To rotate Indian-language programs in a YouTube livestream, define the order in an FFmpeg concat manifest and send that sequence to a scheduled YouTube encoder stream. YouTube channel playlists organize videos and archives; they do not, according to YouTube’s guidance, control which files play inside one live broadcast. The language order and rotation point are choices you make for your channel.
Choose how the language rotation should work
First decide the editorial sequence. There is no universal language list or required schedule: choose the languages, programs, and order that suit your audience. You might alternate languages after each complete program, run fixed time slots, or loop a longer sequence. FFmpeg follows the order in its input manifest; it does not select Indian languages automatically.
Keep two playlist concepts separate. The FFmpeg manifest determines the files sent into the live broadcast. A YouTube channel playlist can organize the resulting archive or highlight videos for viewers, but it does not replace that manifest. Prepare files that FFmpeg can concatenate
The concat demuxer is simplest when the files have matching stream layouts, codecs, and time bases. Check that each item has the expected video and audio streams and accurate duration metadata. Different resolutions, frame rates, audio layouts, codecs, or time bases may make a direct concat unsuitable; normalize or transcode the files first, or use a filter-based pipeline that reformats inputs. Compatibility does not by itself guarantee seamless transitions.

FFmpeg’s concat demuxer documentation explains the matching requirements and timestamp behavior. It adjusts timestamps between files, so incorrect duration information can shift later timestamps and cause artifacts. Use a duration directive only if a stored duration is inaccurate or unavailable, and supply a correct value.
Write the language sequence manifest
Create a plain-text file named rotation.ffconcat. Put the header on the very first line, exactly as shown, then add one file directive per item in the desired order. The paths below are illustrative: replace them with paths to media you are authorized to broadcast.

Send the sequence to YouTube with FFmpeg
Create or select a scheduled encoder stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Copy its server URL and stream key into your local encoder configuration, then use the URL as the output destination. The following command is an illustrative template, not a tested command; confirm it against your FFmpeg build, media, and current YouTube ingest settings.

Set it locally to the server URL plus the stream key in the form required by your encoder. Do not paste a real key into a public script, screenshot, or article.
For FFmpeg’s official options and stream mapping behavior, consult the FFmpeg documentation. YouTube recommends RTMPS generally; the server URL and stream key shown for your stream are the values to configure. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address,” so keep them private. If a key is exposed, replace it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. Preview, monitor, and check the archive
Use the scheduled stream’s preview in Live Control Room to check that the intended language sequence, picture, and sound arrive before going public. Monitor the broadcast while it runs, and verify the archive afterward. YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that is YouTube’s stated threshold, not a guarantee that every broadcast will be available in every circumstance. Broadcast only material you have the rights to use. A rotation manifest changes playback order; it does not grant permission to stream documentaries, music, or other people’s recordings.

Read YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements and configure the encoder for the selected protocol. Exact latency figures and a universally best protocol are not established here; test the actual encoder and stream settings you plan to use.

Troubleshoot common failures
- FFmpeg rejects the concat input or output looks wrong: check that the files have matching stream counts and types, codecs, and time bases. Normalize or transcode mismatched sources, or build a filter-based pipeline.
- Playback jumps, drifts, or shows artifacts at a file boundary: inspect duration metadata and any manifest
durationdirectives. Incorrect values can disrupt timestamp continuity. - The live preview does not appear: confirm that the scheduled stream is active, that the encoder uses its current server URL and key, and that the output protocol matches the selected ingest method.
- Video or audio is missing: inspect each file’s streams and the command’s
-mapselections. The example assumes a first video and first audio stream in every input. - HLS ingest is rejected or behaves unexpectedly: check the TS format, one-to-four-second segment duration, rolling-list limit, HTTPS POST/PUT use, and current YouTube HLS configuration.
- The archive is not visible: check Live Control Room after the stream and verify its status rather than assuming it was saved. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to encoder streams under 12 hours.
