To rotate recorded math lessons as a continuous YouTube Live broadcast, send the lesson files through an encoder or cloud streaming service and configure the sequence there. A regular YouTube playlist can repeat for viewers, but it does not create a live broadcast. YouTube Live needs an encoder to send a signal using the event’s server URL and stream key.
Playlist repeat is not a livestream
YouTube lets viewers loop an individual video or playlist. That playback control applies to watching content; it does not send recorded lessons to a YouTube Live event. For a continuous live feed, a separate encoder or cloud service must play the recordings in the order you choose and transmit them to YouTube. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming.
Choose where the lesson rotation will run
YouTube’s encoder guide identifies software, hardware, and cloud routes. The best fit depends on whether you want to maintain a local streaming setup or have a service handle playback in the cloud.

With a computer or hardware encoder, the equipment needs power and a stable network at the streaming location. A cloud service can avoid keeping a dedicated PC there, but confirm the service’s current scheduling features, terms, and reliability information with its provider. YouTube’s descriptions establish which options are available, not their current commercial terms.

Set up a continuous math-lesson broadcast
- Prepare the lesson library. Organize recordings in the intended rotation order. Confirm you have permission to stream every lesson and its included audio, graphics, and other material. YouTube’s general streaming guidance does not prescribe math-specific file preparation or rights review.
- Choose an encoder or cloud service. Select a software encoder, dedicated hardware, or cloud service. YouTube lists OBS, identifies Gyre for prerecorded 24/7 streaming, and describes the AJA HELO Plus’s optional scheduling feature.
- Create the live event. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream. Copy the event’s server URL and stream key into the encoder, following that tool’s current instructions. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your event.
- Set the rotation in the chosen tool. Configure the lesson order and repeat behavior in the encoder or service itself. The available YouTube instructions do not give exact rotation steps for OBS, Gyre, or AJA HELO Plus, so use the chosen product’s current scheduling documentation rather than assuming the steps are identical.
- Test before making the event public. Start a test transmission, check the YouTube preview and stream health, and listen and watch for audio or video problems. Confirm viewers can reach the event from your channel and its watch page.
- Check upload bandwidth and connection stability. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the combined bitrate of the primary and backup streams. This is a platform recommendation, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. Network interruptions can break a live signal.
- Plan how viewers will find each lesson. Decide how to identify the lesson currently playing and how students can access lessons after the broadcast. A continuous event is not necessarily equivalent to separate, individually navigable lesson uploads.
Plan for archives and rewind on a 24/7 stream
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance warns that rewind may be limited or unavailable on very long streams beyond 12 hours. Do not assume an uninterrupted 24/7 event will leave a standard, easily navigable recording of every lesson. If students need to revisit a particular topic, plan a separate way to provide access to individual lessons.
