To make a prerecorded devotional song video smaller, export it at a lower video bitrate; if the picture remains clear enough, also test a lower resolution or frame rate. To reduce data pressure during a live broadcast, adjust the live encoder’s bitrate separately to suit the upload connection. These are different settings: changing the live bitrate does not shrink a separate video file.
First decide what needs to be smaller
A prerecorded video file
For an uploaded recording or local archive, the export settings determine file size. At the same bitrate, a longer video produces a larger file. Lowering the encoded video bitrate is usually the direct way to reduce size; lower resolution or frame rate may also reduce the data needed, but can affect how the song and visuals look.
The live stream’s data rate
A livestream’s encoder sends data at a configured bitrate. Lowering that rate can make a stream more manageable on a constrained connection, but it does not edit an independently stored source video. YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations and livestream ingestion recommendations serve different purposes: its upload guidance recommends MP4, H.264, and variable bitrate, while live encoder guidance specifies constant bitrate (CBR) and separate live settings. Do not treat an upload setting as a required livestream setting. YouTube: Recommended upload encoding settings; YouTube: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Estimate a recording’s size before exporting
As a rough planning estimate, video payload in megabytes ≈ bitrate in megabits per second × duration in seconds ÷ 8. For example, a 60-minute video encoded at 5 Mbps has an estimated video payload of about 2,250 MB before audio and container overhead. This is not an exact export-size promise: audio, container overhead, codec, and encoding choices affect the final file.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the export is too large, reduce the video bitrate and make a short test export. Compare the result at normal viewing size: devotional footage with a mostly static image may tolerate a lower frame rate or resolution, while movement, fine detail, or text can make quality loss more noticeable. Keep the singing and instrumental audio clear and balanced; reducing video size should not make the devotional content difficult to hear.
Choose live settings for the connection in India
There is no single upload-speed figure that applies to every Indian venue, ISP, or time of day. Test the actual connection where and when the stream will run. YouTube recommends testing upload bitrate and choosing a quality that the connection can sustain reliably. Its current guidance, accessed in 2026, lists these H.264 starting points:

| Live picture setting | YouTube minimum video bitrate | YouTube recommended video bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations, not measurements of Indian broadband performance or guarantees for a particular connection. Use them as starting points, then test stream health at the venue. YouTube lists 128 kbps as its recommended stereo audio bitrate for live encoder settings. Its live guidance recommends a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds, and lists RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265, and AV1 among its live encoder options. Confirm the current requirements for your encoder and selected protocol in YouTube’s live encoder guidance.
Prepare and rehearse the stream
- Check your goal: decide whether you need a smaller saved/uploaded video, a lower live data rate, or both. Change export settings for the file and encoder settings for the live stream.
- Measure the connection: run an upload speed test near the event time and from the location you will stream. YouTube explicitly recommends a speed test to check upload bitrate. Leave practical headroom rather than assuming the connection will continuously deliver its peak result.
- Set a conservative starting quality: select a resolution and frame rate that suit the content and the tested connection. Compare 720p and 1080p against YouTube’s recommendations above rather than automatically choosing the highest available resolution.
- Configure audio and keyframes: retain intelligible, balanced song audio; use YouTube’s recommended 128 kbps stereo audio bitrate as a starting point. Set a two-second keyframe interval where supported and do not exceed four seconds, following the encoder’s current options.
- Rehearse with representative content: test the actual devotional audio and visuals, watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators, and confirm that any local archive file is growing. If the stream struggles, lower the live bitrate or picture setting and test again.
Protocol affects latency, not the source file size
HLS sends video in segments and has higher latency than RTMP according to YouTube. It also has its own segment and transport requirements. Choose a protocol your encoder supports and that meets the delivery needs of the event; switching protocols is not a method for compressing a stored recording. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements.

Check rights before streaming devotional music
Devotional subject matter does not by itself establish that a song recording is free to use. Before streaming, confirm that you have permission for the composition and the specific recording, including any backing track or images in the video. YouTube’s copyright rules and live-stream policies apply to music broadcasts; review YouTube copyright basics and its live streaming restrictions. A technically healthy stream can still face a copyright claim or interruption.
Troubleshoot a stream that buffers or drops
- Stream health is poor or the broadcast disconnects: the upload connection may not sustain the chosen bitrate. Retest at the venue, reduce the live bitrate or resolution, and rehearse again.
- The video file is still too large: lower the export bitrate and check a short sample; consider reduced resolution or frame rate only if the picture remains acceptable. Changing the live encoder bitrate will not alter that file.
- The picture looks blocky after lowering bitrate: restore some bitrate or reduce resolution/frame rate so the encoder has less visual detail to carry. Judge with the actual video, not just the setting label.
- The audio is unclear or unbalanced: adjust the audio mix and verify it in a rehearsal. Do not solve an audio problem by lowering video quality alone.
- A local recording appears incomplete: check during rehearsal that the archive file is growing and verify available disk space and recording settings in the encoder.
- The stream is delayed: protocol can affect latency. HLS has higher latency than RTMP per YouTube; review protocol requirements rather than changing file compression settings.
