First identify what you mean by a “YouTube streaming server”: YouTube Premium, a Google Cloud server, and a service that keeps a YouTube live stream running are different purchases, with different billing flows. In India, UPI can be used for YouTube Premium through Google Play when offered, and eligible organizations can use UPI for Google Cloud billing. You do not buy a YouTube server to start a YouTube Live stream; you send video to YouTube using its stream URL and key.

Pay for YouTube Premium with UPI
Google Play India documents UPI for subscriptions and UPI AutoPay mandates for recurring payments, including YouTube Premium. Begin from the YouTube or Google Play subscription checkout and select UPI if it appears. Follow the displayed instructions to approve the payment or mandate in the UPI app you choose. Google’s payment-method guidance notes that available options can vary by country and billing platform, so a PhonePe or Google Pay option at checkout is not guaranteed for every account or purchase route. What the AutoPay step means
If checkout offers recurring UPI, approving it may create a UPI AutoPay mandate for future subscription payments. Read the amount, frequency, and mandate details shown in your app before approving. Do not treat a one-time UPI authorization as proof that a recurring mandate has been set up.
Which UPI app to select
Choose PhonePe or Google Pay only if the checkout presents it or its UPI flow accepts your installed app. Google named both apps among preferred UPI apps in a 2019 Google Play announcement, but that historical reference does not establish which options a user will see today. Use UPI for Google Cloud billing in India
Google Cloud UPI billing is not a general payment option for every personal account. Google’s guidance limits it to qualified organizations in India that pay in INR, and lists an Indian billing address and bank account plus a configured, registered UPI account among the requirements. It also says an initial prepayment, typically ₹500–₹1,000, is required before UPI can be used. This is a setup requirement stated by Google Cloud, not a universal server price. Payment and recurring options
Google Cloud describes manual payment and monthly recurring payment options for UPI. Availability depends on the billing account and its eligibility; use the choices shown in Google Cloud Billing. YouTube Live does not require buying a YouTube server
If your goal is to broadcast a live feed, YouTube is the destination rather than a server vendor. YouTube’s encoder workflow is to create or schedule a live stream in YouTube Studio, copy the stream URL and key, enter them in your encoder, then start streaming. The key connects your encoder output to the correct YouTube stream; keep it private and do not share it as you would a public link. Follow YouTube’s current instructions for the stream settings and encoder. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and manage live stream settings.
Basic encoder sequence
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from the stream settings.
- Enter both values in your encoder’s YouTube or custom-server fields as appropriate.
- Start the encoder and check the live preview/status in YouTube Studio before making the stream public.

Payment issues to check
- No PhonePe or Google Pay option appears: Available methods depend on the country and billing platform. Check whether you started checkout through YouTube or Google Play and use the UPI choices actually shown there.
- A recurring subscription payment is expected: Confirm whether checkout requested a UPI AutoPay mandate and whether it was approved in the UPI app.
- Google Cloud does not offer UPI: Confirm that the billing account is for a qualified organization in India, is billed in INR, and meets Google’s address, bank-account, registered-UPI, and initial prepayment conditions.
- A live stream will not connect: Check that the encoder has the stream URL and key for the intended YouTube Studio stream, and that the stream is active and configured as expected. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
Payment-method changes to keep in mind
Google Play India’s help page says netbanking was discontinued as an accepted Google Play payment method from October 2025 until further notice. Payment availability can change, so check the live checkout and current India payment-method page before choosing a billing route.
