Your Compute Engine bill depends on the resources and usage you choose; there is no single standard price for a streaming VM.
Which payment methods can you use from India?
Google lists credit and debit cards for self-serve Cloud Billing accounts in India. UPI may be available to qualified organizations that meet Google’s requirements: an Indian billing address, an Indian bank account, payment in INR, and a configured UPI account with a financial institution. Google says the typical initial UPI prepayment is ₹500–₹1,000. Check eligibility with Google rather than assuming UPI is available for an individual account.

For invoiced billing, follow the terms and payment instructions on your account and invoice; invoicing is not assured for every customer. Google’s documentation describes invoice payment methods that may apply in India, including UPI-enabled apps, ACH, EFT, and wire transfer.
Choose the billing country before creating the account
When you create a Cloud Billing account, select India if that is your billing country. Google says the country affects available payment methods and assigns the account currency automatically. You cannot change the country or currency on that billing account later, so check both before confirming.

Google also requires identity verification within 30 days after creating a billing account with an India billing address. Its guidance warns that the billing account and access may be suspended if verification is not completed within that period. Complete the verification promptly and use the billing profile that accurately reflects your situation.
What to do if a card payment fails
An automatic card payment may fail because the card does not support automatic payments or because, for new accounts, a cost exceeds the RBI-set limit Google describes. Google recommends manual payments, trying a different card, or considering a local reseller who may accept other payment methods or help with invoicing.

- Check whether your card supports automatic payments and whether the billing account has a payment issue requiring action.
- Try a manual payment or another card, following the options shown in your Cloud Billing account.
- If those options do not work or you need invoice assistance, ask Google about a local reseller. Verify the provider’s eligibility, payment methods, and terms directly.
Google’s Resolve Cloud Billing issues guidance recommends these options to help keep services running when automatic payments are declined.
Estimate the Compute Engine cost for your stream
Compute Engine is billed according to usage. A VM, its disk, and networking are separate cost considerations, so a realistic estimate requires your machine type, region, runtime, disk configuration, and traffic profile. Google’s Compute Engine pricing documentation states that vCPU and memory resources have a one-minute minimum charge.

- Use Google’s pricing calculator to model the machine type, region, expected runtime, disk, and networking for your workload.
- Review the applicable Compute Engine SKUs and your billing account’s currency before relying on the estimate.
- After deployment, monitor actual usage and charges in Cloud Billing; a calculator estimate is not a fixed monthly price.
The billing approach alone cannot establish whether a particular VM configuration is suitable for a YouTube live stream, or specify the required ingest method, encoder settings, or VM size. Confirm those technical requirements separately against current YouTube and Google Cloud documentation before building a streaming setup.
Check which India GST case applies
Google’s tax treatment depends on the billing profile and contracting entity. For Google Cloud services sold by Google Cloud India Private Limited to customers with an India billing address, Google states that 18% India GST applies regardless of GSTIN status. For customers in India contracted with Google Asia Pacific, Google states that a valid GSTIN is required for 0% GST from February 1, 2025; without one, the stated rate is 18%. These are distinct cases, so check the entity shown on your billing documents and verify your current tax details with Google.
