YouTube Studio can schedule the live event, but it does not schedule a playlist handoff within that event. To switch from your regular bhajan rotation to a morning-aarti playlist, use a separate playback or playout system that feeds an encoder, and set the change for the temple’s actual aarti time in India Standard Time (IST). Test the handoff and confirm the resulting feed in YouTube Live Control Room before relying on it.
What needs to be scheduled—and where
There are two separate jobs: YouTube Studio schedules the live event and its watch page; a playback or playout system supplies the video and audio that viewers see. The playlist change belongs in that second system, which must be able to switch playlists on a schedule and feed the encoder. YouTube’s documented event-scheduling workflow does not describe an automatic playlist switch inside a live event.
- Schedule the event: create the upcoming live event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Schedule the handoff: configure the playback or playout system to switch from the regular bhajan rotation to the morning-aarti playlist at the intended local time.
- Keep the feed running: connect the playback workflow to a software or standalone hardware encoder, then send that feed to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key.
A normal YouTube playlist is not itself a continuous livestream, and scheduling an uploaded video to publish later is a different feature from scheduling an encoder-fed live event.
Set the aarti time for your location
There is no single morning-aarti time that applies across India. Choose the time used by the specific temple or programme you are representing, then enter it in the playout system as India Standard Time. Check how that system handles time zones and recurring schedules; do not assume it uses IST just because the channel or audience is in India.

If the schedule repeats, verify the configured time and date after saving it. Rehearse the transition before the first public broadcast: confirm that the outgoing bhajans stop at the intended point, the aarti playlist starts, and both remain part of the same continuous encoder feed.
Set up the YouTube live event and encoder
- Check eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Resolve any eligibility issue before planning the broadcast.
- Schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, choose Manage, then Schedule stream. Scheduling creates an upcoming event that you can promote and share through its watch-page URL; it does not create the video feed or arrange the playlist handoff.
- Prepare the playback and encoder chain. Choose a software encoder or standalone hardware encoder that works with your playout workflow and can remain running for the intended schedule. In the encoder, enter the stream URL and stream key shown for the YouTube event. Keep the key private.
- Start early and check the preview. YouTube’s encoder tips recommend setting up at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. Wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check that the expected feed is present, and monitor stream quality.
- Go live and verify the change. In the scheduled-event workflow, after the encoder preview appears, click Go live in Live Control Room. Confirm the stream is live, then verify the aarti handoff in the feed at the scheduled time.
These lead times are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee against a network, encoder, or service failure.

Choose a way to keep the feed running
YouTube recognizes both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; it does not rank one as best for this use. Whichever you choose, the playback or playout layer still needs to manage the bhajan-to-aarti change.

A dedicated hardware encoder is not required: YouTube also supports software encoders. In either setup, verify that playlist automation is provided by the playback or playout layer rather than assuming the encoder or YouTube Studio will switch playlists for you.

Prepare the bhajan and aarti recordings responsibly
Before putting recordings into a continuous public stream, check that you have permission to use the specific performances and recordings. A devotional song’s traditional or religious subject does not by itself establish that a particular recording is free to use. Confirm the rights that apply to both the composition and the recording, and keep permission or licence records. Do not assume that a recording is safe simply because it is widely shared online.
Also plan for continuity beyond YouTube’s stated automatic-archive scope. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not establish what happens to a stream that runs longer. For a 24/7 channel, arrange a separate recording or archive capability if you need a complete copy, and verify YouTube’s behaviour for your stream rather than assuming the entire run will be saved.

Common problems and what to check
- The scheduled event is visible, but there is no video feed: scheduling creates the event, not its encoder feed. Check that the encoder is running and that it has the correct stream URL and key for that event.
- The stream is not eligible to go live: check channel verification and whether live-streaming restrictions apply within the previous 90 days.
- The aarti playlist does not start on time: check that the handoff is configured in the playback or playout system, that the scheduled time is in IST, and that the schedule’s recurrence and date are correct. Review the feed in Live Control Room.
- The preview is missing or shows the wrong content: check the playback source, encoder connection and event’s stream details before going live. Start early enough to resolve problems and confirm the preview.
- The stream stops during a long run: check the encoder, the machine or hardware running it, the connection, and the monitoring or recovery process. The scheduled event alone does not keep a feed running.
- The archive does not cover the whole 24/7 run: do not infer full-run archiving from YouTube’s statement about streams under 12 hours. Use separate recording or archiving if a complete copy is required.

Plan the run, storage and rights
Estimate how much content you need for the regular rotation and the aarti segment, then check available storage and upload time before starting. StreamNeo provides a free upload-time calculator. Before the event, confirm that the stream key belongs to the intended YouTube event, the correct playlist is queued for each part of the schedule, the switch time is set to IST, and the recordings are cleared for use. A short rehearsal can catch a wrong key, time-zone mismatch, or playlist-order mistake before viewers encounter it.
