To run brown noise on YouTube Live around the clock, send a continuous audio-and-video feed through an encoder to YouTube’s Live Control Room. You can host that encoder on a computer you maintain or use a cloud service. Before going live, confirm that your channel can stream, clear the rights to every sound and visual, test the preview and connection, and decide how you will handle YouTube’s archive limits for broadcasts longer than 12 hours.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube lists encoder streaming as an available method once live streaming is enabled. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guide.
- A brown-noise recording and a visual that you created or have permission to use in a live stream.
- An encoder that can continuously send the audio-and-video feed to YouTube. The encoder may run on a local computer or through a hosted service; YouTube does not promise that any particular device or service will stay online continuously.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity and headroom for the chosen stream settings.
- A plan for monitoring the broadcast and, if a complete replay matters, making a local recording backup.
Prepare the brown-noise audio and visual
Use material you are allowed to stream
Use audio and visuals you made yourself or have explicit permission to use for live streaming. Keep records of licenses and permissions. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can cause a stream to be replaced with a placeholder, interrupted, or terminated. If you licensed third-party material, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before the broadcast. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Check that the feed is continuous
Prepare the noise recording and visual so your encoder can supply them continuously. Make sure the audio plays at a stable level and does not contain accidental gaps, abrupt starts, or unrelated sounds. Check the finished feed in the encoder before scheduling or starting the YouTube broadcast. The official guidance does not prescribe a particular computer specification for this use; check the requirements of the encoder you choose.
Set up the stream in YouTube Live Control Room
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements and that live streaming is available. New access or restrictions can affect whether you can start a broadcast.
- Create or schedule the stream. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Enter a clear title and description, choose the intended privacy setting, and set other stream details for the audience you want to reach.
- Choose encoder streaming. Use the encoder workflow in Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there into the corresponding destination fields in your encoder. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Configure the encoder. Select the brown-noise audio and visual feed and set the output options supported by your encoder and YouTube’s current stream setup. Do not copy HLS-specific requirements into a standard RTMP setup; YouTube’s HLS instructions apply to an encoder configured to use HLS.
- Start sending the feed and check the preview. Start the encoder’s output, then wait for the stream preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the picture and sound are present and stable before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the broadcast. When the preview and stream status look right, start the live stream in Live Control Room if the workflow requires that separate action. Open the watch page and verify that viewers can reach it.
YouTube’s encoder setup and stream controls can change. Use the current labels and stream details shown in your Live Control Room rather than assuming that every encoder uses identical field names. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.

Test and monitor the 24/7 broadcast
Before launch
- Check the Live Control Room preview for stable audio and video.
- Verify the watch page is reachable using the privacy setting you selected.
- Confirm that your connection has upload capacity with headroom, not just enough bandwidth under ideal conditions. YouTube recommends a reliable network and upload bandwidth headroom in its streaming tips.
- If you are making a local backup, confirm that the recording file is growing and can be opened. A backup is useful only if it captures usable audio and video.
While live
Check the encoder’s output, network stability, Live Control Room status, audio, and any copyright notices. These checks help catch failures, but they cannot guarantee an uninterrupted stream. If YouTube reports a third-party match, follow the notice and be ready to stop or replace the affected material.
Plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive and DVR limits
A continuous 24/7 broadcast is not the same as a reliable replay archive. YouTube says, “If your live stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Its archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but an archive is not guaranteed for a stream that runs longer than that. YouTube also notes that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including streams longer than 12 hours. See YouTube’s archive guidance and live stream settings guidance.

If viewers need to rewind or you need a complete replay, consider ending the broadcast and starting separate shorter streams, each under 12 hours, and maintain a local recording backup. Separate broadcasts require a plan to restart the encoder and stream; do not assume a single long broadcast will preserve a full replay. If the stream is intended mainly for listening live, explain the archive and rewind limitations in the description or channel guidance.
Understand monetization and repetitive-content risk
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and expect original, authentic content. The policy identifies mass-produced, generic, or repetitive material as a monetization concern; on July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed its “repetitious content” policy to “inauthentic content” to clarify that repetitive or mass-produced content is included. That does not establish whether a particular brown-noise stream will qualify. Do not assume that an unchanged loop will be approved for monetization or promise viewers that it will carry ads. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Run it yourself or let it run in the cloud
Local encoder
A local setup gives you direct control of the computer, encoder, audio, and stream settings. In exchange, the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection at that location must remain available. You are responsible for checking the stream and recovering it after a local outage. YouTube does not set a minimum computer specification for this use case, so verify that your chosen encoder supports your intended workload.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload the brown-noise recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It streams to YouTube, not to other platforms.

Does YouTube guarantee that a 24/7 live stream will stay online?
No. The encoder, network, YouTube’s service, and copyright enforcement can all affect continuity. Monitoring and recovery planning reduce avoidable downtime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted broadcasting.
Can I use HLS settings for any encoder setup?
No. YouTube’s HLS setup requirements apply when the encoder is configured for HLS. Confirm the protocol in your encoder before applying protocol-specific settings.
