Yes—a JioFiber connection can carry a YouTube radio-style livestream if its upload connection is stable enough, your channel is eligible for live streaming, and an encoder sends your audio with a video feed to YouTube. Check your actual upload performance rather than relying on the plan name, test the stream before announcing it, and clear the music rights first. A 24/7 station also needs a computer or other encoder setup that stays connected unless you use a cloud service.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. YouTube’s current help guidance says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s guide to enabling live streaming.
- A computer running streaming software or another encoder, connected to the internet during the broadcast.
- Your radio program audio and a video feed. A station image or simple visualizer can work for an audio-led program; YouTube’s cited encoder guidance does not require a particular visual design.
- Permission to livestream every track and other third-party content you use, including any permissions needed for territories and an archive, if you retain one.
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS ingest, video codecs including H.264, H.265, and AV1, and AAC or MP3 audio. For a conventional OBS setup, H.264 video with AAC audio is a practical starting point.
Check whether your JioFiber upload can support the stream
Look up the upload speed for your current local JioFiber plan, then test the connection from the place where the streaming computer will run. Repeat the test at the time you expect to broadcast, including during ordinary household internet use. YouTube recommends testing your upload bitrate; the plan’s advertised rate alone does not establish the sustained capacity available to your encoder.
Jio’s plan comparison page has surfaced examples of 30 Mbps, 100 Mbps, and 150 Mbps with matching advertised upload and download rates. These are examples, not a guarantee that those plans or speeds are available in every area or remain unchanged. Confirm current local terms on Jio’s plan comparison page. Leave capacity above the video and audio bitrate you configure: other devices may use the connection, and performance can vary. Ethernet from a compatible router to the streaming computer is an optional way to reduce local Wi-Fi variability. It does not increase your subscribed internet rate or guarantee an uninterrupted ISP connection.
Prepare the radio program feed
- Choose the content. Organize the audio you are permitted to broadcast. If you have a live presenter, test the microphone separately from the music or other program audio.
- Add a video source. Use station artwork with useful details such as the show name, or a lightweight audio visualizer. A fixed image is usually adequate for an audio-led station; more visual detail is not automatically more valuable to listeners.
- Check the mix. Listen to the encoder’s output or a private test stream. Confirm that audio is present, speech and music are intelligible, and levels do not clip. Keep levels consistent between tracks and presenter segments.
- Test representative content. Include the kind of audio and visual movement that will appear in the real broadcast. A test with only a silent still image will not reveal music, microphone, or motion-related problems.
Create the YouTube stream and protect its key
- Open YouTube Studio and use the Live Control Room to create or schedule a stream. Follow YouTube’s live-stream activation guidance if the channel has not streamed before.
- In the stream’s settings, retrieve the server details and stream key shown by YouTube. Choose encoder streaming, as opposed to starting a broadcast directly from a webcam or mobile device.
- In your encoder, enter the server and stream key from Live Control Room. Use RTMPS when offered; YouTube recommends it, and its developer documentation specifies YouTube’s RTMPS ingestion address and port 443. Most creators should use the details YouTube supplies rather than manually constructing an API request. See YouTube’s RTMPS ingestion documentation.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it or include it in a screenshot. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Set OBS or another encoder for an audio-first stream
For a mostly static station visual, 720p at 30 fps is a reasonable starting point if you want a video feed. YouTube’s current H.264 guidance recommends a video bitrate of 3 Mbps for 720p30 and 5 Mbps for 1080p30. A lower resolution is also an option when bandwidth is constrained. These are recommended ingestion settings, not a promise of the playback quality each viewer will receive.

For OBS, create a scene containing your artwork or visualizer and audio sources, then enter YouTube’s server and stream key under the stream settings. Put the video and audio values above into the relevant output settings and match the keyframe interval in the encoder’s video settings. Labels can differ by OBS version; use the settings that correspond to rate control, bitrate, keyframe interval, codec, and audio sample rate. If the chosen output is unstable, reduce video bitrate or resolution before compromising the audio mix.
Test, go live, and monitor stream health
- Start the encoder and wait for YouTube Live Control Room to report that it is receiving the stream.
- Check the preview for the right visual and listen for both program audio and microphone audio, if used. Watch for clipping, missing sources, unintended silence, or an incorrect scene.
- Keep the test running long enough to include representative audio and any visual changes. YouTube recommends testing with the actual setup and monitoring stream-health messages.
- Once ingestion and output look right, start or schedule the broadcast in Live Control Room. Confirm that the YouTube player is live before sharing the link or promoting the schedule.
- While live, monitor the encoder and YouTube’s stream-health status. If the connection falters, lower the video bitrate or resolution, pause other uploads, and test the adjusted settings before relying on them for a long broadcast.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
Do not assume that buying a track, seeing it labeled “free,” or having permission to use it in an ordinary on-demand video also grants permission for a continuous radio livestream. YouTube’s livestream terms make the broadcaster responsible for having the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including applicable music and public-performance rights.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace the stream image, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it. If you have licensed third-party material, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
YouTube Creator Music is not a workaround for radio livestreams: its usage details say tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams. The described availability is for U.S. creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion outside the U.S. pending. Ask each music provider to confirm in writing that its license covers live transmission, your territories, any retained archive, and Content ID allowlisting.
