To send bhajans from a Windows player into OBS, capture that player with Application Audio Capture if your system supports it, then disable OBS’s global Desktop Audio to avoid capturing the same sound twice. Check the Audio Mixer meter, make a short recording or test stream, and listen back before leaving the broadcast running.
Choose one audio capture route
First identify the Windows application playing the bhajans and the playback device it uses. The right OBS setup depends on your Windows version, player compatibility, and whether you want to include other desktop sounds.

Set up OBS to capture the bhajan player
Use Application Audio Capture when supported
- In OBS, add an Application Audio Capture source to the scene you will stream.
- Select the application that plays the bhajans.
- Open Settings → Audio and set global Desktop Audio to Disabled. Otherwise, the player may be picked up both by the application source and the desktop source, creating doubled audio or echo.
OBS documents per-application capture for Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11. If the source is unavailable or does not capture your player, use a different route below.
Use a playback device globally or in the scene
For global capture, go to Settings → Audio and select the Windows playback device the bhajan player uses for the relevant Desktop Audio device. Watch the Audio Mixer while the player is running; its meter should respond.

For scene-only capture, add an Audio Output Capture source and select the intended device. If that device is also selected as a global Desktop Audio device, disable one of the two paths. OBS warns that capturing the same device both globally and as a source can create echo.
Use VB-Cable only if direct application capture fails
OBS documents a virtual-cable workaround for an application that is incompatible with Application Audio Capture: route the player’s output to CABLE Input, then add an Audio Input Capture source in OBS and select CABLE Output. This is a fallback, not a required part of every setup.

Check the mix, monitoring, and volume
- Check the Audio Mixer meter: Start playback and confirm the selected source responds. A stationary meter usually means OBS is not receiving audio through that route.
- Use monitoring for local listening, if wanted: OBS’s mixer monitoring control plays a source through the monitoring device chosen in Settings → Audio. Monitoring helps you hear the mix locally; it is not the routing step that sends audio to viewers.
- Check Windows volume controls: System and per-application volume sliders can affect the level OBS receives. If the sound is missing, too quiet, or too loud, check those sliders as well as the player and OBS levels.
- Listen through the capture chain: If practical, listen to the source and then to the OBS-monitored mix. Headphones can make it easier to assess the mix, but no particular headphones or audio interface are required by this setup.
Make a test before starting the continuous broadcast
- Load the scene and start the bhajan player as you intend to use it during the broadcast.
- Make a short OBS recording or test stream.
- Listen back and confirm the bhajan is audible, is not doubled, and does not include unwanted Windows or application sounds.
- If the result is wrong, return to the capture route, device selection, duplicate-source setting, and Windows volume sliders, then test again.
The OBS Project’s Quick Start Guide recommends running a test for a few minutes before going live and listening to a recording. That check confirms the audio path at the time of the test; it does not guarantee uninterrupted operation for a 24/7 broadcast.
Set stream output for the destination platform
The right audio encoder and bitrate depend on the streaming platform, which is not specified here. Check that platform’s current requirements before choosing OBS output values; the audio-capture setup above does not determine them.
