Tap it immediately and follow the in-app instructions. Snapchat only restores recently expired streaks, so a missing Restore button usually means the streak is outside the eligible recovery window.
Restore a lost Snapchat streak
- Open the Snapchat mobile app.
- Swipe to the Chat screen.
- Find the one-on-one or group conversation that previously had the streak.
- Tap Restore beside the conversation, or use the available fire-emoji restore control.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Review the displayed price carefully and confirm only if you accept any charge.
The exact icon or label can vary with Snapchat’s app version, operating system, account, and region. Snapchat does not publish one universal number of hours or days for restoration eligibility; its support guidance describes the window as limited and applies to recently expired streaks.
What if the Restore button is missing?
A missing button usually means Snapchat considers the streak too old to restore. It can also indicate that you are viewing the wrong conversation or account, that the app has a temporary problem, or that Snapchat does not recognize the conversation as eligible.
If the streak disappeared recently and the in-app option is missing or fails, submit Snapchat’s official Streak restoration request. This is an escalation route, not a guaranteed bypass: Snapchat says only recently expired streaks may qualify.

Do not assume that reinstalling Snapchat, sending a new Snap, or sending a text message will recreate the old streak count. Those actions are not documented recovery methods.
Is Snapchat streak restoration free?

There is no universal Snapchat restore price. The applicable amount varies by country and device, so the price shown in your Snapchat app is the authoritative one. Avoid relying on an old article quoting a fixed dollar amount. See Snapchat’s current restore pricing guidance.
Does Snapchat+ restore old streaks?
Snapchat+ gives subscribers one free in-app Streak Restore during each subscription month. The subscription month follows the date the subscription began; for example, a subscription started on the 14th resets on the 14th of the following month. An unused monthly restore does not roll over, and additional restores may still cost money after the monthly allowance has been used.
Snapchat+ is not a guaranteed recovery tool. It cannot make an old or otherwise ineligible streak recoverable. If you are paying only to recover one streak and still have your standard free restore, Snapchat+ may be unnecessary. Check the current plan, price, renewal terms, and availability in Snapchat’s in-app paywall or the relevant app store. Details can vary by region and device. See Snapchat’s monthly restore rules.
Restore multiple expired streaks at once on iPhone
Snapchat currently documents a Restore All option for multiple recently expired streaks on iOS:
- Open Snapchat and locate conversations showing eligible Restore controls.
- Tap one of the restore controls.
- Select Restore All.
- Tap Restore and complete the in-app instructions.
The reviewed Snapchat documentation identifies Restore All as an iOS feature. If you do not see it, restore eligible conversations individually. Android users should not assume that the same bulk option is available on their device. See Snapchat’s Restore All instructions.

Fix common restoration problems
The purchase fails
If Restore is visible but payment will not complete, treat this as an in-app purchase problem rather than proof that the streak is unrecoverable. Check the Apple App Store or Google Play account used for the purchase, authentication, and payment status. Do not repeatedly buy the same restore. Use Snapchat’s restoration troubleshooting guidance.
You paid, but the streak is still gone
- Confirm that the payment actually completed.
- Close and reopen Snapchat, then check the original conversation.
- Do not immediately purchase another restore.
- Submit Snapchat’s restoration request if the streak remains missing.
- Keep the purchase receipt and your Snapchat account details available for support.
A completed payment does not override Snapchat’s eligibility rules, particularly for an older streak.

For a one-on-one streak, both people must exchange photo or video Snaps every day. Ordinary text Chats, reactions, or normal messaging do not satisfy that requirement. Use Snapchat’s camera and send an actual photo or video Snap.
An hourglass emoji means the streak is close to expiring. Do not wait for the fire emoji to disappear: both participants should exchange photo or video Snaps as soon as possible.
For a group streak, Snapchat says most members of the group must send a photo or video Snap in the Group Chat each day. It does not necessarily require every participant to send one. Read Snapchat’s explanation of how Streaks work and expire.
Prevent another lost streak
Turn on Snapchat’s built-in Streak Reminder for an active streak:
- Open the Chat feed.
- Press and hold the friend’s conversation.
- Tap Chat and Notification Settings.
- Turn on Streak Reminder.
- Make sure Snapchat notifications are also enabled in your phone’s system settings.
Reminders apply to active streaks, so enable them again for new streaks. A reminder does not replace the required daily photo or video Snap. Follow Snapchat’s Streak Reminder instructions.
