YouTube Studio can schedule an upcoming live event, and its auto-start setting can make that event go live when an encoder begins sending video. But Studio does not provide a setting that repeats one event every day or starts the encoder at a daily time. For a dependable daily stream, you need both recurring event creation and a separate way to start and supply the encoder feed.
What “automatic” means on YouTube Live
YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls govern how a scheduled broadcast responds to an encoder feed. YouTube says, “When these settings are on, you can start or stop streaming from your encoder.” (Manage live stream settings.) Auto-start is triggered by the encoder sending content; it is not documented as a daily timer.
That leaves two separate jobs: create or manage an event for each day, and make an encoder connect and send video at the right time. Scheduling an event alone does not turn on a computer, launch streaming software, play a file, or restart a feed after a failure.
Set up and test a scheduled YouTube Live event
1. Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until just before the intended broadcast. See Get started with live streaming and Create a live stream with an encoder.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Schedule the event in Studio
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live.
- Choose Manage, then schedule a stream.
- Enter the event details and planned start time, and review the visibility and other settings before saving.
- If you reuse settings from another stream, check the copied metadata, stream key, auto-start, and auto-stop choices rather than assuming they are correct for this event.
YouTube’s Studio instructions describe scheduling and reusing stream settings in Create a live stream with an encoder. A scheduled event can appear as upcoming, giving viewers a chance to find it and opt into a start notification (Manage live stream settings).
3. Connect an encoder with the stream key
Provide the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and the stream key for the event. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets the encoder connect and YouTube accept its feed. Treat it like a password: do not put it in public notes, screenshots, or source code, and replace it if it is exposed. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance is at Create a live stream with an encoder.

4. Choose auto-start and auto-stop deliberately
Turn on auto-start if you want YouTube to begin the scheduled broadcast when the encoder starts sending video. Auto-stop can end the broadcast after the encoder stops, subject to YouTube’s behavior and the event settings. These controls do not schedule the encoder itself, so a computer or cloud process still has to start the encoder and provide the feed.
5. Rehearse the actual workflow
- Set up the event and encoder in advance, then confirm the scheduled event is accessible as intended.
- Check the preview and stream health before the public start. Test with comparable audio and movement to what the actual stream will contain.
- Verify that the correct stream key and encoder feed are attached to the right event.
- After the test or broadcast, stop the encoder and confirm the event has ended as expected.
YouTube’s live-stream guidance recommends advance setup, preview and stream-health checks, and testing; consult Stream live with an encoder and Troubleshoot your live stream. A rehearsal can reveal configuration problems, but it cannot guarantee that an unattended daily run will never fail.

How to make the schedule repeat every day
YouTube Studio’s scheduled-event workflow is for creating an event; its documented settings do not turn one event into a daily recurring event. Choose between creating a set of separate events and building an API-based process. In either case, separately arrange for an encoder to start and send video for each occurrence.
Option 1: Create events manually
Schedule an individual event for each date in Studio. This is the more straightforward approach when you have a limited run or want to review each event yourself. It requires repeating the event-creation and settings checks, including confirming that the correct stream key and auto-start/auto-stop choices were carried over. Each scheduled event can provide its own upcoming page and notification option for viewers.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Option 2: Manage recurring events with the YouTube API
YouTube’s API documentation describes a recurring-event pattern built from multiple broadcast resources bound to a stream. An application or operator creates and manages the broadcasts, then ensures the relevant broadcast is transitioned when its event occurs. This is an API implementation—not a no-code daily recurrence switch in Studio—and it requires authorized API access plus a functioning encoder workflow. See YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
API automation can reduce repeated event setup, but it adds maintenance: authorization, event creation and updates, stream-key handling, and monitoring still need to be managed. The API’s event management does not itself provide the video feed or prove that a third-party scheduler will work reliably.

| Approach | Event setup and updates | Upcoming page and reminders | Encoder start | Ongoing work |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Separate events in Studio | Create and review each event manually. | Each scheduled event can appear as upcoming and let viewers opt into a notification. | Must be arranged separately; auto-start reacts to a feed. | Repeat event setup, verify settings, and check the encoder run. |
| API-managed broadcasts | Create multiple broadcast resources and bind them to a stream through an authorized API workflow. | Each broadcast is a separate event; manage its details as needed. | Must still be arranged separately; the API event pattern does not supply video. | Maintain API authorization, event updates, stream-key security, and monitoring. |
Keep a daily stream reliable and compliant
Plan for feed failures
Monitor stream health during early runs and have a person or process able to respond if the encoder stops sending. The official scheduling and encoder guidance does not establish an automatic recovery guarantee for a daily workflow. A scheduled start time is not a substitute for checking that the feed arrived and the event is live.
Use content you have the right to stream
Before repeating a documentary, soundtrack, or other recording, confirm that you have permission to use all video and audio in the stream. Scheduling and automation do not grant content rights or prevent copyright claims. Review YouTube’s current copyright guidance and ensure the channel remains eligible for live streaming.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is a YouTube channel that continuously plays uploaded recordings, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; automatic recovery is available if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
StreamNeo is for uploaded video playback to YouTube, not camera-based live production or a substitute for creating separate scheduled event pages in Studio. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
