Schedule the public YouTube event in YouTube Studio, then use OBS to send its video and audio feed through the event’s stream URL and key. Scheduling the event does not schedule OBS to start playing a local video: you must start the encoder yourself unless you separately configure and verify playback automation for your OBS version and setup.
Before you schedule: check YouTube live access
For an encoder stream, YouTube’s general setup guidance applies in India; the sources do not identify a separate India-only requirement for scheduling an event or connecting OBS. Check that your channel is verified, has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, and has live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until the day of the broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder instructions.
These are encoder-stream requirements, not a statement that every YouTube feature has identical eligibility. Mobile live streaming and monetization features may have different requirements.
Schedule the YouTube event in Studio

In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open the Manage tab in Live Control Room.

Select Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from an existing one.

Set the event’s title, description, scheduled time, visibility, and stream settings. Review the audience and other details before saving. A scheduled event gives viewers a watch page and can appear in subscribers’ upcoming feeds; viewers may opt in to a reminder. YouTube explains the event workflow in its encoder setup guide.

Use the event’s encoder details to get the stream URL and stream key. The key tells YouTube where to accept the feed and acts like a password; keep it private. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room. See Manage live stream settings.

Connect OBS and start the broadcast

Open OBS and go to Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service if it is available in your OBS setup, then enter the scheduled event’s stream URL and key using the connection method your encoder supports. Do not share or display the key. YouTube’s guidance covers the encoder handoff; OBS playback automation is a separate configuration question.

Set up the video source and audio you intend to broadcast. If the source is a prerecorded file, confirm in your OBS version and scene setup that it plays as intended. YouTube’s cited setup pages do not specify OBS media-source, playlist, or unattended playback settings, so they do not establish a universal menu path for scheduling local playback.

Start streaming from OBS ahead of the scheduled time. In Live Control Room, wait for the incoming feed and check the preview, including picture and sound.

When you are ready for viewers to see the broadcast, select Go live in Live Control Room. Starting OBS sends the encoder feed; it is distinct from starting the YouTube event.

At the end, end the event in Live Control Room and stop OBS’s feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this does not mean OBS will start a video source on a schedule.

Plan the timing and check the stream
YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours before the stream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Treat these as preparation recommendations, not guarantees. Use the lead time to check the event page, confirm the preview, and monitor audio and video throughout the broadcast. YouTube also recommends checking that any local archive file is growing. Details are in YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

- Confirm the watch page: open the scheduled event as a viewer would and make sure its visibility and details are correct.
- Check the preview: verify that the expected scene, video, and audio reach Live Control Room before selecting Go live.
- Monitor the actual broadcast: keep an eye on audio and video while live; a scheduled event page alone does not confirm that OBS is sending a usable feed.
- Verify local recording separately: if you are making an archive, check that the file is growing. A local recording is not a substitute for checking the YouTube feed.
Make sure you have the rights to the video and audio
Scheduling and sending a video through OBS do not grant permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube’s livestream terms say the provider represents that they have the rights needed for live and archived content, including music, and must comply with applicable laws. Use documentary footage, music, images, and other material you are authorized to broadcast. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
A scheduled stream is not automatically monetized. YouTube says ads serve when a channel is monetized and monetization is enabled for the live stream; individual ad features have their own availability and exclusions. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.

The event is not available to schedule or go live
Check channel verification, live-stream access, and whether the channel has a restriction from the preceding 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours. Resolve eligibility before relying on the event time.

Live Control Room does not show an incoming preview
Confirm that OBS is actively streaming and is using the URL and key for the scheduled event, not another event’s credentials. Check for typing errors and that the OBS scene has an active video source and audio. If a key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the replacement.
The preview works, but the event has not started for viewers
Receiving the encoder feed and starting the YouTube event are separate actions. Check the preview, then select Go live in Live Control Room when ready.
The event is scheduled, but the prerecorded video does not start by itself
Scheduling creates the YouTube event; it does not establish that OBS will launch or play a local video unattended. Start and verify the source yourself, or separately configure and test automation appropriate to your OBS version and computer. Do not assume event scheduling is a playback trigger.
