To loop Assamese Christian sermon recordings in a YouTube Live broadcast, put the files in a looping source in OBS, then send OBS’s live output to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback for a viewer; it does not make a live broadcast cycle through your recordings.
What you need before setting up the loop
- A YouTube channel that is currently able to go live. YouTube says first-time live activation can take up to 24 hours.
- The sermon video files saved locally and arranged in the order you want them played.
- OBS Studio. For a playlist of multiple files, install VLC as well; OBS documents that 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for its VLC Video source.
- Permission to stream and rebroadcast each sermon recording, including any music, images, or other material embedded in it. The software setup does not establish that you have those rights.
Interface labels and available options can change, so check the current OBS installation and YouTube Studio interface as you follow the steps.
Set up one sermon or a playlist in OBS
For one recording
- Open OBS and select the scene you intend to broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, add a Media Source and select the sermon video file.
- In the Media Source properties, enable Loop. This repeats that file when playback reaches the end.
- Check the scene’s picture and audio. Confirm the video fits the canvas and that speech is audible without clipping.
For multiple recordings
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. If you use 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
- In your OBS scene, add a VLC Video source.
- Add the sermon files to the source playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off if the sermons should remain in the listed order; OBS documents shuffle as a separate setting, defaulting to Off.
- Preview the transitions between recordings, listening for abrupt volume changes, silence, or audio that gets cut off at a file boundary.
For the official OBS source options and properties, see OBS Project’s Media Sources documentation.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or select a stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- In OBS, open the streaming settings and enter the YouTube stream URL and key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview and complete YouTube’s Go live step if it is required for the selected stream setup.

Choose output settings and rehearse
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance when choosing output settings. YouTube currently documents RTMP/RTMPS delivery, H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video codecs, and AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. Match resolution and bitrate to the available upload connection; run a speed test and do not assume the connection can sustain a setting just because OBS accepts it. These are YouTube’s platform recommendations, not a tested configuration for a particular sermon stream.
- YouTube recommends RTMPS, the encrypted extension of RTMP.
- Preview representative sermon footage and listen to actual speech and music, not just a silent desktop or opening frame.
- Check that the watch page is accessible to the intended audience and watch the stream health indicators during the rehearsal.
- YouTube’s DVR feature allows viewers to pause and rewind, then resume where they paused. Decide whether that behavior suits your audience.
See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for current platform guidance.

Plan for the YouTube archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Streams over 12 hours may not be captured, so keep a local recording if an archive matters. Decide beforehand whether the resulting archive should be public, unlisted, or private. See YouTube’s guidance on archiving live streams.
Common problems and fixes
- The sermon plays once and stops: For a single file, check that Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For multiple files, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- VLC Video is missing from OBS: Install VLC and make sure its architecture matches OBS. OBS documents the 64-bit OBS and 64-bit VLC requirement.
- Files play in the wrong order: Check the playlist order and make sure Shuffle Playlist is off.
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: Recheck the stream URL and key in OBS against the selected stream in Live Control Room. Confirm OBS has started streaming and inspect the YouTube preview.
- The stream drops or reports poor health: Check the upload connection and reduce output demands to settings it can sustain. Rehearse with the intended resolution and bitrate before relying on the broadcast.
- Speech is too quiet, distorted, or interrupted between sermons: Check OBS audio levels and listen through the transitions using the actual playlist files.
