In OBS, enable Loop on a Media Source for one episode, or use a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist enabled for multiple episodes. Test the handoff between files before going live: OBS documents looping controls, but does not promise gapless transitions.
Why silence happens between episodes
The playback source or playlist feeding your encoder determines what viewers hear between episodes. If that source stops after one file, or pauses while changing files, the live feed can contain silence. Repeating the source or arranging episodes in a looping playlist addresses playback continuity; it does not guarantee that separate files will join without a pause.
YouTube’s Loop control is for a viewer listening to a video or playlist. It does not change the source being sent by your encoder. The creator configures continuous playback in OBS or another streaming service, then sends that feed to YouTube Live.
Set up continuous playback in OBS
Loop one episode
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene that will go live.
- Select the episode file in the source’s properties.
- Enable Loop, which tells OBS to replay the file when playback completes.
- Check that the source’s audio is present in the outgoing stream mix. Hearing it through local monitoring alone does not confirm that viewers will hear it.
Loop a playlist of episodes
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for its VLC Video source; OBS’s documentation specifies 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS.
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS and add the episode files to its playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist so playback returns to the first item after the last.
- Confirm that the source is audible in the outgoing stream mix, then test both a file-to-file handoff and the playlist’s return from its last episode to its first.
OBS’s documented controls establish that a file or playlist can loop; they do not establish that separate episodes transition gaplessly or crossfade. If you hear a pause in the test, check the files’ ending and opening audio and the playback handoff before relying on the playlist live.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
OBS supplies the playback and encoding; YouTube is the destination. In YouTube Live’s streaming setup, copy the server URL and stream key into the corresponding stream settings in OBS. YouTube Help describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private; do not include it in screenshots or public examples.
After connecting, verify the live preview and listen to the outgoing feed. YouTube’s viewer-side Loop option can help someone replay a finished video or playlist, but it cannot repair a pause in the live feed sent by OBS.

Use a cloud playlist if you do not want a computer running
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Its stated workflow is to upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream; the cloud handles playback, so your computer and home connection do not have to remain on. StreamNeo says its playlists loop and that it attempts automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Those are provider claims, not independently verified reliability results.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload the episode video or build your playlist in StreamNeo.
- Add your YouTube stream key.
- Go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded material from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; and StreamNeo says it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start the free day with StreamNeo.

Test the handoffs and troubleshoot before broadcasting
- There is silence after one episode: Check that the source is set to loop, or that Loop Playlist is enabled for a multi-file playlist.
- The next episode does not start: Confirm that the file is in the VLC Video playlist and that the playlist order is correct. Test the end of the final item as well as transitions between earlier episodes.
- You hear audio locally, but the live feed is silent: Check that the playback source is audible in the outgoing stream mix, then verify the live preview and listen to the feed being sent to YouTube.
- VLC Video is missing from OBS: Install VLC. If OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC as specified in OBS’s notes.
- A pause remains at a file boundary: Looping alone does not establish gapless playback. Inspect the end of one file and the beginning of the next, and test the transition in a stream before broadcasting to an audience.
Keep the stream and the content ready for YouTube
Continuous playback solves only the playback gap. Make sure your selected episodes and other audio or video are cleared for use in a live broadcast, and use your own or properly licensed material. Configure and test the feed before going live, and keep your stream key private. The setup above does not itself guarantee that YouTube will accept or keep a stream live.
