Yes—you can run a continuous rain-sounds YouTube livestream from a home PC using an encoder and YouTube Live. The practical setup is to prepare audio and visuals you own or have permission to use, test the complete stream, and keep an eye on the PC, connection and local recording. A 24/7 broadcast is not guaranteed to stay uninterrupted, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube.
What you need before you start

Use field recordings, original sound design, or material for which you have documented rights. Keep source recordings and project files. Build a finished piece with deliberate creative choices—such as distinct soundscapes, purposeful mixes, or visual scenes with meaningful variation—and explain your production clearly in the video description and channel information.
Rights and monetization are separate questions. YouTube’s reused-content policy says permission to use a recording does not, by itself, make a channel eligible for monetization if it mainly republishes material without substantive original changes or value. Set up the PC encoder and YouTube Live
- Enable live streaming: In YouTube Studio, complete the channel verification and live-streaming activation process. Allow up to 24 hours for a first-time activation. Confirm there is no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. [c003]
- Create the broadcast: Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Choose the stream’s visibility and title, and set up the event as appropriate for your channel.
- Copy the connection details: From the Live Control Room, copy the server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in screen captures or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Configure the encoder: Select the resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate your PC and upload connection can sustain. There is no single upload-speed figure that fits every setting; the required capacity depends on the outgoing bitrate and actual network conditions. Use a stable connection and leave headroom rather than encoding at the full measured upload rate.
- Preview and test: Start the encoder privately or as an unlisted test, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Listen for the actual audio level and continuity, and verify the visuals behave as intended. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends testing; it transcodes incoming streams for viewers. - Go public and monitor: Once the test is sound, change visibility or start the scheduled broadcast as planned. Keep the encoder running and check the broadcast periodically rather than assuming a continuous stream cannot fail.
Plan for upload capacity, power and monitoring
YouTube recommends keeping 20% bandwidth room above the stream’s needs. Shared household traffic can reduce available upload capacity, and an unreliable connection can interrupt a broadcast. Measure your actual upload performance at the location and time you will stream, account for other users and devices, and confirm that the encoder’s outgoing bitrate stays comfortably below the available capacity. Power interruptions and PC or router problems can also stop a home stream. Ethernet may reduce one source of variability compared with Wi-Fi; a UPS for the PC and router is an optional measure, not a guarantee. Choose a UPS only after measuring the equipment load and deciding how much backup runtime you need. Monitor the Live Control Room and check that any local recording is still being written. Do not rely on YouTube to archive one continuous day-long stream
YouTube may automatically archive a livestream shorter than 12 hours, but warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need a replay, make a local recording and check that it is being saved; split long broadcasts into shorter sessions when a YouTube archive is important. Understand monetization in India
A long broadcast or loop does not guarantee ad revenue or access to fan-support features. Eligibility depends on current YouTube requirements and policy compliance, including originality and reused-content review. Your Indian household’s ongoing cost depends on the PC and router’s measured power draw, how long they run, and your local electricity tariff. Internet upload speed and outage patterns also depend on your home and ISP. Because those inputs vary, there is no reliable universal INR operating-cost figure. Measure the equipment load and use your own tariff to estimate electricity; check upload performance at the intended streaming location before committing to a schedule.
