To stay live continuously, connect the event to an encoder running on a computer or a cloud service that sends the video feed. Then start the feed early, check the preview and stream health, and monitor audio and video while it runs.
Before you schedule: enable live streaming
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first time you enable live streaming, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. Check access before setting an event time so you have time to resolve eligibility or activation issues. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions
Schedule the live event in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- Open Manage, then choose the option to schedule a stream.
- Create a new event or reuse settings from a previous stream. Set the title, description, visibility and scheduled start time for the event.
- Save the event. Scheduling lets you share and promote the event page; it does not start a video feed or make a file loop.
Use the scheduled event’s stream details when configuring the system that will transmit the video. YouTube’s steps and event workflow are documented in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Choose how to send the prerecorded video
You need an encoder or hosted streaming service to deliver the video to YouTube. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders, and its encoder information lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded-video streams. The choice depends on whether you want to operate a local computer and connection or use a hosted service; YouTube’s documentation does not establish comparative prices, reliability or plan limits.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Local encoder
A software encoder runs on your computer, which must remain powered on and connected for the feed to continue. A hardware encoder is another local option, but it is not mandatory. Confirm that the encoder can play your intended file or playlist continuously, and plan for what happens if the computer, power or network connection fails.
Hosted service
A hosted service sends the feed from the cloud, so your home computer does not need to stay on. Check the service’s current support for playlists or looping, stream recovery, monitoring, storage, archive needs, key handling, price and plan limits before relying on it. YouTube’s documentation identifies Gyre for the 24/7 prerecorded use case but does not compare services or verify their operating guarantees. YouTube’s encoder information

Connect the encoder to the scheduled event
- Open the scheduled event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the stream URL and key in your encoder or hosted service as its destination. Use the event-specific details so the feed goes to the intended live event.
- Protect the stream key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it or share it beyond trusted operators. YouTube explains how stream keys direct and authorize an encoder feed in its encoder setup guidance.
- Choose the prerecorded video or playlist and configure continuous playback in the encoder or service. The exact looping controls depend on the tool you use.
Start early, verify the feed, and go live
- Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. This gives you time to catch connection or configuration problems before viewers arrive.
- Wait for the video preview in Live Control Room. Confirm that the expected picture and audio are reaching YouTube and check the stream-health indicators.
- When the preview and health checks look right, select Go live if the workflow requires you to start the event manually.
- Continuously monitor audio and video quality during the stream. A scheduled start time is not proof that the feed is present or healthy. See YouTube live streaming tips.
Plan the archive and check content rights
Archives for long streams
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single stream longer than 12 hours will produce a complete archive. If you need a full record of a nonstop broadcast, keep your own recording or arrange another archive plan rather than relying on the automatic archive for a stream beyond that limit. YouTube’s encoder guidance
Copyright and reused material
Having a file available to play does not establish that you have the right to broadcast it. Before scheduling, confirm that you own or have permission to use all footage, music and other material in the video, including material that may be licensed only for a different use. Also consider whether the channel’s programming offers viewers meaningful original value; continuously replaying material does not itself establish compliance with YouTube policies. Review the applicable YouTube rules for your channel and content before broadcasting.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- You cannot schedule or start a live stream: Check channel verification, live-stream eligibility and any restrictions in the prior 90 days. For first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The event exists but shows no video: Scheduling only creates the event. Start the encoder or hosted feed, check its stream URL and key, and confirm that the selected video is playing.
- The event preview is missing or unhealthy: Confirm the encoder is sending to the correct event, then inspect the connection and encoder status. Start at least 15 minutes early to leave room to fix issues.
- Viewers hear no sound or see the wrong picture: Check the source file and encoder’s audio/video selection, then verify the preview before going live. Continue monitoring after the event begins.
- The stream stops when you leave home: A local setup depends on its computer, power and network staying available. Use a hosted option if you do not want those local dependencies, and check what recovery behavior the provider actually offers.
- The archive is incomplete or missing after a very long broadcast: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed complete archive for longer continuous streams. Keep a separate recording or use an archive workflow suited to the duration.
