YouTube Studio can schedule an upcoming live event, but it will not automatically turn a YouTube playlist into a live broadcast. To present prerecorded videos as a live feed, schedule the event in YouTube Studio and separately arrange an encoder or playout service to send the video and audio to YouTube. For viewers in India and the Gulf, publish the full date, time, and timezone—and name the Gulf country or city—so everyone can check the start time accurately.
What you need to schedule
There are two separate jobs: creating the upcoming event viewers can visit, and supplying its live video feed. YouTube Studio creates and manages the event; an encoder or playout system sends the stream to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key. A YouTube playlist organizes videos, but YouTube’s playlist documentation does not establish that it will automatically play those videos as a live feed. YouTube’s encoder guide and playlist guide describe these as distinct functions.
First decide which format you mean:
- A real-time broadcast: someone or something sends live audio and video through a supported streaming method.
- Prerecorded videos presented as live: an encoder or playout service sends the prepared material as a live feed. The playlist alone does not perform this task.
YouTube supports mobile, webcam, and encoder streaming methods; the scheduling workflow does not by itself require buying particular hardware. See YouTube’s live-streaming getting-started guide for its available approaches.
Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open Manage → Schedule stream.
- Choose to create a new stream or reuse settings, then enter the event details and schedule it. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover scheduling a stream in Live Control Room.
- Check the scheduled date and time shown in Studio. If you use the Live Streaming API, its scheduled start is represented as an ISO 8601 datetime; consult the LiveBroadcasts API documentation.
- Copy the event’s watch-page URL and share it in advance. A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming, and viewers can choose Notify me. See YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
Set a clear time for India and Gulf viewers
Use one reference time for your operations, then state the complete calendar date and timezone wherever you announce the event. For a mixed audience, give the India time and the local time for the actual Gulf country or city you are targeting. “Gulf time” is not precise enough to stand in for every viewer’s local time.

- Write the date, time, and timezone label together; do not announce only a time such as “8 pm.”
- Verify the relevant country- or city-specific offset against a current time-zone reference before publishing. Gulf locations should not be assumed to share one offset.
- Check both the event time displayed in Live Control Room and the encoder or playout start schedule against your chosen reference.
- If the event time changes, update the event and tell viewers who already have the link.
YouTube’s instructions for scheduled live streams do not establish a dedicated IST/Gulf timezone picker. Do not assume the live-event controls behave like scheduled video publication: YouTube’s separate scheduled video publishing guide describes date, time, and timezone controls for video publication, which is not evidence of identical controls for live events.
Send a prerecorded playlist as the live feed
After scheduling the event, configure an encoder or playout service to deliver the intended audio and video to YouTube. The stream URL and stream key connect the encoder to YouTube; follow the encoder’s current instructions and the fields shown in Live Control Room. Keep the event schedule and the outgoing feed schedule aligned. Adding videos to a YouTube playlist is not a substitute for configuring that feed.

If you operate the encoder yourself, plan who will start and monitor it, how you will respond to an interruption, and how the playlist should proceed when one video ends. Those details depend on the encoder or playout system you choose; the YouTube scheduling workflow alone does not provide an automatic playlist playout queue.
Promote the event and keep a dependable schedule
Share the watch page early so viewers in both regions can open the event and select Notify me. For a recurring documentary programme, choose a schedule you can sustain, communicate it clearly, and let viewers know about changes. YouTube’s live upload schedule tips recommend communicating a consistent, sustainable schedule and using scheduling or reused settings where appropriate.
