Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →You can use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer to play a prepared bhajan playlist in sequence and send it to YouTube Live in real time. For a repeating stream, add input looping and a continuous visual, configure YouTube’s current RTMPS ingest URL and stream key, and keep the host and network running. This is a practical setup, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service: power, connectivity, FFmpeg, credentials, and YouTube can all interrupt it.
What you need before you start
- A computer or server that can stay on, with FFmpeg installed and reliable upload connectivity.
- Audio files you have permission to broadcast, stored at stable paths.
- A YouTube channel set up for live streaming, plus the current ingest URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room.
- A visual source if your chosen YouTube setup expects video. An audio playlist and a continuous video output are separate parts of the workflow.
Only use compositions and recordings for which you have the necessary live-broadcast permissions. A devotional subject, a traditional melody, or a recording found online does not by itself establish that the specific recording and arrangement are cleared.
Build the FFmpeg concat playlist
Create a UTF-8-compatible text file named bhajans.ffconcat. The first line identifies the concat script format; each following line names one media file, in playback order:
ffconcat version 1.0
file '/srv/media/bhajan-01.mp4'
file '/srv/media/bhajan-02.mp4'
file '/srv/media/bhajan-03.mp4'
Use paths that exist on the streaming host, not just on the computer where you edited the manifest. Quote and escape paths containing spaces or special characters according to FFmpeg’s concat syntax. Do not turn off safe-path checks for a manifest you do not trust.

Keep the playlist inputs compatible
The concat demuxer places files end to end and adjusts timestamps. FFmpeg’s documentation says the files must expose matching streams, including the same codecs and time base: FFmpeg concat demuxer documentation. Stream-copy concatenation is most suitable when the inputs are compatible and the destination accepts their encoding. If files differ, normalize them to a common codec, sample rate, channel layout, and container before concatenating, or use the concat filter and re-encode. FFmpeg’s FAQ recommends the concat filter when re-encoding is needed: FFmpeg FAQ.
Incorrect duration information can misplace the next file and cause timestamp or playback artifacts. If transitions glitch, inspect the inputs and their reported durations rather than assuming the playlist syntax alone is at fault.

Configure YouTube Live for the stream
Use the current ingest details
In YouTube Live Control Room, create or open the live setup and copy its server URL and stream key into your encoder configuration. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it in a script repository, screenshot, or public log. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure RTMP transport: YouTube encoder settings and recommendations.
Choose output settings that fit the source and connection
YouTube’s encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265, or AV1 video, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. The same guidance includes 44.1 kHz stereo audio and 128 kbps stereo audio in its advanced settings. These are platform recommendations, not a requirement to upscale a low-resolution visual or use a particular bitrate regardless of connection. Choose settings supported by your encoder, account setup, source, and upload capacity.

YouTube’s setup page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that note does not establish that a single 24-hour event is supported indefinitely or that a 24/7 broadcast will be fully archived. Check the current live setup and archive behavior for your channel: YouTube encoder setup.
YouTube also documents HLS ingest, but it requires HTTPS and packaged TS segments, including 1–4 second segments and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. HLS is a separate workflow with more packaging requirements and higher latency than RTMP; it is not needed for the basic RTMPS example: YouTube HLS ingest setup.

Start a looping real-time stream
For a compatible playlist and an RTMP-family destination, this is an illustrative starting point that encodes stereo AAC and generates a black 720p, 30 fps video signal:
ffmpeg -hide_banner -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -i bhajans.ffconcat
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -ac 2
-c:v libx264 -tune stillimage -vf "color=c=black:s=1280x720:r=30"
-shortest -f flv "rtmps://INGEST_URL/STREAM_KEY"
Replace the destination placeholder with the exact server URL and stream key supplied for the YouTube event. Do not share a command containing a real key. This command is not a tested universal recipe: validate it with your installed FFmpeg build and destination. In particular, check that the generated video remains available for the entire audio loop; -shortest and the generated color source may not behave as intended for an indefinitely running event. For a robust static visual, use a looping image or video input and a filter graph designed to keep the visual infinite while the audio playlist loops.

-re paces input approximately in real time, while -stream_loop -1 repeats the input. Neither makes the machine, power, or connection permanent. FFmpeg documents an RTMP FIFO output pattern that can attempt recovery after temporary output failures; it cannot fix a reboot, power loss, disk failure, expired key, or YouTube ending the event. See the FFmpeg FIFO muxer documentation for current options.
Test and monitor before relying on it
- Run the exact manifest, visual, codecs, and destination settings you intend to use. Check that tracks advance cleanly and that the picture and audio stay synchronized.
- Start a test stream before announcing it. Listen for silence, clipping, unexpected gaps, and level changes; check that the visual remains present.
- Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicator and messages while testing, then continue monitoring after going live.
- Monitor the host’s FFmpeg process, CPU and memory load, storage, and network. Configure remote alerts and a restart policy if appropriate, understanding these reduce some operational risks but do not guarantee uptime.
YouTube recommends testing audio and movement, monitoring stream health, and leaving upload bandwidth headroom. Its streaming tips recommend that total streaming bitrate fit within upload capacity with 20% headroom, and warn that a connectivity disruption can break a stream: encoder recommendations and YouTube streaming tips.
Common FFmpeg concat and live-stream problems
- Files fail to open: Check the manifest’s location, file permissions, exact paths, quoting, and escaping. Confirm each listed file is readable from the host running FFmpeg.
- Glitch, silence, or timestamp jump between tracks: Confirm the concat inputs expose matching streams, codecs, and time bases. Review duration metadata; inaccurate durations can affect where the next file is placed.
- One track plays but the next does not: Test each source file on its own and verify its streams and container are compatible with the other entries. Normalize inconsistent inputs or use the concat filter with re-encoding.
- YouTube rejects the encoder connection: Recheck the current server URL and stream key in Live Control Room, confirm RTMPS configuration and supported codecs, and ensure the event is ready to receive the stream.
- Stream health is poor or the output disconnects: Check upload capacity against the total bitrate, leave the recommended headroom, and inspect local network stability. A reconnect mechanism can help with some temporary output errors, but not with every host or platform failure.
- The stream ends when audio finishes: Verify the looping input and the video-generation/filter behavior. Test a complete playlist cycle before leaving the stream unattended.
