How to Schedule a YouTube Livestream in XSplit Broadcaster—and What to Know About Prerecorded Video

Create the YouTube event first, select it in XSplit, and check Manual Transition. Scheduling a livestream does not automatically schedule a prerecorded file to play.

To schedule a YouTube livestream using XSplit Broadcaster, create the event in YouTube Studio first, then select that event in XSplit and start the encoder feed. Scheduling the event does not, by itself, schedule a local prerecorded file to play. If you only want an uploaded video to become public at a set time, use YouTube’s separate scheduled-publishing feature.

Choose the right kind of scheduled video

What you want Use What happens at the scheduled time
An event-style broadcast, such as a premiere with a live encoder feed Scheduled livestream in YouTube Studio, connected to XSplit XSplit supplies the encoder feed. Depending on XSplit’s Manual Transition setting, you may also need to click Go Live in YouTube Studio.
A finished video to appear on your channel later YouTube scheduled publishing The uploaded video is published at the date and time you set; this is not an XSplit encoder livestream.

The official XSplit instructions cover creating and selecting a scheduled YouTube event, but do not establish the current steps for adding or looping a local prerecorded file in Broadcaster. Do not assume the event scheduler will start file playback automatically.

Check YouTube Live eligibility first

  • Your channel should be verified and should not have had a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days, according to XSplit Support and YouTube Help.
  • First-time YouTube Live activation can take up to 24 hours after enabling it. Allow for that before planning an event; the timing is stated in XSplit’s YouTube Live guidance.
  • Confirm that you can access the channel’s live controls and that you have the computer and XSplit Broadcaster available to send the encoder feed.

Create the scheduled event in YouTube Studio

  1. Open YouTube Studio and select Go Live.
  2. Open Manage, then choose Schedule Stream.
  3. Enter the event details, configure customization and visibility, and set the date and time.
  4. Finish creating the event and leave the stream setup page available. You will select this event from XSplit.

XSplit’s scheduled-stream article documents this flow, but it was last updated November 8, 2022; YouTube’s labels may change. See XSplit’s scheduled-stream instructions and confirm the labels shown in your current YouTube Studio.

Connect XSplit Broadcaster to the event

  1. In XSplit Broadcaster, open Broadcast and choose the existing YouTube Live output.
  2. In Broadcast Details, select the event you created from the Live Event List. The event information should populate the dialog.
  3. Check the Manual Transition setting before starting. With the documented default—checked—starting XSplit sends the encoder feed but does not itself make the YouTube event live. You must select Go Live in YouTube Studio. If you uncheck Manual Transition, starting the XSplit broadcast automatically starts the YouTube stream.
  4. Choose Start Broadcast in XSplit. If Manual Transition is checked, verify the preview in YouTube Studio, then select Go Live when you are ready to begin.

The transition behavior and XSplit labels are described in its scheduled YouTube stream guide. XSplit’s broader YouTube connection guide was updated October 11, 2025: Streaming to YouTube Live.

  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Prepare and monitor the broadcast

YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Use the lead time to check the Live Control Room preview, confirm the stream is accessible, and inspect audio and video. YouTube also recommends a test livestream for new users. Its guidance notes that expensive equipment is not required: YouTube Help: live streaming tips.

  • Check the event date, time, and time zone in YouTube Studio.
  • Start the XSplit feed early enough to confirm that the preview is receiving audio and video.
  • If Manual Transition is on, account for the separate YouTube Go Live action; an encoder feed alone does not complete that transition.
  • For a documentary or other prerecorded program, verify separately how your current XSplit version handles the media source and playback. The cited event instructions do not specify those controls or prove that playback will loop.

If you meant scheduled publishing instead

  1. Upload the finished video in YouTube Studio.
  2. On the video’s scheduling card, choose Schedule.
  3. Set the publication date, time, and time zone, then select Schedule.

This publishes the uploaded video at the chosen time without treating it as an XSplit encoder livestream. See YouTube Help: schedule video publishing.

Troubleshooting

The scheduled event is missing from XSplit

Confirm that you created the event in the same YouTube channel connected to the XSplit YouTube Live output. Reopen Broadcast Details and check the Live Event List. If the event or connection still does not appear, reconnect or verify the account and channel in XSplit before the event rather than relying on a last-minute setup.

XSplit is broadcasting, but viewers cannot see a live event

If Manual Transition is checked, this is expected until you select Go Live in YouTube Studio. Check the Live Control Room preview first, then make the event live when ready. If Manual Transition is unchecked, starting the XSplit output is documented to start the YouTube stream automatically.

You cannot enable YouTube Live

Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction occurred in the past 90 days. For a first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours for approval, as stated by XSplit Support.

The event starts, but the prerecorded video does not play

Event scheduling and media playback are separate tasks. The cited XSplit event instructions do not provide the media-source setup or looping steps, so consult documentation for your exact Broadcaster version and test the file playback before the scheduled event. Do not treat a successful event connection as proof that a file is loaded or playing.
