You can’t publish a completed YouTube Live replay as a separate archive while that same stream is still running. To let late-arriving viewers watch from the beginning, enable YouTube’s live DVR: it lets them pause and rewind within the broadcast so far. The separate replay becomes available only after the stream ends, if YouTube archives it.
Replay and DVR are different
DVR is a control for the live broadcast. Viewers can pause, rewind, and resume from a point within the stream, but DVR does not create a separate replay or let viewers watch footage from before the broadcast began. YouTube describes DVR as letting viewers “pause, rewind, and continue during the live stream” (YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams).
A replay, also called an archive, is the recording associated with the stream after it has ended. YouTube says a channel may post a replay once a live stream is over (YouTube Help: Learn about live streams).
Enable DVR so viewers can rewind during the live stream
Before you go live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- Choose the stream or open the Manage tab.
- Open Stream settings, then Additional settings.
- Turn on DVR.
YouTube’s labels may change as Studio is updated. Check the live-stream DVR guidance if the menu names differ (YouTube Help: Turn on DVR on live streams).

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the stream is already live
You can still switch DVR on or off in the stream settings. A change applies to viewers who start playing after the setting changes; it does not change the experience for people already watching. Tell late arrivals to seek backward in the live player. They can rewind only as far as the start of the broadcast, not to a time before it began.
Know the limits
DVR may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, particularly beyond 12 hours. Rewind availability can also depend on the playback device. If viewers cannot seek back, they may need to rejoin or try another supported player; DVR cannot provide a separate completed replay while the broadcast is ongoing.

Make the replay available after the stream ends
- Let the prerecorded program finish, then stop the live stream.
- After YouTube processes the recording, find it in the channel’s Live tab in YouTube Studio.
- Set the archive’s visibility as you want, such as public, unlisted, or private.
YouTube says it can automatically archive live streams shorter than 12 hours. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and YouTube does not specify an exact processing delay. Don’t promise viewers that the replay will appear immediately (YouTube Help: Archive live streams).
Keep a local recording as a backup
A local recording gives you another copy if the YouTube archive is missing or delayed. YouTube recommends recording a local archive and checking that the local file is growing while you stream (YouTube Help: Live streaming tips). This protects your recording; it does not make the YouTube replay available before the stream ends.

Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded program to keep looping on YouTube without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. Upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed. It does not make YouTube publish a completed replay while the stream is still live; viewers can use DVR during the broadcast, and the archive comes afterward.
