Netflix does not currently document a way to upload a personal photo as a profile picture. You can change the avatar to another Netflix-provided icon on Android, iPhone, iPad, or a computer. On a PC, a third-party browser extension may display your own image in Netflix, but that is an unofficial, browser-dependent visual workaround—not a change to your Netflix account that is guaranteed to sync elsewhere.
Change your Netflix profile icon officially
Netflix calls these avatars profile icons. The supported editor lets you choose from Netflix’s available artwork, including icons associated with Netflix shows and films. Netflix accounts can have up to five profiles, subject to limitations on some extra-member accounts. Android, iPhone, and iPad
- Open the Netflix app.
- Tap My Netflix in the lower-right corner.
- Tap the current profile name at the top.
- Tap Manage Profiles.
- Select the profile you want to edit.
- Tap the edit or pencil icon.
- Open the profile-image or icon selector. The exact label can vary by app version and device.
- Choose one of Netflix’s available icons, then save or confirm if Netflix asks.
You should see the new icon on the profile-selection screen after the change is saved. This workflow offers a Netflix icon picker; it does not present a documented Upload photo control.
Desktop browser on Windows or Mac
- Open Netflix in a desktop browser and go to Manage Profiles.
- Choose the profile to edit.
- Click the pencil or edit control.
- Select an available Netflix profile icon.
- Save the change.
- Return to the profile-selection screen to verify the result.
Netflix describes the web route and profile-edit control in its profile help article. The browser editor changes the selected Netflix icon, not a locally stored portrait from your computer.

Can you upload your own photo, logo, or selfie?
Not through Netflix’s documented mobile app or standard web profile-management workflow. Netflix’s current instructions explain how to edit a profile and select an available icon, while its icon announcement describes a collection of Netflix-provided artwork. They do not document a control for uploading an image from your phone or computer.
That is a statement about the current documented workflow, not a claim that Netflix could never test or introduce the feature in a particular region. A Google Account photo, Apple ID image, Microsoft account picture, browser avatar, or Windows user image also does not automatically become your Netflix icon.

Unofficial PC workaround: browser extensions
Some Chrome Web Store listings advertise extensions that replace the normal Netflix avatar with a custom image in a desktop browser. Examples include MyPicture for Netflix: custom profile picture and Custom profile picture for Netflix™ [QVI].
These are third-party tools, not Netflix products. A listing establishes that the tool is advertised, but not that Netflix supports it, that it is safe for every account, or that it will continue working after a Netflix site update.

How to evaluate one safely
- Open the extension’s official store listing rather than downloading an installer from a random website.
- Check the publisher name, requested permissions, privacy disclosure, ratings, reviews, and update history.
- Do not install it if it requests access broader than the task reasonably needs.
- Never enter your Netflix password, cookies, account tokens, or payment details into an extension or unrelated site.
- If you proceed, install it in the Chrome profile you use for Netflix and follow the publisher’s own setup steps.
- Test it with a noncritical Netflix profile first, if possible.
- Remove it from the browser if it causes display problems, stops receiving updates, or requests suspicious access.
What the workaround may and may not do

Use only an image you are comfortable showing to other people who use the account. Avoid sensitive personal photos, copyrighted artwork you do not have permission to use, or anything inappropriate for a shared profile.
Fix missing profile controls or an unchanged icon
“I cannot find Manage Profiles”
- On mobile, open My Netflix, tap the profile name, and then choose Manage Profiles.
- On a computer, open Netflix’s web-based profile-management page.
- If the app does not expose the control, try the same account in a desktop browser.
- Leave a Kids profile before attempting account-level profile changes; Kids profiles have a simplified experience and a recognizable Kids logo. See Netflix’s Kids profile guidance.
“I selected an icon, but it still looks the same”
- Switch to another profile and switch back.
- Refresh or restart the Netflix app or browser tab.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Check another device to determine whether the delay is local to one device.
Netflix describes profile switching through My Netflix on mobile and the profile icon on the web. Its guidance also recommends switching profiles or signing out and back in when a change needs to refresh; account-level profile locks and related controls are covered at Netflix Help.

“The extension worked, then stopped”
- Check whether Netflix changed its profile-management page.
- Review the extension’s publisher page and update date.
- Disable conflicting extensions and test again.
- Remove the extension if its permissions changed or its behavior cannot be trusted.
“It appears on my PC but not my TV”
That can be expected. A browser extension may only replace the desktop page’s appearance and may never modify the account-level icon. No cross-device synchronization is guaranteed for these tools.

- Give each profile a clearly different name.
- Choose distinct Netflix-provided icons for household members.
- Match an icon to each person’s favorite Netflix character or show.
- Use the built-in Kids profile experience for children instead of installing a customization tool.

Bottom line: Netflix officially lets you replace a profile icon with another Netflix-provided icon, but its current documented workflow has no personal-photo upload option.
