One OBS PC can send two simultaneous broadcasts to YouTube using the Multiple RTMP Outputs plugin: create a separate YouTube live event and destination for each stream, then configure each as an output in OBS. The main constraint is that the PC and its internet connection must handle the combined encoding and upload workload. YouTube says simultaneous streams are supported up to a limit, but its guidance does not give a numeric channel limit.
What you need before setting up two streams
- An eligible YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- OBS Studio and the Multiple RTMP Outputs plugin. The OBS resource listing specifies 64-bit Windows and Linux and a minimum OBS Studio version of 30.2.0; its update metadata is dated 2020-05-17, so verify current compatibility and release notes before relying on it for a continuous broadcast: OBS forum resource page.
- Two prepared YouTube live events, each with its own server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Sufficient upload bandwidth and encoding capacity for both outputs, with headroom for network variation.
YouTube’s guidance confirms that software or hardware encoders can support multiple simultaneous streams. It also says simultaneous streams are available “up to a limit,” but does not state the numeric limit; do not assume a particular maximum for your channel. Configure two YouTube destinations in OBS
1. Enable live streaming and create both events
In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a live event for each broadcast. For each event, note its stream URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions to enter the destination details in your streaming software. Keep both keys private: anyone with a key may be able to broadcast to its associated event. If a key is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room; YouTube explains stream-key management in its stream-key guidance.
2. Install the Multiple RTMP Outputs plugin
Use the plugin’s OBS resource listing to check the current download, supported platforms, OBS version requirements, and release notes. The listing documents concurrent RTMP outputs and specifies 64-bit Windows and Linux with OBS Studio 30.2.0 or later. Because its update metadata is old, compatibility with every current OBS release or system should not be assumed. Install the version appropriate for your setup, restart OBS if required, and verify that the plugin’s output controls appear.

3. Add one output for each event
In the plugin’s output controls, add two destinations. For each one, enter the matching event’s server URL and stream key. Label them clearly, such as “Channel A” and “Channel B,” so you can tell which output belongs to which event. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which is RTMP carried over TLS/SSL; use an RTMPS URL when YouTube provides one. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
4. Choose shared or standalone encoding
The plugin can share OBS’s main output encoder or use standalone encoders for additional outputs. Sharing can reduce CPU demand, while standalone encoders let you set output parameters independently and require more encoding capacity. There is no universal setting for every PC: monitor CPU/GPU load and OBS rendering or encoding warnings during testing. The plugin describes these modes on its resource page; no benchmark for a particular computer is established.

5. Set bitrate and confirm upload headroom
Choose a bitrate that both the computer and connection can sustain. YouTube recommends upload capacity for “primary + backup + 20%.” For two independent outputs, calculate the combined outgoing bitrate rather than considering each stream in isolation, then leave additional room for ordinary network variation. A shared encoder may send the same encoded output to both destinations, but actual network use depends on the output configuration; check OBS’s statistics and your network conditions rather than assuming the plugin halves the upload requirement. YouTube’s advice is in its live encoder settings and stream health guidance.
6. Test both events before leaving them unattended
- Start both plugin outputs and verify that each event receives a preview in the Live Control Room.
- Open each event’s intended watch page and confirm that the correct content is reaching the correct audience destination.
- Test with moving video and audio, not just a static screen, and inspect the Live Control Room’s stream-health indicators.
- Monitor both outputs, OBS load, and connection stability for a sustained preflight period that reflects your intended use before leaving the PC unattended.

Trade-offs: one OBS PC, cloud relay, or another approach

Troubleshooting two simultaneous outputs
One event shows no preview
- Check that the output uses that event’s own server URL and stream key; swapping keys or reusing the wrong event details sends the output to the wrong destination or prevents it from connecting.
- Confirm the event is ready to receive an encoder stream and that live streaming is enabled on the channel.
- If the key may have been exposed or changed, retrieve the current details from Live Control Room and update the plugin.
Both outputs connect, but video stutters or stream health degrades
- Check combined upload demand against available upload bandwidth and reduce output bitrate or quality if the connection cannot sustain it.
- Leave headroom beyond the calculated stream demand; YouTube’s published recommendation includes 20% above primary and backup bitrate.
- Inspect OBS load. If encoding or rendering is overloaded, try sharing the main encoder where appropriate, lower the workload, or use hardware the PC can sustain.
- Test again with motion and audio, then confirm health in both events’ Live Control Room previews.
The plugin is missing or incompatible
Recheck the plugin listing’s supported platforms, minimum OBS version, current release notes, and installation steps. The resource metadata’s last-update date is 2020-05-17, so the listing alone does not guarantee compatibility with a later OBS build. Avoid treating a successful short test as proof of long-term stability.
You need a specific maximum number of simultaneous streams
YouTube’s published guidance says there is a limit but does not provide its number. Check the current channel’s Live Control Room and YouTube support information rather than relying on an unverified cap.

Copyright and channel-policy checks for continuous programming
Using multiple outputs does not change YouTube’s content rules. Before leaving a continuous broadcast running, make sure you have the necessary rights for every video, recording, image, and music track. A live stream can be interrupted or restricted if YouTube detects content that violates its policies or rights requirements. Also consider whether the channel’s overall programming complies with YouTube monetization rules: permission to use content does not by itself establish eligibility for monetization, and repetitive or reused programming can raise separate policy questions. Review the current rules in YouTube’s monetization policies and copyright guidance.
