YouTube Studio schedules the live event and its watch page; it does not, by itself, schedule a repeating sequence of prerecorded product demos as the live video feed. To run demos continuously, schedule the YouTube event and use an encoder or playout service that explicitly supports continuous prerecorded playback. The encoder or service supplies the video; YouTube hosts the event.
Choose between a scheduled demo event and a continuous rotation
| Workflow | What gets scheduled | What supplies the video |
|---|---|---|
| One-off product demo | The YouTube Live event and its watch page | An encoder, such as software on a computer or a compatible hardware setup |
| Continuous prerecorded rotation | The YouTube event plus a playback sequence managed by the chosen encoder or playout service | A system that explicitly supports continuous playback and scheduled prerecorded video |
YouTube says scheduling a stream lets you promote it. Viewers can visit the scheduled watch page and set reminders. But scheduling the event is not the same as scheduling the videos to play: verify that your encoder or playout provider supports the rotation you need. YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as a cloud service for 24/7 prerecorded streaming, but that listing does not establish its current price, terms, or every operational capability.
Prepare your YouTube channel and demo assets
Allow time for live access
If this is your first live stream, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Do not leave activation until the day of a product launch. YouTube’s live-stream tips recommend setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
Check the videos and rights
- Confirm that you have the rights to every video, music track, image, and other material in the rotation. A scheduled event does not grant permission to broadcast copyrighted material.
- Make the sequence suitable for a viewer joining at any point. A continuous stream has no guaranteed beginning for each viewer, so repeat essential product context, offer clear on-screen identification, and avoid relying on an earlier segment to explain a later one.
- Preview the complete sequence, including transitions, audio levels, and any end cards. Confirm that your playout setup is configured to loop or advance through the demos as intended.
Schedule the YouTube Live event
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose Schedule stream.
- Choose whether to reuse settings from an earlier stream or create a new event.
- Set the event’s title, time, visibility, and other metadata. Use a title and description that accurately describe the demos and any product claims.
- Save the event and share its scheduled watch page so viewers can find it and set a reminder.
For a repeating rotation, this creates the YouTube event; it does not create or control the playlist. Configure the actual playback sequence in the encoder or playout service.

Connect the encoder or playout service
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the scheduled event and locate its stream URL and stream key, unless your encoder offers a direct YouTube connection.
- In the encoder or playout service, select YouTube as the destination and either authorize its direct integration or enter the event’s stream URL and key.
- Treat the stream key like a password: it authorizes a system to send video to your channel. Keep it private, use the key associated with the intended event, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Load the demo file or playlist and set the playback behavior—such as sequence order and looping—using that service’s controls. Check its documentation for how it handles end-of-list playback, reconnects, and scheduled start times; these controls vary by provider.
- Start the encoder or playout output. Wait for the incoming video preview in Live Control Room and check both picture and sound before selecting Go live, unless the event’s auto-start configuration is set to start it automatically.
YouTube documents auto-start and auto-stop controls for live streams. Check the settings on the specific scheduled event rather than assuming the event will start or end unattended.
Monitor the broadcast and protect the replay
- Before going live, confirm the correct event is selected and the preview shows the intended demo. Listen for clear audio and check that the image is not frozen, cropped, or blank.
- During the stream, monitor the picture and sound and watch for interruptions. If you are recording a local backup, confirm that the recording file is still growing.
- Plan an independent archive for important demos. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers that a multi-day continuous stream will have a complete replay.
Which continuous-stream option fits?
For a DIY setup, a computer encoder can send prerecorded video, but the computer and the playback system must remain available for the feed to continue. A hosted playout service can handle playback in the cloud, but check its current documentation for scheduling, looping, monitoring, interruption recovery, archive workflow, and price before choosing it. YouTube’s encoder directory is a starting point, not a guarantee of a provider’s current terms or features.
