How to Run a 24/7 Indian Music YouTube Channel on a Mac Without OBS

You can keep a prerecorded Indian music playlist live on YouTube without OBS, but no current official listing establishes a specific OBS-free Mac encoder app or tested Mac configuration. For a prerecorded playlist, the clearest alternative is cloud playout: upload videos to a service that sends the stream from its servers, so your Mac can be off. Before choosing a setup, confirm YouTube Live access and the rights to every recording and visual you plan to broadcast.

What you need before starting

  • A YouTube channel that is verified and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also requires live streamers to be at least 16. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
  • If this is your channel’s first live stream, enable the feature at least 24 hours before you plan to go live. YouTube for Artists recommends allowing that time for activation: Going Live for Music Channels.
  • Permission to livestream the specific music and visuals. A subscription or permission to listen to a song does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it.
  • A playlist or recording you are entitled to broadcast, plus a plan for monitoring the stream and responding if it stops.

Choose how the stream will run

The two approaches differ in where the continuous playback and streaming work happens. A local encoder sends a live signal from your Mac; cloud playout sends an uploaded playlist from remote servers. YouTube supports encoder-based live streaming, but no particular OBS-free Mac encoder app, setup, or settings have been verified here. Do not assume that an app labeled as an encoder supports the continuous prerecorded workflow you need; check its current Mac compatibility, playlist handling, monitoring, and recovery options.

Approach What runs the stream What to check
Local encoder on the Mac Your Mac sends the live signal. It must remain powered, connected, and running the chosen software for the stream to continue. Confirm the app supports your intended workflow, can play the playlist continuously, and provides a way to detect and restart a stopped stream. YouTube’s encoder overview is at Set up your encoder for live streaming.
Cloud playout A service plays uploaded recordings and sends the broadcast remotely, so the Mac need not stay on. This is a general workflow distinction, not a guarantee about every provider. Check provider availability in your location, current price and terms, playlist limits, monitoring, and what happens after a YouTube interruption. These details vary by service.

Prepare the music and visuals lawfully

Clear rights before uploading or scheduling the broadcast. For each song, consider both the underlying composition and the particular recording, along with the territories and livestream use covered by the permission. If the video includes artwork, footage, lyrics, or other visuals, check those rights too. Contact the relevant label, distributor, publisher, or other rights holder when needed.

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party matches. A match can interrupt or end a stream. YouTube also warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the third-party content.” A license therefore does not guarantee uninterrupted playback; where applicable, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Set up and test the channel

  1. Confirm live access in YouTube Studio. Check that the channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements and enable streaming early enough for first-time activation. If YouTube shows a restriction, resolve that before planning a continuous broadcast.
  2. Choose the playback method. For a Mac-based encoder, verify the app’s current documentation for Mac support and continuous playlist playback; this article cannot specify a tested OBS-free app or configuration. For cloud playout, check the provider’s current terms and how it handles a playlist and interrupted streams.
  3. Prepare the playlist. Use only recordings and visuals you are permitted to livestream. Check that the playback sequence is intentional, files play correctly, and the stream will not expose material you did not mean to broadcast.
  4. Connect the stream to YouTube. Follow the chosen encoder or provider’s current instructions for connecting to your YouTube channel. Treat the stream key as a credential: keep it private, enter it only in the intended software or service, and replace it in YouTube if it is exposed.
  5. Run an unlisted test. YouTube for Artists recommends: “Test your live stream in an unlisted stream before your go-live date, especially for high-production or high-investment events.” Check sound, visuals, playlist order, and whether playback continues as expected before switching to a public broadcast.
  6. Plan monitoring and recovery. Know how to inspect the live stream in YouTube Studio and how to restart the chosen system. Confirm whether your encoder or provider detects a dropped connection and what action it takes; do not infer automatic recovery unless the service documents it.

If the stream stops or is interrupted

  • You cannot start a live stream: Check channel verification, live-stream eligibility, and any recent streaming restriction in YouTube Studio. If this is the first stream, allow the activation period YouTube recommends.
  • The stream is interrupted after music starts: Check YouTube Studio for copyright notices or restrictions. A match may interrupt or terminate a live broadcast; contact the relevant rights holder and confirm whether the channel needs a Content ID allowlist.
  • A licensed track still triggers an interruption: Verify that the permission covers livestreaming, the relevant recording and territories, and that the rights holder has allowlisted the channel where necessary.
  • Playback ends or the stream goes offline: Check the playlist and the local computer’s power and connection, or the cloud provider’s status and documented recovery behavior. YouTube directs creators to Studio to inspect stopped streams and strikes; its copyright guidance is at Copyright issues with live streams.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for looping uploaded videos and playlists. The setup is three steps: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer does not have to stay on at home; the service streams uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card; there is one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. Rights still matter: cloud playout does not grant permission to rebroadcast music. Start your free day on StreamNeo.
