Yes. One self-hosted datarhei Restreamer instance can send the same source to two YouTube channels by using two separate publication services—one for each channel. Give each service that channel’s own YouTube RTMP server URL and unique stream key, then verify both events independently in YouTube Live. This is the documented configuration pattern; the official guides do not specify a minimum server size for two simultaneous outputs.
What you are setting up
Restreamer receives or plays a source and publishes it to external destinations. Its current publication-services manual allows multiple services, so configure one YouTube destination per channel rather than trying to reuse one service or one channel’s credentials. The result is one Restreamer source feeding two distinct YouTube channel destinations.
This is a configuration path supported by the product documentation, not a claim that a particular host has been tested or will handle every source. Server capacity and outbound bandwidth depend on your source, output settings, host, and network.
Before you configure Restreamer
Enable live streaming on both channels
YouTube requires each channel to be verified and live streaming enabled. First-time enablement can take at least 24 hours after you request it, so do this well before the planned broadcast. Check each channel separately; eligibility on one does not enable the other. See YouTube’s guidance for streaming across platforms.

Create or identify an event for each channel
In YouTube Live, prepare the live event on each channel and retrieve its RTMP server URL and unique stream key (also called a streaming ID in the Restreamer guide). Keep the two channel details distinct. Treat stream keys like passwords: anyone who obtains one may be able to send video to that channel’s live event. Do not paste Channel A’s key into Channel B’s publication service.
Check the Restreamer host and deployment
Restreamer is self-hosted. Its Quick Start documents a Docker deployment, recommends a secure, unique password, and notes that public port forwarding is needed for full functionality. Follow the setup instructions for your Restreamer version and secure the deployment; do not expose its management interface casually. The documentation does not establish a universal CPU, memory, or network specification for two YouTube outputs.

Configure two YouTube publication services
- Open Restreamer’s publication-services area. Create a publication service for the first YouTube destination. The current Publication services manual describes services as connections to external destinations using a streaming key and allows any number of services.
- Enter Channel A’s destination details. Select the YouTube publication option if available in your version, or use the documented RTMP destination method. Enter Channel A’s RTMP server URL and its matching unique stream key. The Restreamer YouTube guide describes entering a valid YouTube streaming ID with the destination.
- Create a second, separate service. Repeat the process for Channel B, entering Channel B’s own RTMP URL and stream key. Do not duplicate Channel A’s credential. The documentation supports multiple publication services but does not show a dedicated side-by-side two-channel walkthrough, so labels and exact UI wording may vary by Restreamer version.
- Choose the source and start both services. Attach the same source to both publication services if your goal is to send identical programming to both channels. Start each service. Restreamer’s YouTube instructions say the stream should appear in YouTube Live after a few seconds.
- Confirm both destinations independently. Open each channel’s event in YouTube Live and confirm that it receives a preview and reports a healthy incoming stream before you announce the broadcast or rely on it. A preview on one event does not verify the other.
Plan bandwidth and monitor both outputs
Two destinations mean two outgoing stream feeds from the Restreamer host. Estimate the combined target bitrate, then leave upload headroom. YouTube’s guidance uses an example of 6 Mbps plus 4 Mbps, totaling 10 Mbps, and recommends upload capacity of 1.5–2 times that total: 15–20 Mbps in that example. This is an illustration, not a universal bitrate setting or a guarantee for your host. YouTube says, “For high-quality simulstreaming, sufficient Internet upload speed is critical for the live streams to work properly.”
- Measure the host’s upload capacity under realistic conditions rather than relying only on a plan’s advertised maximum.
- Monitor YouTube’s Stream health indicators for each channel while live.
- Check the Restreamer host’s CPU, memory, and outbound network use. YouTube’s bandwidth arithmetic does not establish that a particular server can process or publish both outputs.
- If either stream has problems, isolate whether the issue is the source, that publication service’s credentials, the host, or the relevant channel’s YouTube event before changing both configurations at once.
Understand publication protocols and latency
Restreamer’s manual lists HLS, RTMP, and SRT source choices for publication services, with documented handoff latencies shown below. These figures describe the documented protocol handoff in Restreamer, not end-to-end latency experienced by YouTube viewers.

| Protocol | Latency stated in Restreamer’s manual |
|---|---|
| HLS | At least 10–30 seconds |
| RTMP | 1–2 seconds |
| SRT | Under 1 second |
Use the method supported by the source and destination configuration you are using. The relevant Restreamer documentation does not promise a YouTube viewer latency based on these handoff figures.
End the broadcast without losing the YouTube archive
If preserving YouTube’s DVR archive matters, end the stream from YouTube first after the event, then stop or interrupt Restreamer. Restreamer’s YouTube guide warns that interrupting Restreamer mid-stream may prevent YouTube from saving the stream to its DVR archive. Apply this to each channel’s event and confirm the events have ended as intended.

Troubleshoot the common failure points
One channel receives video and the other does not
- Check that both publication services are started and point to the intended event.
- Recheck the failing channel’s RTMP URL and unique stream key. Do not assume the working channel’s credentials can be reused.
- Open the failing event in YouTube Live and check its preview and Stream health independently.
Neither channel receives a preview
- Confirm the Restreamer source is running and producing output.
- Check that both channels have live streaming enabled and that the correct events are open.
- Allow a few seconds after starting the services for the preview to appear, as the Restreamer guide recommends.
The streams are unstable or YouTube reports poor health
- Compare available upload capacity with the combined output bitrate and keep the recommended headroom; YouTube’s example uses 1.5–2 times combined target bitrate.
- Check whether another process is consuming the host’s bandwidth, and inspect host resource use while both services are active.
- Test under realistic operating conditions and reduce output demands if the host or connection cannot sustain them.
YouTube does not save the replay as expected
For future events, end the stream through YouTube before interrupting Restreamer. Stopping the publishing source first can interfere with YouTube’s DVR archive according to the Restreamer YouTube guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel playing uploaded recordings, StreamNeo is a separate option rather than a second Restreamer publication destination. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not camera-based live capture.
