To run a nonstop YouTube Live loop, send a prerecorded study video or other video source to YouTube through an encoder, using the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Test the feed before relying on it, keep a local recording if you need an archive, and plan for interruptions: YouTube’s guidance warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive, but does not say that the live broadcast must stop at 12 hours.
Choose what “nonstop” means for your channel
A study-with-me channel can mean different things by a nonstop loop. Decide which outcome you want before configuring the stream:
- A recurring live session: You schedule separate study sessions. Each one has its own start and end, and may have its own replay.
- One continuously connected feed: An encoder keeps sending video to YouTube. This is the closest match to a 24/7 loop, but the official YouTube material cited here does not establish a maximum duration for one broadcast or how to restart while keeping the same watch page.
- A prerecorded video loop: The encoder uses a video file as its source and repeats it. YouTube’s documentation explains how to connect an encoder, but does not specify a particular looping application or automation recipe. A playlist or uploaded video alone does not become a live stream.
YouTube lists encoder and webcam streaming as available methods. An encoder suits a flexible video source, such as a prerecorded loop or a scene with overlays; a webcam suits a creator who wants viewers to see them studying. You do not need a camera for a prerecorded loop.
Check channel access and prepare YouTube Studio
- Verify eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its current Help guidance also states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; these are YouTube platform limits, not encoder settings.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, create or select a stream and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the connection details in your encoder. The URL identifies YouTube’s ingest destination; the key authorizes the encoder to send to the selected stream. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings and update the encoder.
- Review repeat-stream settings if useful. YouTube lets you reuse stream settings, including metadata and a stream key, and create custom stream keys. Auto-start and auto-stop are available settings too. They can simplify repeated sessions, but YouTube’s documentation does not describe them as crash recovery or a way to restart without interruption.
- Check the incoming preview. Start sending from the encoder and confirm that Live Control Room receives the intended picture and sound before you make the broadcast public.
Build and test the study loop
Make the video work as a long session
Use a source you have the rights to stream, and check that the image and audio behave as intended over the full loop. If you want to appear on camera, a webcam is optional; YouTube says expensive equipment is not necessary. For a prerecorded visual loop, a camera is not required.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Run a test before depending on it
- Set up an unlisted or otherwise appropriate test stream.
- Check the encoder preview and the YouTube Live Control Room preview for picture, sound, and stream-health problems.
- Open the watch page and check playback on a mobile device as well as your usual screen.
- If recording locally, confirm the recording file is growing and can be played back. YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup.
- Monitor the stream during operation rather than assuming it will remain healthy unattended.
YouTube’s setup tips recommend preparing the encoder at least two hours in advance and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event. Those are preparation recommendations for a scheduled event, not a promise of 24/7 uptime.
Separate live duration from replay preservation
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and cautions: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” The 12-hour figure concerns archive capture. It is not stated as a maximum live-broadcast duration. If viewers need a replay, make and check a local recording rather than relying on YouTube to archive a very long stream.

The official materials cited here do not specify the maximum duration of a single continuous broadcast or a supported restart method that preserves the same watch page. Google’s API documentation discusses a 24/7 live-feed scenario alongside a separate broadcast resource; that example does not establish how long one broadcast may run. StreamNeo’s September 1, 2026 article says YouTube publishes no maximum broadcast duration, but that is StreamNeo’s interpretation, not an official YouTube guarantee. Treat continuity and restarts as operational uncertainties, and decide whether separate scheduled broadcasts are acceptable for your channel.
Protect the stream’s continuity and rights
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. YouTube’s terms require creators to represent that they have the necessary rights for live content used on Google services. Use original or properly licensed video and audio, including background music. If a rights holder has licensed material for your stream, YouTube says that holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID to avoid interruption. Check separately that your permission covers both the live stream and any archive.

During the stream, watch the Live Control Room for stream-health errors, check the channel or watch page, and monitor audio and video playback. If the broadcast stops, review the Studio dashboard for strikes and stream-health errors before restarting. No encoder or network is guaranteed to run without interruption.
Latency and monetization considerations
YouTube describes latency as the delay between capture and playback and notes that lower latency can mean more buffering. A study stream with little or no real-time audience interaction may not need the lowest possible latency; choose based on whether immediate interaction matters to your format rather than assuming the lowest delay is always best.

YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as monetization options. These features are conditional on channel eligibility. Even for eligible monetized channels, YouTube says ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot; do not plan the stream around a guaranteed ad schedule or income.
