You can run XSplit Broadcaster on a VPS only if the Windows VM gives it a compatible graphics adapter and drivers, plus enough sustained upload capacity for your YouTube stream. A low headline price does not establish any of those things. No specific low-cost Indian VPS plan, price, or XSplit performance has been verified here, so use the checks and test below before committing to a host.
Can you run XSplit Broadcaster on a VPS?
Yes, in principle, on a Windows VPS that meets XSplit’s requirements and exposes graphics hardware or a supported software encoder to the application. XSplit says it is compatible only with Microsoft Windows and specifies Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, at least a 2nd Generation Core i5 or equivalent, 8 GB RAM, and a GeForce- or Radeon-class graphics card with DirectX 10.1 or better. Its listed minimums also include 250 MB of storage and 500 kbps upload for its lowest live-stream settings; those minimums do not guarantee a satisfactory HD YouTube stream. See XSplit’s system requirements.
A VPS listing that says “Windows” or advertises a large vCPU count is not proof that XSplit can use a compatible GPU. Microsoft’s guidance for GPU acceleration in cloud virtual desktops describes supported VM families and configuration steps; it does not certify an arbitrary Indian VPS or establish XSplit compatibility. Treat it as an example of the configuration involved, not as a low-cost-host recommendation: Microsoft’s GPU acceleration guidance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Windows: Which Windows version does the guest run, and does it meet XSplit’s Windows 10/11 64-bit requirement? Confirm whether the license permits your intended use and whether licensing is included or charged separately.
- Graphics and drivers: What graphics adapter or virtual GPU profile does the guest see? Which drivers are installed, and can XSplit access a supported hardware encoder? A GPU label in a plan description is not enough; verify what appears inside the Windows VM.
- CPU and memory: Does the actual VM shape meet XSplit’s stated minimum of a 2nd Generation Core i5 or equivalent and 8 GB RAM? Ask about sustained performance, not only a processor count.
- Outbound network: What upload capacity can the VM sustain during a long stream, and what are the network-egress limits and charges? Ask whether traffic is shaped or capped.
- Location and operations: Where is the VM hosted, how does its route reach YouTube’s ingest, and what happens after a VM restart or host maintenance? Latency alone does not prove stable streaming.
- Total cost: Add compute, Windows licensing, any GPU premium, storage, and egress for the hours you expect to stream. Obtain current India-specific terms from the provider; no provider prices or plan compatibility are established here.
XSplit offers software x264 encoding and hardware options including Intel Quick Sync, NVIDIA NVENC, and AMD VCE. Which options appear depends on the machine and platform support. After installation, check the encoder choices in XSplit rather than assuming a VPS supports the option advertised by its host. See XSplit’s output settings.
Set up XSplit and verify the YouTube stream
- Prepare the Windows VM. Confirm that Windows, the graphics adapter, and its drivers are visible in the guest. Install XSplit Broadcaster and check that it opens without a graphics or encoder error.
- Create a scene. Add the sources your programme needs, such as a screen capture, media source, or camera. XSplit’s basic workflow is to create a scene, set up a streaming output, then start streaming or recording; follow its Getting Started with XSplit Broadcaster guide for the application workflow.
- Prepare the YouTube destination. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and use its stream key and server details in XSplit’s YouTube output configuration. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it or include it in screenshots, and reset it if exposed.
- Choose a conservative first output. For a modest initial test, YouTube’s H.264 recommendation is 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. Use RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds. Select the matching resolution and frame rate in XSplit. YouTube’s recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate; its listed H.264 rates include 8 Mbps for 720p60, 10 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. See YouTube’s encoder settings.
- Check the encoder and output. In XSplit’s output properties, select an encoder available on that VM. Use a hardware option only if it is actually exposed and functioning; otherwise, software encoding may be available, but performance depends on the VM’s CPU and workload.
- Run a representative test. Test with the kind of motion and audio your real programme contains. Watch YouTube’s stream-health messages and check for dropped frames, buffering, audio problems, or unstable outbound throughput. A short speed test does not establish that a VPS can sustain a long broadcast.
- Go live only after the test holds. Confirm that YouTube receives the correct picture and sound, that stream health remains acceptable, and that the VM can maintain the chosen output. If not, reduce resolution or bitrate and test again before relying on the setup.
Common problems and fixes
- XSplit will not install or run: Check that the VM is 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 and meets the application’s stated minimums. A Linux VPS will not run XSplit Broadcaster natively.
- No hardware encoder appears: The guest may lack a supported GPU, driver, or platform configuration. Ask the provider what adapter and drivers the guest exposes, then recheck XSplit’s output options. Do not assume that a host-side GPU is available to the Windows guest.
- Encoding overload or choppy output: The VM may not sustain the selected resolution, frame rate, and encoder workload. Test at a lower output setting, then check CPU use and whether the chosen encoder is genuinely supported.
- YouTube reports unstable stream health or dropped frames: The VPS may not sustain the selected bitrate, or its network path may fluctuate. Lower the bitrate or resolution, check the provider’s egress and traffic limits, and retest over a longer representative period.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Recheck the destination, RTMPS configuration, and stream key in YouTube Studio and XSplit. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update XSplit.
- The test works but a long stream fails: A brief test cannot establish long-run capacity. Ask the provider about restarts, maintenance, traffic shaping, and sustained outbound limits; monitor the next test rather than assuming the VM will recover unattended.
Copyright and YouTube channel rules still apply
Running XSplit on a VPS changes where the encoding happens; it does not change the rights you need for video, music, or other material in the broadcast. Use content you own or have permission to stream, and review YouTube’s current policies for copyright and monetization before broadcasting. A technically stable stream is not a guarantee of monetization eligibility, and repeatedly broadcasting material you do not have rights to can lead to claims or other channel consequences.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube stream, rather than run a live XSplit production, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the service loops uploaded videos without a computer or home connection staying on. It is YouTube-only and does not go live from a camera.
