Netflix offers a direct way to remove an unwanted title from Continue Watching. On a computer, hover over the title and choose Remove From Row; on a TV, open the title’s details menu and choose Remove from Continue Watching; on Android, iPhone, or iPad, use the title’s menu and choose Remove From Row. If that control is missing—or you also want to remove the watch history—hide the title in the profile’s Viewing activity.
These controls affect the selected Netflix profile. They do not delete the movie or show from Netflix, cancel your subscription, or remove the title from another profile.
Remove a title directly from Continue Watching
Netflix documents direct removal on computers, TVs and streaming devices, Android phones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads. Labels, capitalization, and menu placement can vary by language, device manufacturer, or app version. See Netflix’s current instructions at Netflix Help Center.
Computer
- Open Netflix in a browser and select the profile that contains the title.
- Find the Continue Watching row.
- Hover over the unwanted movie, show, or episode.
- Select Remove From Row.
The title is removed from that profile’s row only.

- Highlight the title in Continue Watching.
- Open the title’s details page.

Android

- Find the title in Continue Watching.
- Tap the title’s menu icon.
- Tap Remove From Row.
Netflix specifically ties this direct Android control to the latest app version.

iPhone or iPad
- Open the Netflix app and choose the relevant profile.
- Locate the title in Continue Watching.
- Tap the title’s menu icon.
- Choose Remove From Row.
If “Remove From Row” is missing
The control may be absent because the app is outdated, the device exposes it only on the details page, Netflix has not refreshed the row yet, or you are viewing another profile. A Kids profile also cannot hide titles through the Viewing activity page.
- Confirm that you are using the profile whose row you want to change.
- Update Netflix through your device’s app store when an update is available.
- Close and reopen Netflix, then check the row again.
- Switch to another profile and back to refresh the session.
- Sign out and sign in again if your platform provides that option.
- Use the browser-based Viewing activity method below if the button still does not appear.
Use Viewing activity for a more complete removal
Hiding a title from Viewing activity is the reliable fallback for older app versions and the better choice when you want to remove the viewing record or change recommendation signals. Netflix explains the process at Netflix Help Center.

- Compact without compromises: Our sleek design won’t block neighboring HDMI ports, so you can switch from streaming to gaming with ease. Plus, it’s designed to stay hidden behind your TV, keeping wires neatly out of sight
- In a web browser, open your Netflix Account page.
- Under Profiles, select the relevant profile.
- Open Viewing activity.
- Click the hide icon beside the episode or title.
- If Netflix offers it, choose the option to hide the entire series instead of only that episode.
Netflix says a hidden title is removed from Continue Watching, no longer appears as watched, and is not used for recommendations unless you watch it again. Netflix also says synchronization across all devices can take up to 24 hours. Hiding activity is unavailable when Viewing activity is opened from a Netflix Kids profile.
Choose the right method
| Goal | Use | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Quickly clean the visible row | Remove From Row or Remove from Continue Watching | Removes the title from Continue Watching for the selected profile; viewing history and recommendation context may remain. |
| Remove the watch record and recommendation signal | Hide the title in Viewing activity | Removes it from the row and watched history; Netflix says it is excluded from recommendations unless watched again. |
| Remove every episode of a series | Hide the entire series from Viewing activity, when that option is offered | Removes the series’ viewing entries rather than only the episode you selected. |
Why a title may come back
- Someone watched it again on the same profile.
- Another episode remains in the profile’s viewing activity.
- Someone else uses the profile and starts the title.
- The change has not synchronized yet, particularly after hiding viewing activity; Netflix allows up to 24 hours.
- You removed it from one profile but are checking another.
- You are looking at a different row, such as recommendations or My List, rather than Continue Watching.
If recommendations are the concern, hide the title from Viewing activity instead of relying only on row removal.

Continue Watching is not My List
Continue Watching contains titles you started. Use the controls above. My List is a separate saved-title list and has its own removal control; Netflix’s instructions are at Netflix Help Center. Removing a title from one list does not remove it from the other.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What removal does—and does not—do
- It applies only to the profile you edit.
- It does not delete the movie or show from Netflix’s catalog.
- It does not cancel your subscription or delete the account.
- You can search for and watch the title again.
- Direct row removal is narrower than hiding Viewing activity; hiding also changes the visible watch record and recommendation inputs.
Can you undo the removal?
Netflix’s January 27, 2022 product announcement described an undo or back-arrow control that could appear immediately after removal: Netflix Newsroom. The current Help Center does not guarantee that control on every device or app version. If it is not shown, search for the title again and play it to return it to your viewing flow.
