appear there. Ticker visibility should not be confused with a creator-enforced purchase minimum.
- You want to restrict large contributions: the published creator setup instructions do not document a custom maximum. The daily and weekly limits YouTube lists apply to combined viewer spending across specified Supers-related products, not a limit you set for your channel.
