To schedule a playlist of nature videos for YouTube Live, schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio and separately prepare a playback source that sends the videos through an encoder at airtime. Scheduling creates the event and its watch page; it does not make a YouTube playlist play inside the live stream. For a computer-based setup, use a playback tool and an encoder such as OBS. For unattended cloud playback, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos to YouTube without a computer running at home.
What scheduling a YouTube Live playlist actually involves
YouTube treats the event viewers watch and the incoming video feed as separate things. In Google’s Live Streaming API documentation, a broadcast is an event that can be watched on YouTube, while a stream is the audio-video feed sent to it. A broadcast is bound to one stream, and a stream can be reused for broadcasts at different times. Google’s Live Streaming API documentation explains this distinction.
That means you need both a scheduled broadcast and a playback-and-encoder setup. A YouTube playlist by itself is not a source that feeds its videos into the live event. YouTube says scheduling lets you promote the stream, share its URL, and let viewers request reminders. YouTube Help: Schedule a live stream.
Choose how to play and send the videos

Prepare the nature-video playlist
- Choose the files and order. Decide which recordings play first and what should happen at the end. If the session should continue, use a playback method that can loop or advance through the files as intended.
- Check that playback reaches the encoder. Configure the playback tool as a source in the encoder, then verify that video and audio appear in the encoder preview. A YouTube playlist is not a substitute for this connection.
- Review rights and content suitability. Confirm that you have the rights needed for every recording, music track, and other included material. YouTube’s copyright rules apply to live streams as well as other uploads; review YouTube copyright guidance before broadcasting. Avoid promising that nature footage is automatically safe to reuse simply because it shows outdoor scenery.
Schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Open Manage, then choose Schedule stream.
- Enter the event details and set its privacy. Use an informative title and description so viewers understand what the nature-video stream contains.
- Save the event, then share its watch-page URL if you want viewers to find it in advance or request a reminder.
- In the encoder, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key for the scheduled stream. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel.

Start, monitor, and end the stream
- At the planned time, start playback and start sending its output from the encoder.
- Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. Follow the event’s current Go live or auto-start behavior; do not assume scheduling alone starts the incoming feed.
- Monitor the video and audio while the stream is running. If the preview is absent, check playback, encoder input, network connection, and the selected stream key before troubleshooting elsewhere.
- When the program is finished, end the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop the encoder feed according to your setup.
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not treat that as a guarantee for longer broadcasts. YouTube Help: live stream archives.
Common problems and fixes
- The scheduled watch page exists, but no video appears: the event is scheduled, but the encoder is not sending a feed. Start playback and the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview.
- The wrong clip plays or the sequence stops: inspect the playback source’s order and loop/advance behavior. Test the entire intended sequence before scheduling viewers to arrive.
- The encoder cannot connect: verify the stream URL and key against the scheduled event and confirm the computer or hardware has an internet connection.
- The event starts at the wrong time or waits for a manual action: check the scheduled time and current auto-start/Go live controls in Live Control Room. Older OBS guidance may not match current interface labels.
- A long stream is missing an archive: YouTube’s stated automatic archive coverage is for streams under 12 hours; longer streams are outside that stated condition.
