A stream that runs longer than 12 hours may not be archived, either. This guide covers a computer-based approach, the decisions you must make for children’s content, and a cloud option if you do not want a computer running at home.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and the 24/7 limits
YouTube supports live streaming through an encoder, but your channel must meet its live-streaming requirements. YouTube’s current guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person livestreaming must be at least 16 years old. Check your channel’s status in YouTube Studio before preparing a long broadcast.
There is an important distinction between sending a live feed and getting a complete replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24-hour stream therefore does not guarantee a complete archive. If you need a record, keep a separate local recording and check that the file is complete.
The encoder approach below uses prerecorded material as its input. It does not establish that YouTube officially supports an unattended 24/7 prerecorded loop, or guarantee that a computer, encoder, internet connection, or broadcast will stay online continuously.

Prepare the stories, audience settings and rights
Decide whether the content is Made for Kids
Choose the audience setting based on the actual content and intended audience, not simply because the stories are in Spanish or aimed at children. YouTube provides an audience choice in the Live Control Room when you create a live stream. If the material qualifies as Made for Kids, mark it accordingly; do not choose a different setting to preserve features.
YouTube lists feature restrictions for content marked Made for Kids, including live chat, personalized advertising, channel memberships, notifications, Super Chat and Super Stickers. Plan the broadcast and any audience interaction around those restrictions.

Clear every element for the uses you intend
Confirm you have the necessary rights for each story, reading, illustration, recording, sound effect and piece of music used in the livestream. Rights need to cover the relevant territories and uses, including live transmission and any archive you intend to make available. YouTube’s livestream terms say creators must have the necessary rights for exploitation of live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it detects matched content, it may replace the feed with a placeholder; if the match continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if required rights-management steps are missing. If a rights holder has provided instructions for using licensed material on YouTube, follow them before going live.

Make the programming worthwhile, not just continuous
YouTube’s monetization policy update dated July 15, 2025 renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is ineligible for monetization. Build a real editorial experience: use original stories or readings, meaningful variation, and creative value rather than repeating minimally changed templates. This does not guarantee monetization or eligibility for the YouTube Partner Program.
Set up a computer-based encoder broadcast
This is a practical encoder workflow, not a promise that every encoder can recover from failures or loop unattended. The exact YouTube Studio labels may change, and YouTube does not guarantee 24/7 operation through this method.

- Prepare a stable program file. Assemble the stories in the intended order and check the complete file from start to finish. Confirm that video and audio are present, transitions are deliberate, and the ending will not leave a blank or silent feed if the encoder reaches the end of the source.
- Install and configure an encoder. Use encoder software on a computer capable of running it. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not specify a minimum processor, memory, operating system or computer model, so do not treat any particular hardware configuration as a guarantee of continuous operation.
- Open YouTube Studio and create a live stream. Set up the broadcast in YouTube Studio, enter its title and description, and select the audience setting that accurately reflects whether the content is Made for Kids. Review the available broadcast controls before starting.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In the encoder, enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key shown in YouTube’s current live-stream setup. Treat the stream key as a password: do not share it, show it in screenshots, or include it in public notes. If it is exposed, use YouTube Studio’s controls to replace or reset it.
- Set the prerecorded program as the encoder’s input. Configure your encoder to send the prepared story program. If you plan to repeat a playlist or file, verify that your chosen encoder actually supports the repeat behavior you need and test what happens at the end of the material. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not confirm an official YouTube unattended-loop feature.
- Choose output settings supported by your source, encoder and current YouTube guidance. Match the stream resolution and frame rate to the material you prepared, and use the current recommendations in your encoder and YouTube’s live-stream setup for bitrate, keyframes and other output settings. The available guidance here does not establish a single bitrate or keyframe interval suitable for every resolution, frame rate and connection, so avoid treating one preset as universally correct.
- Run a full test before scheduling a long broadcast. Check picture, speech and background audio, transitions, the audience setting, stream metadata and playback on a viewer device. Test the end of the program and any intended repeat behavior. Confirm that the encoder can send the feed over your actual internet connection before relying on it for an extended stream.
- Start the encoder and monitor the broadcast. Start sending the feed, then confirm that YouTube shows the stream as live and that the video and audio are playing correctly. Keep access to the encoder and YouTube Studio available so you can respond to warnings or a dropped connection.
Plan for interruptions and protect your archive
With a computer-based encoder, you are responsible for the computer, encoder process, power and internet connection. Test a recovery procedure separately rather than assuming that YouTube or the encoder will restart the broadcast automatically. If continuity matters, assign someone to check the stream and decide in advance how to respond if the encoder stops or YouTube interrupts the feed.
For a complete record, make a local recording independently of YouTube’s archive and verify the resulting file. YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all; DVR, which lets viewers pause or rewind during a live broadcast, can also be limited or unavailable on streams over 12 hours. Do not promise viewers that a 24-hour replay will be available.

Troubleshooting common problems

Make a realistic 24/7 plan
A computer encoder can send prerecorded material to YouTube, but a 24-hour feed should be treated as an operational project: eligibility, audience classification, rights, tested playback and recovery, monitoring, and an independent recording all matter. If you use a cloud service instead, verify its YouTube workflow and the behavior you need before relying on it. Whichever approach you choose, distinguish a live feed from a guaranteed full-length replay, and do not promise an uninterrupted broadcast or monetization outcome.
