YouTube does not currently provide a normal web or mobile screen that shows the exact date you subscribed to an individual channel. You can manage your subscriptions and open your Subscriptions feed, but the documented consumer interface does not expose a per-channel subscription date.
For an exact timestamp, the dependable method is the YouTube Data API. After you authorize access to your own account, the API returns each subscription’s snippet.publishedAt value—the date and time that subscription record was created.
The short answer
If you only want to check a channel’s subscription date through YouTube’s ordinary website or app, there is no documented date display to open. The Subscribe button, channel page, Subscriptions list, and public subscriber lists do not provide a reliable way to reveal that information.
If you need the exact date and time, use an authorized request to the YouTube Data API:

What the regular YouTube interface can show
YouTube lets you view and manage the channels you follow, and it documents controls for changing whether your subscriptions are public or private. Subscriptions are private by default. You can read the current consumer guidance in YouTube’s subscription help documentation.
Those controls answer questions such as:
- Which channels you currently subscribe to
- What videos appear in your Subscriptions feed
- Whether other people can see your subscriptions
They do not document a history page showing the exact date that you subscribed to each channel. In particular, do not rely on claims that you can hover over the Subscribe button, inspect a public subscription list, or find the date on the channel page. Those are not supported as general solutions by YouTube’s official documentation.
Exact method: use the YouTube Data API
The API’s subscriptions.list method can retrieve the authenticated user’s subscriptions when the request uses mine=true. The request must be authorized for the Google account whose subscriptions you want to inspect.
1. Authorize your own Google account
OAuth 2.0 is Google’s permission process. It lets an application request access to your YouTube account without you giving the application your password. Use an official Google developer tool or your own program, and review the requested permissions before approving access.
Only authorize an application you trust. Never send a password, browser cookie, session token, refresh token, or OAuth access token to someone who offers to “look it up” for you. If you write your own client, keep credentials out of public repositories and revoke access later from your Google Account if you no longer need it.
2. Make the API request
The essential request has this form:
GET https://youtube.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/subscriptions
?part=snippet
&mine=true
&maxResults=50
&pageToken=PAGE_TOKEN
The pageToken parameter is only needed after the first response provides a nextPageToken. The request also needs an OAuth authorization header:

A response contains subscription resources. A simplified example looks like this:
{
"items": [
{
"snippet": {
"channelTitle": "Example Channel",
"resourceId": {
"channelId": "CHANNEL_ID"
},
"publishedAt": "2024-05-12T18:30:00Z"
}
}
]
}
Use snippet.resourceId.channelId to identify the channel whenever possible. Channel titles are less reliable because titles can change and different channels can have similar or identical names.
Once you have found the right item, read:
items[].snippet.publishedAt
The API documentation defines this field as the date and time the subscription resource was created. It is not the channel’s creation date, the date you first watched a video, or the date you first enabled notifications. See the snippet.publishedAt field reference.
Do not forget pagination
The first response may not contain every subscription on a large account. Check whether the response includes nextPageToken:
{
"nextPageToken": "NEXT_PAGE_TOKEN",
"items": [ ... ]
}
If it does, make another request using that value as pageToken. Continue until there is no next-page token. Otherwise, you may incorrectly conclude that a channel is not subscribed or overlook its date simply because it appeared on a later page.
How to interpret the timestamp
A value such as:
2024-05-12T18:30:00Z
means:
2024-05-12: May 12, 202418:30:00: 6:30 p.m. and 0 secondsZ: Coordinated Universal Time, or UTC
Convert the timestamp to your local time zone before recording it. Depending on your location, the local calendar date could differ from the UTC date around midnight. Preserve the original UTC value as well if you need an unambiguous record.

Important limitation: unsubscribing and subscribing again
publishedAt describes when the current subscription record was created. If you unsubscribed from a channel and later subscribed again, the returned value should be treated as the creation time of the current record—not automatically as the first date you ever subscribed.
The API does not, through this subscription resource, promise a complete lifetime history of every previous subscribe and unsubscribe event. Therefore, the date may not answer “When did I first ever subscribe?” if the subscription was previously removed.
Can the channel owner see when you subscribed?
Not as a general replacement for your own account history. YouTube says private subscriptions are not shown to other users or in a channel’s subscriber list. Creator-facing recent-subscriber tools are limited to people who make their subscriptions public and subscribed within the last 28 days. That is not a complete historical record and cannot reliably recover an older or private subscription date.
Do not ask a channel owner to look up your date as though they have access to your private account history.
Could Google Takeout help?
Google Takeout may be worth trying if you want an archive of your account data or are investigating information that may exist in an export. However, the official material does not establish that a standard Takeout download will always contain an exact subscription-creation timestamp for every channel.
If you use Takeout:
- Export the YouTube or YouTube-related account data offered for your account.
- Open the exported subscription files and look for channel identifiers, titles, and any timestamp fields.
- Compare the result with the API rather than assuming a missing field means the subscription has no date.
The file names, formats, and fields can vary by export type and by the account data available. Treat Takeout as a secondary archival or investigation route, not a guaranteed substitute for the authorized API method.

Be especially cautious of these common claims:
- “Hover over Subscribe to see the date.”
- “The channel’s public subscriber list contains your full subscription history.”
- “Paste your YouTube cookie here and we will retrieve the dates.”
- “Give us your Google login to generate a report.”
The safe principle is simple: use an official Google authorization flow, request only the access needed to read your subscriptions, and keep all credentials private.
Best method by situation
| What you need | Best option | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| See which channels you currently follow | YouTube’s normal Subscriptions area | Shows current subscriptions, not a documented per-channel date |
| Find the exact creation time of a current subscription | Authorized YouTube Data API request | Read snippet.publishedAt |
| Search for older account records or preserve your data | Google Takeout | Useful to investigate, but the timestamp is not guaranteed |
| Recover the first date ever subscribed after unsubscribing | No guaranteed method in the documented subscription resource | The current record may reflect only the later subscription |
Quick checklist
- Use the Google account that owns the subscription.
- Authorize access through a trusted application or your own code.
- Call
subscriptions.listwithpart=snippetandmine=true. - Follow every
nextPageTokenuntil all subscriptions have been checked. - Match by channel ID instead of title when possible.
- Read
snippet.publishedAt. - Convert the UTC timestamp to your local time zone.
- Remember that the value represents the current subscription record, not necessarily the first-ever subscription.
- Do not share passwords, cookies, tokens, or private account data with an untrusted lookup service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see the exact subscription date in the YouTube app?
Not through a documented, ordinary YouTube app screen. The app can show and manage your subscriptions, but YouTube does not document a per-channel subscription-date display for viewers.
What API field shows when I subscribed?
The YouTube Data API returns the value in items[].snippet.publishedAt when you request the subscription resource’s snippet part. It is an ISO 8601 timestamp for the creation of the subscription record.

One-click scans. No signup required.
Why is my channel missing from the API response?
Check that you authorized the correct Google account, that you used mine=true, and that you followed all pagination tokens. Also confirm that the channel title has not changed and search by channel ID where possible.
Can I find the date I first subscribed if I unsubscribed before?
Not reliably from the current subscription resource. If you unsubscribed and later subscribed again, publishedAt should be interpreted as the creation time of the current record, not automatically the first-ever subscription date.
The Bottom Line
There is no simple date display in regular YouTube. For the exact time attached to a current subscription, authorize the correct Google account and retrieve the subscription through the YouTube Data API, then read snippet.publishedAt. Treat Google Takeout as a possible secondary investigation, and never give passwords, cookies, or OAuth tokens to an untrusted lookup service.
