To run a bhajan playlist as a YouTube Live stream, play and loop the recordings through a compatible encoder, then send that encoder’s feed to a live stream created in YouTube Studio. YouTube does not provide a special control that loops a playlist as a 24/7 broadcast. You must arrange playback, rights clearance, connection monitoring and recovery yourself—or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo to keep uploaded videos running without leaving a computer on.
Before you start: check channel access and rights
Make sure the channel can go live
Live streaming must be enabled for your channel. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Initial activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips for computers.
Clear every recording and visual for the intended use
A bhajan is not automatically copyright-free because it is devotional, traditional, or credited in the description. Rights may differ for the composition, a particular performance or recording, an arrangement, and any artwork or video shown alongside it. Do not assume that attribution or buying a copy of a recording grants permission to livestream it or keep an archive.
YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If a match is detected, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. If a rights holder has licensed the material for your stream, ask whether they must add your channel to their Content ID allowlist: YouTube warns that a licensed stream may still be interrupted without that step. An archived live video may also receive a Content ID claim after the stream ends. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Choose how to play and loop the playlist
You need an encoder to send the playlist’s audio and video to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder software running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. The playlist itself must be played and looped by the playback or encoder setup you choose; YouTube’s documented encoder workflow does not establish a built-in playlist-loop feature for continuous live broadcasts.
- Computer software: a practical starting point if you already have a computer that can play the files and run compatible encoder software. You are responsible for configuring playback to repeat and for keeping the computer, software and internet connection running.
- Standalone hardware encoder: an alternative if you have suitable equipment and a compatible playback workflow. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but says expensive equipment is not necessary to get started. A hardware encoder is not a requirement for a static playlist.
You do not inherently need a webcam, microphone, camera, audio interface or new router to broadcast a pre-made playlist. What matters is that the chosen setup can play the media, encode a feed YouTube accepts and sustain the required upload bandwidth. Set up the YouTube Live stream
- Open the Live Control Room: in YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create a new stream or schedule one. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover this workflow.
- Copy the ingest details: copy the stream server URL and stream key shown for the stream into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it or share it casually.
- Configure playlist playback and encoding: load the recordings and visuals you have permission to use, set playback to repeat in your selected setup, and choose encoder settings compatible with YouTube’s current options. The precise playlist controls depend on the software or hardware you use; YouTube’s instructions do not prescribe one encoder’s loop settings.
- Start the encoder and check the preview: begin sending the feed, then confirm that the Live Control Room receives it and that the preview shows the expected audio and visuals before relying on the public stream.
- End the broadcast deliberately: YouTube’s encoder instructions say to stop sending content from the encoder to end a stream. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish that a single stream can run indefinitely or specify the archive treatment for a stream exceeding 12 hours. If you plan a longer session, confirm the current behavior in YouTube Studio rather than assuming one broadcast can remain live without limit.
Choose settings and test the real setup
There is no single bitrate or resolution that is right for every playlist: the appropriate choice depends on the video output and the upload capacity available to the encoder. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrate and resolution guidance to choose compatible settings. Do not select a quality your connection cannot sustain.
- Test the complete path with the same kind of audio and static or moving visuals you intend to broadcast.
- Check the encoder’s output and YouTube’s stream health, not just whether the preview appeared once.
- Leave upload-bandwidth headroom instead of using all available capacity. Shared connections can reduce the bandwidth available to the encoder.
- Listen for silent, clipped or unexpectedly low audio and check that the visual continues as intended while the playlist repeats.
- Plan who or what will notice a stopped encoder, lost connection, failed playback or rights interruption. YouTube recommends testing and continuously monitoring streams; an unattended feed still needs a monitoring and recovery plan.
YouTube’s practical streaming tips also emphasize testing and monitoring rather than assuming a setup will stay healthy.

What can interrupt a continuous broadcast?
- Content ID or other third-party content match: verify permission for every element and, where a rights holder has licensed the material, ask about channel allowlisting. A match can affect the live feed; a claim can also appear on an archive after the stream ends.
- Insufficient or fluctuating upload capacity: lower the selected output settings in line with YouTube’s guidance, reduce competing network use, and test again with bandwidth headroom.
- Playback or encoder stops: confirm that the playlist really repeats, that the media remains available to the playback setup, and that the encoder is still sending a feed.
- Lost connection or YouTube ingest interruption: a DIY setup needs a person or monitoring process able to notice the outage and restart or reconnect the encoder. The cited YouTube guidance does not promise automatic recovery or uninterrupted operation.
- Unexpected archive or runtime behavior: streams under 12 hours are automatically archived according to YouTube. For a longer session, check the current Live Control Room behavior rather than assuming indefinite runtime or archival.
