To run a viewer poll in Streamlabs Desktop, enable Cloudbot, create and save a poll profile with a title and at least two voting options, then select Start Poll when you want voting to begin. Viewers vote in chat with !vote <option>. Add the optional Poll source if you also want poll results on screen.
Set up and launch a Cloudbot poll
- Enable Cloudbot. Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and enable Cloudbot for your channel. Streamlabs recommends linking your channel first when setting up Cloudbot. See the Cloudbot setup guide.
- Create a poll profile. In Cloudbot’s poll area, choose Add Poll Profile.
- Enter the question and choices. Add a poll title and at least two options. Set a name and a voting command for each option so viewers know what to enter.
- Choose optional settings. Set a timer or duration if the poll should close automatically. Enable vote notifications if you want viewers to receive confirmation that their votes were recorded.
- Save the profile. Profiles can be reused, so you can keep recurring questions without rebuilding them each time.
- Start the poll when ready. Select Start Poll from the profile list. Cloudbot announces the poll in chat and tells viewers how to vote.
Tell viewers to enter !vote <option> in chat, replacing <option> with the command assigned to their choice. The full workflow is documented in Streamlabs’ poll guide.
Show poll results on the stream
A poll can run in chat without an on-screen graphic. To show results in your Streamlabs Desktop scene, enable Cloudbot, add a new source, and choose Poll. Then start the poll from the Streamlabs Dashboard; the source displays poll results and can be customized. Streamlabs identifies the Poll Widget as supporting Twitch and YouTube chat.
These are separate parts of the workflow: the profile and Dashboard control the Cloudbot poll, while the Poll source provides the on-screen display. Streamlabs’ Poll Widget page also describes using a browser source or the Streamlabs OBS plugin for OBS users.

Use the YouTube chat-panel workflow if you prefer
Streamlabs also documents starting a poll from the Desktop YouTube chat panel using its plus button and Poll control. This is distinct from creating a Cloudbot poll profile and launching it through the Dashboard; follow the interface path that matches how you want to run the poll. The relevant YouTube poll tutorial was published September 5, 2024 and updated October 22, 2024, so labels may have changed since then.
Troubleshoot common poll problems
- Poll controls or profiles are missing: Confirm Cloudbot is enabled for the channel and that the channel is linked as part of setup.
- Viewers cannot vote: Check that the poll has at least two choices and that each choice has a voting command. Tell viewers to use the documented
!vote <option>format with the option’s assigned command. - The poll is not active: Saving a profile does not start the poll. Select Start Poll when it is time to collect votes.
- Results are not visible on the stream: The chat poll does not itself add an on-screen display. Add the Poll source to the Desktop scene and start the poll from the Dashboard.
